Entertainment at the Bowls Club What a wonderful and heartwarming experience at the Bowling Club last Sunday afternoon. We were treated to the amazing talents of the beautiful Chenai Boucher performing for us. She is an accomplished musician, playing guitar, keyboard and harmonica and teamed up with our local band The Groove Dudes (under the alias of The Country Dudes for the day) and they kept our feet tapping along to the music. Chenai has written most of the songs she shared with us and many were inspired by memories of her life experiences. She and her
partner Brett, originally come from Rockhampton, where Chenai had become very well-known, and now they have settled in Bendigo. The two Jans “discovered” Chenai when they heard her sing there and she accepted an invitation to come to Dunolly to entertain us. She has already performed at the Railway Hotel recently and when you hear Chenai sing, you just want more. We were also treated to our Jan Stephenson with his group and later with Chenai when they sang duets together. I thought Jan sounded very much like Johnny Cash in one of his songs.
To add to the fun of the afternoon, Chenai managed to influence many brave souls to join in dancing the Nutbush under her supervision. A few enthusiastic visitors tried their hand at bowling on the well-tended greens of the club. A big thank you must go to the Dunolly Bowls Club for putting on these music afternoons and to the wonderful friendly duo of Raeleen and Don behind the bar. It was great to see so many bowlers and townsfolk in attendance. Well done. Cynthia Lindsay
