Their much-needed takeaway menu helped to provide an alternative for locals during periods of lockdown and at other times has proved to be a popular choice on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night for those who need a well-earned break from cooking. Despite the sometimes

challenging times over the past couple of years, the Gold & Grain Café continues to be a favourite haunt of many and the welcoming atmosphere, quality food and friendly service draw in locals, friends and visitors from far and wide. It is also a popular choice for group bookings for birthdays, Christmas parties and other special occasions, with a variety of menu choices available.

I have watched a number of documentaries about Pompeii and Vesuvius lately. As usual, the presenter is pointing out wonderful things that are below the surface, 25 metres in some places. He got through narrow passages, and declared he was the first person there for centuries. What about the camera person? Surely they go ahead to take the film.

I have another really annoying TV ad to complain about.

That extremely annoying woman with an even more annoying four-piece cough, does another false series of coughs before finding her Strepsils. It really irks me for some reason.

I’ve been, with about half the world, watching the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations – I gave the concert a miss.

The sheer number of horses involved was amazing. All those beautiful black animals. I did notice that the riders of the big drum horses controlled them with reins around their feet and up to the headgear. Lovely to see the Queen’s reaction to her horses at the end of the Tattoo. She did a great job to turn up when she did, considering her mobility problems.

It was truly amazing that there were thousands of people in the Mall, and there seemed to be no real trouble. Some countries would have had bad riots.

From the Editors Desk Changes to distribution

From 15th June, we will be making some changes to where you can collect your paper copy of our latest issue.

As a not for profit organisation, run by a small band of volunteers, we need to make operational changes to remain viable and be able to publish each week. Access to the latest issue online will also be changing to Thursday mornings.

This decision has not been made lightly. With rising operational costs and limited income resources, our small band of multiskilled volunteers work hard each week to ensure a weekly paper is produced, still with a donation price of 50 cents.

We thank our previous distribution locations for allowing placement of our weekly issues at their sites.

The Queen

No matter whether you’re a monarchist or pro republic, you would agree that Queen Elizabeth ll is a most remarkable woman. Just like everyone else, the Queen has experienced the many traumas of family life, including deaths, divorces, tragedies and scandals and has always remained strong and stolid.

In her amazingly long 96 years and 70 years as the reigning Queen, she has consistently carried out all her many royal duties, engendering affection and respect from the whole world. She has always appeared in public with her charming smile, greeting all and sundry with genuine warmth, so I believe she thoroughly deserves the accolades and celebrations of the present Jubilee.

We should remind ourselves that next Monday’s public holiday is courtesy of the Queen. Thank you, Your Majesty!

Vintage Blanket Coat Project We started the Cate Green sewing project last Saturday.

There were six of us and it was a fun and informative class. Unfortunately, one of the ladies was unable to attend, but has generously donated her tuition fees for the full course to someone who might want to take her place and join the class for the next five lessons.

Queen in Broadway The rumours around town have recently been confirmed, regarding the much-anticipated return of our own Queen Victoria to Dunolly’s business district in Broadway.

The Queen has indicated that she will be gracing many of the shops with her presence during the next Dunolly Community Market, on Sunday 12th June, between 10am and 1pm, so there will be many photo opportunities for her loyal subjects.

We have also heard a whisper that Queen Victoria may be accompanied by another right Royal presence, so it should make for an interesting day!

$250 Power Saving Bonus, and upcoming ‘Energy Compare’ bonus Lately I’ve helped a few more residents apply for the state government’s ‘Power Saving Bonus’ of $250, and we have until the end of the month to apply for this oneoff bonus for Centrelink payment recipients. I’m looking forward to the next state government bonus that’s available to all households that wish to apply. This one is the ‘Energy Compare’ bonus, and households will receive a one-off $250 payment for going to the Energy Compare website and comparing the different energy providers. I’ll be able to help anyone who needs it, from the start of July.

Card making and scrapbooking with Rhonda Rhonda brings her creative skills to the Centre every 3rd Monday of the month at 1.30pm. Come along and create some memorable greeting cards, a scrapbook, or even a fancy jewellery box. Rhonda brings all the materials, and the cost is $12 per session (1.5- 2 hours).

Shay Reunion Two sisters visiting from Queensland prompted a gettogether for the family of the late Dorrie Shay at the Church of England Hall in Dunolly on Sunday 29th May. It was a fantastic day with a very good attendance, considering it was such short notice.

Five of the seven of Dorrie’s children were able to attend.

Robert, the eldest, passed away in a tractor accident in 1982 and the youngest, Trevor, was unable to attend.

Covid prevented some of the younger ones from coming.

Present were Beth (Robert’s wife), Marian and Bob Pretty, Bessie (Height), Geoff and Marj Shay, Yvonne (Watts) and Alice (Raven).

Fifteen immediate family members sat down to a 3-course lunch, to which everyone contributed. We were pleased to have another 18 cousins and some of their family members join us for afternoon tea and a chat.

Bessie and Yvonne travelled from Queensland and Beth and her family from Yarram and Yarragon. The remainder were situated in the district. Everyone agreed it was lovely that it didn’t take a sad occasion for us all to get together.

Ongoing support for Dunolly Sports Precinct Beginning my second term in federal parliament is deeply humbling and has a tang of bittersweet. I am excited to represent the wonderful communities within Mallee in Canberra, but of course from the Opposition bench. This will hold greater challenges.

I entered parliament to be Mallee’s voice and representative to fight for investment, funding, and policies, and to work with my colleagues in the Liberal and National Party to ensure that the interests of those who choose to live in our region are heard loud and clear on Capital Hill.

I offered myself to serve Mallee again at this recent election and I am grateful that an increased majority has given me the opportunity to do so.

Over the election many funding promises were given by the National Party on the proviso that the Coalition was successfully returned to government, and while the National Party won every seat, the Liberal Party did not, and that has positioned me to face the drawing board again to advocate for countless projects from across the electorate.

These are projects that communities are rightly passionate about and I remain enthusiastic to support. I am committed to continue the fight for them as we head into three years of Opposition.

I keep firmly in my mind the need for workforce across every sector, road and infrastructure improvements, rail efficiency, connectivity, and health service delivery in every shire across Mallee, as well as childcare, aged care and education opportunities to keep our best and brightest in the regions.

In addition, sporting precincts are high on my list of funding needs including the Dunolly Sports Precinct. I know it was so exciting for the clubs involved to have the funding announced for the election and now we begin again. I will be writing to the Sports Minister to seek her support for Dunolly.

I have begun my second term seeking appointments with ministers to further these projects and I look forward to the opportunity of raising my voice in parliament to promote the interests of small business, health services, education services, aged care, sports groups and families across Mallee.

Central Goldfields Shire Council News Mayoral Column With new added opportunity comes the challenge to actively engage and benefit from it. Council has lobbied over many years firstly for the restoration of passenger train services to our Shire and then on additions and enhancements. This included the addition of passenger services to Talbot and an additional weekday service.

Council’s recent priority has been on achieving weekend services coming into Maryborough in the morning and returning in the afternoon on both days. That offers substantial upside to recovering tourism, hospitality and retail industries as well as offering residents added travel opportunities. It was a thrill when the Victorian Government delivered this in the current Budget with commencement planning underway.

Future advocacy includes added weekday services, extension of the service to Dunolly, better ticketing access and introduction of the Myki system, the economic benefits of a Vline crew changeover depot in Maryborough and other regional enhancements.

We all have an opportunity to use both the existing services, where patronage has been dented by Covid, and these added services more fully.

We can invite friends and relatives to visit and use the train, possibly utilising a hire car on arrival. What a wonderful weekend away for them.

In addition why not plan evenings or weekends catching up with the family or friends in Melbourne or elsewhere using the train? Community organisations might plan travel trips to key events. The possibilities are endless.

Let’s make sure we use the wonderful passenger rail opportunities we have. They are the envy of many.

50 percent fee discount for sporting clubs In support of local sporting clubs in their recovery from the pandemic, Council approved a 50 percent fee discount for the 2022/23 Financial Year.

Cynthia's Travels The sky is blue as blue, the sun is warm as warm, not a single cloud in the sky; a little breeze ripples over the water in the pool as I lie back on the chaise longue on the green, green grass, watching the many colourful birds flitting through the lush tropical growth.

Yesterday, someone told me that it was winter now, but they must have been having me on. I apologise if the above is a little insensitive for my friends down south, but I just couldn’t help it.

At present I am in Hervey Bay visiting my family, but last week I spent a few days in Brisbane. Imagine my amazement when I arrived at the city apartment where I was to stay with my daughter and discovered we were on the 69th floor! From the floor to ceiling wrap-around windows we were overlooking the Story Bridge, with the Brisbane River snaking all around the city. I felt as though I was viewing the whole of Brisbane, with the distant hills in the background. Gazing down at the 40 and 50 storey buildings, they hardly looked tall at all. Every time we descended in the lift, it travelled so fast that it felt like we’d only gone a few floors and our ears would pop. As night fell watching all the lights on all over the city was pure magic.

Our building had a special card system for the lifts and you needed to request your floor before entering. Once in the lift there were no buttons and you could only travel to the floor where you were staying. So, no sneaking off to chase down the very attractive man you spotted in the lobby!

On the second day, we took a river cruise up the winding Brisbane River, the best way to see the whole of the city, with a commentary pointing out all the interesting sights along the way. During the journey we were treated to a delicious Devonshire morning tea. Unfortunately, we were expecting lunch to be served on board, but as it turned out it was necessary to disembark and walk to a nearby hotel.

The walk was rather a long one, but the end result was worth it. The hotel was a beautiful old building, built on Breakfast Creek and hence taking its name from the creek.

The old pub was fascinating, over 100 years old and much of it preserved as the original building. There was the old Private Bar and Public Bar, looking much as they would have over 50 years ago and retaining the original old tiles and timber. We enjoyed a delicious lunch under the shady trees in the newer part of the hotel, a lovely outdoor space to make the most of the gorgeous Queensland weather.

Apparently, a number of well-known sports people have visited this hotel and in the passage was a glass case with

autographed plates. They included Ash Barty, Samantha Stosur, Adam Gilchrist and many others.

Our last port of call was to a seafood restaurant at Kangaroo Point called One Fish Two Fish. The last time I was in Brisbane, quite a few months ago, as I later mentioned in one of my stories, a very nice couple struck up a conversation with me and my two daughters in one of the Brisbane restaurants where we were dining. They were having a celebratory dinner, having just bought their dream home. As they were leaving, they told us of their restaurant in Kangaroo Point and we promised to visit on my next trip.

And then when we went to pay our bill, we discovered they had paid for our dinner! So, we definitely had to repay them by dining in their restaurant.

When we arrived, we were dismayed to discover that they had a prior engagement and were not at the restaurant that night. It was a bit of a letdown as we had been so looking forward to seeing them, but they had left instructions to treat us as VIPs and so they did.

Next stop is a trip to Maleny in the Hinterland, overlooking the Glass House Mountains, to visit more family and then I will be preparing myself to leave the 25-degree days here and return to reality of a Dunolly winter.

Wood and fabric gliders Since the 1970s the materials of choice for constructing the vast majority of gliders have been glass fibre or carbon fibre, but gliders constructed of wood and fabric were flying a long time before this.

It's actually still a bit of a mystery exactly when the first gliders flew successfully, but people have been trying for a long time. The first really credited was Lilienthal in the 1800s, but there are claims that people have made attempts for over a thousand years and it is even rumoured that Leonardo Da Vinci made a successful attempt in the 1400s— his drawings certainly indicate he was on the right track.

Real recreational gliders began to appear around the 1920s. They were built from materials available at the time, wood and fabric, and there are many vintage glider enthusiasts around now who have maintained, renovated and sometimes built from scratch these old flying machines.

Vintage gliders are great, they generally don't look like modern gliders and many have the appearance of birds, with oddly shaped and angled wings.

Of course, they were designed when humans were just learning the principles of flight, so most are not very efficient, however they certainly have the ability to stay airborne for long periods and can in their own quirky way be just as much fun to fly as a modern glider.

The frames of vintage gliders are made from wood, carefully crafted and shaped to be light yet strong. This frame has fabric stretched over which is then painted, sometimes in spectacular colours and patterns. It's pretty common for vintage gliders to have that charming antique wood smell inside the cockpit and most have instrument panels made from varnished wood.

There are a number of vintage gliders based at Bendigo Gliding Club's Raywood airfield and they can generally be identified because, unlike modern gliders which are normally a boring white, vintage gliders often have outrageous and colourful paint schemes.

Central Goldfields Art Gallery Looking to Recruit Volunteers Volunteering in an art gallery is a unique opportunity and there is plenty of excitement building with the refurbishments underway at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery.

The redesigned Gallery will provide a stimulating environment to proudly share exhibitions with visitors and local residents.

Although the Gallery is still under construction, they are actively recruiting volunteers now so that orientation and training can be done in time for the re-opening.

The gallery is looking for friendly and approachable people to welcome visitors to the gallery. They are also interested in volunteers who are able to assist with exhibition installations and pack up.

Some basic computing skills would be useful and the ability to interact in a friendly, positive and enthusiastic manner is an essential personal quality. Induction and training will be provided. Volunteers must have a police check and a Working With Children Check.

Experienced volunteer, Sarah Norris thoroughly enjoys her time at the art gallery explaining that, “Volunteering at the Gallery for me is about the people you meet. Lots of people come up from Melbourne and all around the place − not just the locals. I enjoy meeting people, seeing the art exhibitions and being amongst the art. The gallery redevelopment will make my experience even better."

Central Goldfields Residents and Ratepayers Assoc. Inc. Over the past weeks, Council has had two very key draft documents up for public comment.

1. The 2022-23 Draft Budget, and 2. The Draft Maryborough Major Sport and Recreation Reserve Master Plans Both items received a lot of interest.

The Draft Budget mainly through online submission, and the Reserves master plan online and two community consultations. We eagerly await the final plans and final budget.

Council decided to put back the Reserves public consultation from May (one session) to June 1 (two sessions 4 pm and 6 pm). A decision which was most appreciated. We had two representatives attend the 4pm session on 1st June 2022.

The session started with one Councillor, one Council representative and Malcolm Kuhn the representative from Otium Group (the compilers of the Plan), with approximately ten locals and several children present.

Another Councillor turned up during the session. The presentation started with a mention that all public submissions and the Recreation and Open Spaces Strategy (also compiled by Otium) 2020-2029 were used.

There were many discussions around Soccer, Youth Gymnastics, Youth Dancing, Splash Park, grey nomad parking and each plan for Jack Pascoe Reserve, Princes Park and J.H. Hedges Memorial Park Reserves were all well discussed. In general, a very well-contributed workshop. Possibly more time could have been allocated, as we feel it was hurried due to time constraints.

Throughout the public consultation, it was discovered that three key issues from the 2020-29 Open space plan had been overlooked: 1. Youth Gymnastics.

2. Youth Dancing.

3. Female-friendly Sporting Facilities.

There was also an admission that neither the Councillors nor Otium had actually seen the public submissions, a red flag raised, as it had been stated prior that they been taken into consideration.

On the youth activities, they used to be held in the Maryborough Town Hall, and since its closing have been

at several other venues. A question was posed from the gallery “What is the timeline for the repair of the Town Hall, and could Council give an undertaking that the youth activities will return?” The response from one Councillor was “We have plans for the Town Hall” nothing more offered. Which raises another question — what are those plans?

The Splash Park was strongly raised on many fronts, as well as options for the Hedges oval plan.

The last question was “Can Council explain why, in the 2020-21 Budget, $50K was allocated for the drafting of plans for the Splash Park and it was on the priority list, to now where it's not a priority and its location appears to be uncertain. May we see the plans from the 2020-21 budget allocation?” A copy of the 2020-21 Budget splash park allocation was handed over to Council representatives by the person asking the question. We were informed “There was no plan for the Splash Park drawn up” and the workshop closed shortly after.

Fantastic to see the Council reduce costs for local clubs, also great to see that the Council Customer Satisfaction Survey should be out shortly. The previous years have been an average of 52 in 2017, 43 in 2018, 57 in 2019, 53 in 2020, then 53 in 2021. Looking for a strong improvement in this year's results.

With the 30th Energy Breakthrough this year there are calls for volunteers. Please contact the Shire for details should you wish to assist.

Council has opened the Community Grants Program until 13th June 2022. Any community-based organization seeking financial support, please contact the Shire on 5461 0610.

With winter upon us and by all accounts, predictions of a wetter and colder winter, we ask you all keep an eye out for your neighbours, the elderly, disabled and family and assist where you can.

Tarnagulla & District Golf Club Inc Hello to Tarnagulla & District Golf Club members, supporters, families and friends, We're having the Queen's Birthday Bash on the Saturday morning of the Queen's Birthday weekend. Everyone is very welcome. This will be a fun event where we play Stableford Pairs, teeing off around 9.30 to 10am. Even if you've never played Stableford before, just play in pairs and each record your score for each hole. Then we work out, using your handicap, the Stableford points, which can be plus or zero points for each hole. The points for each pair will be added up by us at the clubhouse.

Come along and enjoy the course, as it’s playing so beautifully. The course looks a treat and we thank the wonderful volunteers who keep it looking marvellous. It's always invigorating to walk around the course and enjoy the bush, the bird life, (often the kangaroos) and the fresh air. Of course, talking to friends as you play the round, and afterwards sharing laughs in the clubhouse, is a treat.

The Entry Fee is $15 per person or free to all Members.

Winter garden tips

June is one of the coldest months with limited seed sowing. Parsnip seeds can be sown from now until the end of October. The seeds sown now will be slow germinating unless a raised clear plastic cover can be put over them, but must be removed when the seeds emerge, or else the stem will grow tall and weak.

Sugar snap, snow peas and telephone peas can be sown now. Choose a sunny well drained position next to a fence or trellis, add compost and blood and bone. Water after sowing then do not water again until shoots appear, as overwatering can rot the seeds.

Swedes, turnips and radishes can also be sown in deep well drained soil. These can also be grown in pots if you have limited garden space. Protect all seedlings from slugs and snails Plants of early maturing onions can be transplanted out now, like flat white, early globe and odourless; these varieties are less likely to run prematurely to seed. Spring onion plants (not seeds) planted now can be very useful in the springtime when most of the long keeping browns are finished.

It is worth planting out some late plants of broccoli or sugar loaf cabbage, if space is available in the garden.

All winter greens need to be fertilised now, to make strong healthy plants.

Rhubarb crowns and strawberry runners can be planted this month. Both like well manured and composted friable soil.

* A seaweed tea, or any low environmental impact liquid fertiliser are perfect for the seedlings you’ve just popped in. Apply to the soil early in the morning, and follow directions on the packet. * Plant some beneficial insect attractors like dianthus, cornflower, pansy, viola, verbena and lupins. * Prune hydrangeas when bare, back to two fat buds and remove any old wood. * Be sure to get rid of the last of the autumn leaves with a blower or blower vac. Leaves can become slippery after rain, not to mention detrimental to your lawn, and can smother small plants!

Prepare for frosts by moving frost tender plants under shelter if possible or cover overnight with a breathable cloth like a sheet or shade cloth. A sensible solution to frosts is to plant frost tender plants in protected areas, and more tolerant plants out in the open.

Fruit Trees Some fruit trees can be pruned this month. The early pruned trees will make early growth, then the frost can burn off the young buds, it is best to leave most pruning until late July to avoid frost damage.

After leaf fall all trees can be sprayed with bordeaux mixture, to help to control pest and diseases for next seasons crop. Spray again at bud swell or bud burst in late winter or early spring.

Bare rooted fruit and deciduous trees will be starting to arrive in your local nursery. This is the cheapest and easiest way to purchase and is less stressful for the tree as it is dormant. Pick trees with a nice shape, and don’t forget to prune them back before you plant them out (best thing to do is ask the local nursery to do it for you).

Remember to make sure you have the correct pollinators to ensure a good crop.

Spiced Pumpkin Soup

Ingredients 2 tbsp olive oil.

1 garlic clove, crushed. ½ tsp ground coriander. ½ tsp freshly grated nutmeg.

1 large potato, peeled, diced.

1 onion, finely chopped.

1 leek, white part only sliced.

1 tsp ground cumin.

1kg peeled pumpkin, diced.

1L chicken liquid stock or vegetable liquid stock. ½ cup (125ml) thin cream.

Method 1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over low heat, add onion and leek and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened but not coloured.

2. Add garlic and spices and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds.

3. Add pumpkin, potato and stock and bring to the boil.

Turn heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Allow to cool slightly then blend in batches.

4. Return soup to pan, stir through cream and reheat gently. Season and add a little more nutmeg if desired.

The Group Craft Exhibition was held in Maldon. We give our congratulations to Colleen Fogarty for her prizes – second for the home-made bread, and best exhibit in the show – a beautiful coat made from recycled material.

This coat is going to the State Exhibition in Tallangatta later in the year. Anyone who would like to join CWA, we meet at the Neighbourhood Centre, the first Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm.

We headed off to Trentham this week, it was a wet and soggy day, but we had a great turn out of players — some wins and losses, but getting better every week. The vibe around the club is feeling really good. If you are a member or new, we would love to have you at our club. A big thanks once again to our volunteers.

The boys headed on down to the lovely Trentham, where we were greeted with the perfect weather. We started strong and kicked a goal to be level at the first break.

Unfortunately Trentham played the ground and conditions a lot better, I think some of our boys are still thawing out. All in all, it was a great team effort in trying circumstances and we kicked two goals. Connor OwenGale was best man on the ground followed closely by Forster and Scott.

Reserves Report

A weekend trip to Trentham always presents a different type of day for Football and this trip was no exception with Trentham inviting us in their typical cold and wet style that players dread travelling for.

The Reserves Team went in full of promise, with a few names returning to the line-up, however, as has been the luck all year, missed some through availability and illness.

Trentham, a Top four team, were expected to be all over us from the start but were met with some early resistance. Our players adjusted to the conditions quickly, to get some confidence off the start and compete for much of the first quarter. Reward came by way of a Trent Clarkson goal, which he flushed after being awarded a 50m penalty, only for the team to be cruelled by injuries that left them without a bench for the remainder of the day. Trentham showed their class throughout the rest of the match, being cleaner with the ball in trying conditions and taking advantage of our lack of bench to run our players hard to take a comfortable win.

Some positives to take though with Nic Ryan clunking grabs all over the ground and Axel Kerr getting himself a goal. Best Players were Nic Ryan, Caeleb Bull & Trent Clarkson Andrew Bearpark, Reserves Coach

Seniors Report

Cold, wet and miserable summed up our day on and off the field. From the onset, we had our backs against the wall with Trentham kicking the first three goals in quick succession. They continued scoring due to wanting the ball more, being first into the contest, while we gave away a few clumsy free kicks.

12 goals down at half time, with the weather reaching a measly three degrees, the second half was always going to be sloppy. We needed to up our intensity and urge to play for each other. We managed to slow the scoring rate of Trentham, keeping them to six second-half goals.

Unfortunately, we didn’t make our forward entries count, resulting in the final score line of 18.21-129 to 0.4-4.

Bailey Goodwin and Lachie Tranter lead our better players for the day, being clean with the ball when not many others were. Other better players for the day were Bailey Wingrave, Joel Fisher, Max Ryan and Xavier Ryan.

Dunolly Football Netball Club Netball Report 13s: The girls started the day strong in very cold and wet conditions. A fantastic team effort winning 50 -5. Award went to Hannah.

15s: The girls took a little bit to get used to the wet conditions with some scrappy play. It didn’t take them long to adjust and run the game out comfortable winners 33-3.

Chloe was awarded the incentive.

17s: It was a very close first half with both teams finding it hard to convert. Trentham were able to take control of the game in the second half, but our girls once again, never gave up. We went down 11-25.

C Grade: Played a very steady game and showed some great defensive pressure. We went down 3-34, but each week the score is getting closer and closer. Incentives were awarded to Cinta and Katherine.

B Grade: We started a little slow in the first quarter and Trentham took advantage of this. The girls regrouped and it was a very even second and third quarter. Trentham stepped up a gear and ran away winners. We went down 31-15. Incentives were awarded to Ellen and Maddi.

A Grade: The clouds opened up just as the game began so it was a slow start from both teams. Trentham took an early lead and although we fought back each quarter, Trentham were able to steady and maintain their lead. We went down 27-36. Incentives were awarded to Leah and Kate.

A huge congratulations to Hannah Freemantle who played her 50th netball game and to Chloe Goodwin who played her 100th game. Both these girls are incredible club people and we are so grateful to have them as a part of our club.

Always something to see at Dunolly Museum Visitors to the Dunolly Museum in Broadway are always amazed at the huge collection of artefacts housed in the building, reflecting the colourful past of the area.

In recent months, two of our volunteers, Kim and Nicola have dressed in period clothing to welcome tourists who arrive at the Museum on a Wednesday or Friday, adding an extra air of authenticity to the experience.

Both are talented needleworkers and are proficient at producing a variety of old-fashioned outfits, often also turning their hand to other traditional crafts.

In these photos, they could be seen patiently working on their intricate bobbin lace projects, in between showing visitors through the Museum and helping them with their enquiries.

The Museum also has a Facebook group called Dunolly Museum and posts regular updates.
