Agape supports and empowers underserved families within its community to discover, embrace, and achieve their full potential. Agape achieves this mission by providing academic support and family services focusing on character development, academic achievement, reading proficiency by third grade, successful high school graduation, and post-graduation placement. The proceeds that I raise at the Alternative Gift Fair will be directly donated to a fund that I maintain throughout the year to raise money for Agape. Last year my fund raised around $2,000, and this year my goal is $5,000.

Agape Youth and Family Center Laura Palacios
Agape is a nonprofit youth and family center that "empowers and supports underserved families within [their] community to discover, embrace, and achieve their full potential." Agape engages with children to senior citizens through various programs, such as after-school tutoring, recreation for senior and disabled adults, summer camps, and more. One of Agape’s main focuses is to aid the learning gap and cultivate a love for learning by having programs that focus on academic success, character development, reading proficiency, and ultimately graduation and beyond. Agape works with a community of more than 200 children and 45 senior citizens every day. All proceeds will go to the Agape Holiday Gift Store! This event takes place December 14 and 15—volunteers are welcome!—in order to provide new coats and toys for the coming holiday season to the families they engage with.
Colombian mochilas: $40 (medium), $65 (large) Colombian mochilas are colorful artisan bags celebrating the beautiful culture of Colombia. The mochilas I will be selling are from the Tejedoras de vida, who originate from el pueblo Nasa. These mochilas reflect their ancestral cultural identity and represent a tradition that has been passed down for generations. Each bag has a special pattern and color scheme that holds

Agape Teen Leaders Catherine Williams
I am part of the Agape Teen Leader program, and my goal is to raise $1,500 for Agape. My family and I have been volunteering there for many years, and the organization has had a immense impact on our lives and the people who go there. Agape provides many opportunities for kids in low-income families, including afterschool tutoring and providing dinners and lunches, but their main goal is to end the cycle of generational poverty by sending kids to college.

Agape supports underserved K–12 students and their families in Atlanta’s Westside community by providing academic help, family services, and meals every day after school as well as during summer. Students in Agape’s programs receive 947 hours of programs and services each year. Students who remain in Agape’s programs through 12th grade have a 98% high school graduation rate. Agape’s innovative in-school and after-school program model is complimented by Agape services and outreach that fulfill a holistic approach to guiding each child to discover and embrace their full potential. I’m part of the Agape Teen Leaders semester-long program and am fundraising to benefit Agape’s after-school programming for their students. After-school programming includes reading proficiency programs, STEAM activities, extracurricular activities, and field trips as well as college visits for high schoolers.

Agape serves almost 225 children attending Bolton Academy, E. Rivers Elementary School, F. Scott Elementary School, Sutton Middle School, and North Atlanta High School. Agape’s programs provide academic and family support services, focusing on character development, academic achievement, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation, and post-graduation placement. This work is even more critical now as we continue to combat pandemic learning loss and support students through academic recovery. More than two-thirds of the families served by Agape maintain an annual household income of less than $20,000, and 100% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches at school. All of the money we raise will go to Agape and its mission.

Alliance Academy Inc. The purpose of Alliance Academy is to provide music learning opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access to them. We hope to foster a pressure-free environment and a love for music. Private lessons can cost around $100 an hour, and we believe everyone should have an opportunity to pursue an interest in music, or become a talented musician. We are a small nonprofit formed by Westminster students who teach a free weekly group piano class to fourth graders at Sarah Smith Elementary School. Currently, we are having challenges with transportation, advertising, and enough volunteer teachers. Any proceeds from the alternative gift fair would double the impact we can have through reaching more students—we're very close to affording enough keyboards for another elementary school. We'd also like to invest in transportation and piano books for the students to keep the organization going.

Artists First Therapy in Art club
Artists First is an inclusive, nonprofit art studio empowering artists of all abilities and providing disenfranchised and underserved community members a sense of self-determination, independence, and self-worth through a creative, artistic process. Artists First uses creative self-expression to build equity, equality, and empowerment in the Saint Louis region and beyond. Their programs, such as Healing Trauma of Isms, Artists First for Veterans, and Integrated Youth Open Studio, provide curriculum to aid individuals in healing from the negative effects of oppression and trauma and also bring artistic opportunities to a diverse community of individuals. Their mission is to bring art to the community as a means of integration, healing, support, and finding common ground; this mission directly aligns with the goal of the Therapy in Art Club at Westminster. The proceeds will go to this nonprofit organization to help increase the reach of this institution and fund materials needed to continue their programs.

ATL SEVA Project Saachi Singh, Veer Singh
The ATL SEVA Project strives to address food insecurity in the metropolitan Atlanta area. We offer nutritious food to offer mutual hope and inspire a service mindset among our peers. As an example, we invite our peers and organize monthly sandwich drives for local homeless shelters. In all our ventures, the concept of “SEVA,” or selfless service, is always the guiding mission. Our goals are to combat hunger, serve humanity, and build community. Proceeds will be used to fund our monthly sandwich drives.

By turning antique Sari’s and trims into handmade cards, we aspire to preserve their craftsmanship and carry forth the legacy of their beauty. We have another line of cards called "Objets Trouves" where we incorporate found objects into artisanal one of a kind cards. Each card is a unique piece of art.
Atlanta Youth Academy
Catherine Aebersold, Caroline Lanier, Caroline Deitz Atlanta Youth Academy was founded in 1997 to serve the spiritual, intellectual, and social needs of our city’s youth. The school began with one classroom, one teacher, and nine students, but it grew quickly, adding students and grades each year, with the first eighth grade class graduating in 2004. Now it has 150 students from pre-K through eighth grade. The profit we make will be used to buy a new encyclopedia set; our goal is at least $12,000. AYA raises funds to bridge the gap between what families are able to pay and the actual cost of education of $16,700 for every student. The average class size at AYA is 15 students, and 100% of its students graduate from high school. College attendance rates are around 95%. This school is truly making a difference in Atlanta on an individual level and changing the trajectory of each of its student’s lives for the better.

BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation) Harper Jaxon, Caroline Ganz
More than 240 thousand people in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer, which affects them and their loved ones significantly. We hope by raising money we can help benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), along with others' health. BCRF was created in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, and it has raised more than a billion dollars to fuel its mission. In 2023-24, BCRF will award $60.2 million to more than 250 scientists from top universities and medical schools. We believe that even small donations can have an impact. All of our Alternative Gift Fair proceeds will go to breast cancer research.

Almost 40,000 veterans in the United States are currently suffering from homelessness, with over 51% suffering from mental illness and severe isolation. Our mission is to give back to those who sacrificed everything to protect our country and the freedoms we enjoy today through partnering with United Military Care (UMC) to distribute backpacks full of essentials to homeless veterans in Georgia. These bags are filled with food, toiletries, clothing, and thank you notes. With the money made from the Alternative Gift Fair, we plan to buy the food items that will go into each bag. Help us begin the process this holiday season and give to those who have sacrificed an inconceivable amount for us.

The Books for a Purpose club is a service club based on advocating for better access to education and reading materials for underprivileged communities. Our organization is Ferst Readers, a charity based in Madison, Georgia, and its mission is to strengthen communities by providing materials such as quality books and reading resources for families and their children to use during their early childhood years. Ferst Readers has a vision of creating better learners and stronger communities by giving every child under the age of 5 access to quality books in their homes. Ferst Readers supports children statewide by distributing reading materials, promoting literacy, and advocating for fair education throughout Georgia. This year's Alternative Gift Fair proceeds will go toward this organization as donations. As a result, children enrolled in Ferst Readers will receive a developmentally appropriate book mailed to their home every month from birth to age five. These books will give children from underprivileged communities an equal opportunity to learn and enjoy books and reading just as we do.

Dolphins Challenge Cancer Sarah Latham
Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC) is the Miami Dolphins' signature fundraising initiative where 100% of proceeds are donated to the University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Last year, DCC raised $10.5 million—the largest charitable fundraising event in the NFL—with funds directed toward the advancement of cancer care through breakthrough science, leading-edge technology, and personalized patient care. Upper School math teacher Sarah Latham and her daughter, Emmy, will be doing their third 100mile bike ride in February to support this initiative.

Gold Hearts for Cures
Caryssa Snyder, Ruth Zemedhun, Bethany Chern, Jerry Guo Gold Hearts for Cures is a student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness of childhood cancer. Globally, around 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children. However, the government only provides 4% of funding to research for a cure. Our proceeds go to CURE Childhood Cancer, an Atlanta-based organization that both conducts research and spreads awareness for childhood cancer. The symbol of our organization, the gold heart, represents the gold childhood cancer ribbon and how our “gold” hearts are with the multitude of families affected. Having a golden heart means leading with a heart centered around the golden rule, which states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Our mission is to have a golden heart for others by spreading awareness for young children who should not be suffering. Cancer doesn't discriminate.

Green Zone Sophie Wang
My organization's overall mission is to advocate for pollinator protection. My Green Zone mosquito spray is made of pollinator-safe and environmentally friendly ingredients that still effectively repel mosquitos. Through my Green Zone projects, I am hoping to both bring attention to the issue of diminishing global populations and also allow everyone to contribute to the cause in a small way by using this spray. I am donating my proceeds to Pollinator Partnership, a credible nonprofit that works to preserve pollinators habitats, revive ecosystems, and encourage research, policy change, and education throughout North America. Anthea Economy, Student Volunteers Build, connect, and learn. The Guatemala Global Education program offers an experiential learning opportunity to discover ties between the United States and Guatemala, collaborate to raise funds, build new homes, and connect with the people of Guatemala. In Guatemala, using materials purchased through fundraising, Westminster students will work with Guatemalan families and our partner organization, From Houses to Homes, to build houses, making them strong, safe, culturally appropriate, and affordable to maintain. The homes are part of a wider attempt to connect the families with educational, healthcare, and housing opportunities.

Heart for Africa
Hope Freeman, Ashlee Freeman, Hallie Harris, Leighton Harris In Eswatini, over 50% of the population lives below the national poverty line and makes less than two dollars per day. Expanding employment opportunities to lift people out of poverty provides needed income and support, and fulfills a central part of Heart for Africa’s mission of bringing HOPE to the people of Eswatini. Khutsala™ Artisans (Khutsala meaning "hard working" in the siSwati language) was created to provide profits that go toward caring for orphans and vulnerable children. This Heart for Africa initiative provides employment for women and men from all over the Kingdom of Eswatini. Each employee receives training in multiple areas including, but not limited to, bead craft, jewelry making, and ceramics. HeART for Charity
Katherine Andrews, Dorothy Verner HeART for Charity works to the brighten the lives and create a positive impact on the mental health of underserved seniors and hospitalized children through art therapy. With the help of our volunteers and partners, we have donated thousands of original pieces of art to seniors and sent hundreds of coloring books to hospitalized children.

IsraAID
Middle School Jewish Affinity Group IsraAID is an international non-governmental humanitarian aid organization based in Israel that was founded in 2001. Their goal is disaster relief and international development. It is currently the largest humanitarian aid organization in Israel. They’ve worked to help communities after everything from natural disasters to forced displacement. They take a unique approach to helping, with a ‘communities first’ mentality. IsraAID works closely with the community in order to maximize their effectiveness, with a focus on developing a tight bond with those around them. IsraAID also brings in specific technologies that can support long-term success. Coming from Israel, they have a significant amount of experience handling trauma, water scarcity, and disaster relief and preparedness. They have operated in over 60 countries to support emergency and long-term development.

I have been making handcrafted jewelry since I was in kindergarten. During the pandemic, I had some extra time at home and I wanted to use my skills to raise money for an organization helping the underprivileged. I teamed up with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and set a goal to raise $10,000 by selling my polymer clay jewelry. I met the goal in a month and a half during fourth grade at Westminster. This successful fundraiser gave me the impetus to participate in more such endeavors. I had a stall in Spotlight on Art at Trinity School and the AGF in fifth and sixth grade. This will be my third year in the AGF. I am grateful to Westminster for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity, and I can't wait to showcase my talent again this year!

Once Upon a Room is a nonprofit organization with a mission to bring joy to children who are staying long-term in hospitals. Hospital rooms can be dreary and depressing, but Once Upon a Room believes that decorating these rooms in a personalized way can help brighten moods and speed up the recovery process. Their mission is to “to enrich the lives of hospitalized children, teens, and infants who are fighting serious illnesses and long-term acute trauma.” To fulfill their mission, they provide custom hospital room makeovers and events to promote happiness and healing for critically ill pediatric patients, both in-hospital and outpatient. Once Upon a Room’s Atlanta chapter opened in March 2022 to decorate rooms for patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with the help of volunteers and donors. Sixty Feet
Emma Grace Roe Sixty Feet serves imprisoned children in Uganda by meeting their immediate needs and seeking their long-term restoration. Our team of nurses, social workers, and Bible teachers works with children who are in contact with the law to bring them hope and healing. We seek to reunite families, teach children about Jesus, provide educational opportunities, and meet the essential needs of children by providing things such as food, soap, and clothing. For $60, you can serve one child for the entirety of their time in a facility. This includes any needed medical treatment, clothing (children often arrive with only the clothes they are wearing), discipleship programs, educational opportunities, and much more. They come into our lives typically experiencing multiple vulnerabilities, including homelessness, malnutrition, living on the streets, abuse, or abandonment. Your support allows us to come alongside these children and love them as Jesus does: by meeting their real needs and telling them about his love.

The reason I chose refugees this year is because my mom has been involved in assisting migrants across the border. I want to continue her work this year by donating to Salvavision, an organization in Arizona helping people seeking asylum. Every year, I look forward to making slime for this gift fair with my cousins, who are young and love to make slime. Slime has been an important aspect of my life. I use it when I'm stressed and utilize the healing properties it has, and I also give the slime I don't sell to a local shelter for kids. I have always been taught to give back from my parents, and this fair is how I do it. StandUp for Kids is national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness that also serves homeless youth in Atlanta. Since 1990, they have cared for homeless and at-risk youth by transitioning them from crisis to connection. The youth they serve feel a sense of safety, hope, and belonging through housing support, mentoring, drop-in centers, and street outreach. Every single day, kids and adults have to walk miles to get dirty water from all bodies of water. Most children in Africa skip school to get water that’s not even clean! Waterborne diseases kill more than two million people, mostly children, every year. Globally, diseases from dirty water kill more people than violence, including war. Children are the most affected by waterborne diseases because they don’t have enough strength to fight them. Some facts about dirty water are that 663 million people live without clean water—that’s twice the US population!—access to clean water and basic sanitation can save 16,000 lives each week, and clean water helps keep kids in school, particularly girls. The proceeds my group makes will go to Uzima Filters to buy water filters for people who don’t have them in Africa.

The Way Out is a nonprofit organization created to help support underfunded communities in Atlanta and Augusta, Georgia. They focus on supporting youth and young adults who wish to pursue the arts. We hold fundraisers and host concerts in an attempt to expose more teenagers to music and encourage them to consider following a career path in the arts. Children and young adults can attend our concerts for free, and we make a point to try and connect them with talented musicians if they are interested in what was performed. Our founder, Woodrow Miller Jr., held a firm belief that education was the key to success. One of the missions of the Zaban Paradise Center at The Temple in Atlanta is to keep couples together as they transition from being homeless to finding permanent places to live. Fortunately, the Zambezi Elephant Fund (ZEF) is working to mitigate these threats. ZEF works with local authorities across the Zambezi Valley to protect the elephants and other wildlife by preserving their habitat.
