Over the past few years there have been challenges. Challenges which our amazing community has endured and come out of - strong and moving forward. Our council wards also have endured many promises from state, federal and local representa ves which appear s ll to be on the wish list and keep ge ng promised. None more than the train service to Dunolly. Where is that train? How many more promises do we have to receive before it may be a reality? Issues like the Deledio Oval, roads fixed, overnight free parking, accredita on, trust and belief in the council and system? Which brings us to the State Government's Collabora ve Consulta on which our council has adopted.

So many commi ees with council hand-picked members which start with huge promise, and just about every selected commi ee finishes their task with vastly reduced numbers, and reported loss of confidence in the system. For e.g the C.A.G. (Community Advisory Group) started with over 20 members, reportedly finished with less than 10 community members. The council obviously valued their efforts, a er sta ng council will con nue to engage C.A.G but virtually no contact has been made. Now look at the airport taskforce, numbers depleted and members exi ng, not to men on the Carisbrook levee commi ee. The Heritage Commi ee started without the required number of community members. Most community par cipants reported to having displeasure and li le confidence in council and councillors. Then we look at community volunteers with the above-men oned concerns and the volunteers not feeling valued, the numbers are diminishing. Could there be a common denominator here?

CGR&RAI have been pondering on the volunteer and community par cipa on numbers declining. We decided to place an album up of the elected councillors’ promises and elec on spiels to remind the councillors and community of what was promised, and also to gauge if our elected councillors are true to their pledges. The album is available in this linkh ps://www.facebook.com/media/set/? vanity=cgoldratepayers&set=a.281463717607017 So many fantas c promises, e.g. the promise to address the CIV difference, and address transparency and trust in the council and councillors, is interes ng to read. There are so many concerns, and the way through this is for councillors and council to meet with the community, listen and work together. We are all in the same boat, let us at least arrive at the des na on united. The cold weather appears to have set in, please keep an eye out for others and assist where you can. Please look a er each other. Thank you.
