Wentworth Falls

The traditional land of the Dharug and Gundungurra People, Wentworth Falls is a town in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. Originally named ‘Weatherboard’ after the Weatherboard Hut, and then ‘Jamison’s Valley’ by Governor Macquarie, it wasn’t until 1879 that the name of the town was changed to Wentworth Falls in honour of William Charles Wentworth.

We are headed towards the Auburn Botanic Gardens, a few kilometres out of the city centre, and home to an incredible Japanese Garden but along the way we stopped to admire the Russian Old Rite Orthodox Church, which is also another stand out piece of religious architecture.

Arriving at the Botanic Gardens, you are immediately transported to another world.

The Botanic Gardens is vast with lots to explore and is most famous for its Spring Cherry Blossoms which is something of a must see, but the truth is the gardens are spectacular any time of the year.

Bilpin is a town situated in the Blue Mountains, within the local Bilpin

government area of the City of Hawkesbury. On the traditional land of the Dharug People, Bilpin was heavily affected as a result of the 2019 – 2020 Black Summer bushfires. Having made an amazing transformation, the historic town is again thriving with cellar doors, orchards, and history. We headed into the heart of Richmond to explore this much loved local, and we can honestly say it is one of the most amazing pubs we have ever visited!

Walking inside, you instantly feel the history of the site, from the heritage front bar to the framed photos of past owners and local families on the walls, you begin to appreciate the stories and memories which have been created here over many years.

Further in, you’re greeted with greenery and sunlight pouring into the pub’s new atrium bistro, designed so well that it’s spacious enough to hold big country-

The menu is a celebration of the wonderful produce available around the Hawkesbury and the seasonal menus are designed around that. One of our favourite additions to the bistro would have to be the gelato bar.

The bistro leads out to a huge outdoor courtyard, perfect for afternoon beers and alfresco dining. Other features include a newly-renovated cocktail lounge with fireplaces and a solid heritage wood bar, front sports bar and VIP lounge, so there is definitely something for everyone.
