From the Editor...
You may have no ced that we printed/distributed our paper last Thursday instead of our regular Wednesday a ernoon. This was due to safety concerns for our volunteers coming into the office for produc on and distribu on during heavy rain. It is likely that this will happen throughout Winter, so we ask that you kindly, bear with us.

Great winter ac vi es from the Op Shop. Grey and dull outside, threatening rain again, do not be concerned with all that. We have supplies which will make those dull wintry days crea ve and produc ve.
Dear Editor, Four Tune Salon Concert
From the opening bars of the theme from the Muppet Show to the closing notes of ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’, Four Tune kept us all entertained.
They performed a diverse range of songs, many a cappella, some accompanied by pianist Pam Chris e. The old English folk song ‘Hey Nonny’ had a 21st century update with Facebook and Twi er woven into the lyrics. It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday a ernoon in winter.

Healthy Food for Sport
improve healthy ea ng and reduce sugary drinks consump on.”
The DFNC had always provided toas es, soups, and casseroles, for the Thursday night players and on Game Days but now with healthier ingredients.
The program is not about disrespec ng anyone’s food choice but to provide tasty, healthier alterna ves.
Hmenu as The Victorian Government’s Healthy Loddon Campaspe and Vic Kids Eat Well ini a ves along with the Central Goldfields Shire have been working with our Dunolly Football and Netball Club (DFNC) to support healthy food op ons at their canteens.
Dunolly’s Football Netball Club spearheads the ini a ve this spor ng season, with the program providing DFNC with muchneeded small-scale kitchen equipment such as a sandwich press, display fridges, slow cookers, and air fryers to enable healthy food prepara on. In addi on, new menu boards and signage being developed will soon be available.
Tarr said the data from the 2019 Ac ve Living Census highlighted concerns regarding Loddon Campaspe residents not consuming enough of the foods and drinks needed for good health and wellbeing.
“Less than half (48%) of residents across the Loddon Campaspe region meet the recommended intake of fruits, just 13% meet the recommended intake of vegetables, 14% consume sugarsweetened beverages daily, and two-thirds of the popula on are overweight or obese.
“Our aim through the ‘Healthy Sports Clubs’ project is to support local spor ng clubs to offer healthy food and drinks which in turn aims to reduce obesity,
Central Goldfields Shire Healthy Kids Advisor Ciel Lindley said We’re not asking clubs to take the Chips or Pies away but maybe air-fry the chips for a healthier op on. Kids who come to the Canteen a er Sports Prac ce –that’s usually their Dinner for the night. Most children don’t have independence when making food choices so we provide delicious, seasonal op ons – Veggie Forward and Healthy. It’s about crea ng a good rela onship with Food, for Life.”
Natalie Conlin, DFNC Secretary and Canteen Manager said “We feed 60-65 kids, some mes 80 people so the new equipment makes a huge difference.”
The program also looks to work with community centres, volunteers to shi the a tudes towards healthier food.
“Don’t fear the colour Green! It’s about Educa on, if the kids try it, the parents may follow.” says Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Grace La Vella. “

DFNC’s Big Dream Team Reveal
Last Wednesday night, June 7th, Dunolly Football and Netball Club (DFNC) unveiled their special 150th Year poster showcasing the Dream Team of 150 years.
The players on the Dream Team team represent 65 premierships and 42 runners up.
Through Stan McNamee’s research on the upcoming book, The Club discovered 8 extra premierships that were won by Dunolly and many new sta s cs on games and past players that went into considera on for the Dunolly Dream team.
Stan has enjoyed wri ng the book finding many remarkable stories for the book and hopes to have hard copies available for sale in me for the club’s August Celebra on on 12th August.
Andy Gibbs has been working alongside Philip Ashton - coordina ng interviews with past players – football and netball. They are s ll collec ng interviews. Everyone is very proud to be upda ng the Club’s history for future genera ons.
Sincere Thanks to Nat Soulsby – from Soulsby Design who donated her me to design the 150th logo and the artwork for the Dream Team poster.

No ced an ad on the TV the other night giving the business address as Princes Higway
I reckon the firm would be REALLY happy about that typo, as it would have cost a bit to get an ad on.
Niece Ramble and I took a short break in Colac at the weekend. All went well on Friday, cold and windy but the rain held off, so it was not too bad being outside. Went back to the B and B for tea, watched the cricket un l a er 11, then I went to have a shower.
The house had been done up fairly recently and the first bathroom is large.
Had my shower, then went to clean my teeth at the basin. I turned on the mixer, moved the tap to one side and it fell off.
I was right in the line of fire as the high-pressure water flew out and I had an unwanted cold wash and hair wash.
Before I got over the shock and turned the mixer off, the water had hit the big glass shower screen and was deflected upwards.
Just as well everything was led because the floor, ceiling and all fixtures got a wash down.
Niece managed to find a broom and mop bucket and sopped up the water while I stood around in my saturated nightwear dripping all over the passage floor.
No real harm done, except to one's dignity. All this happened at 11.30pm. I have been saying that mayhem and chaos follows me.
We followed the GPS down and back to avoid Ballarat and saw a lot of new (to us) territory, including ge ng quite close to the wind turbines at Waubra. They are huge!
Bealiba Bowls
The bowling of late has been first class and this week was no excep on. One game was decided by the closest of margins, one point.

Central Gold ields Residents and Ratepayers Assoc. Inc.
Over the past few years there have been challenges. Challenges which our amazing community has endured and come out of - strong and moving forward. Our council wards also have endured many promises from state, federal and local representa ves which appear s ll to be on the wish list and keep ge ng promised. None more than the train service to Dunolly. Where is that train? How many more promises do we have to receive before it may be a reality? Issues like the Deledio Oval, roads fixed, overnight free parking, accredita on, trust and belief in the council and system? Which brings us to the State Government's Collabora ve Consulta on which our council has adopted.
So many commi ees with council hand-picked members which start with huge promise, and just about every selected commi ee finishes their task with vastly reduced numbers, and reported loss of confidence in the system. For e.g the C.A.G. (Community Advisory Group) started with over 20 members, reportedly finished with less than 10 community members. The council obviously valued their efforts, a er sta ng council will con nue to engage C.A.G but virtually no contact has been made. Now look at the airport taskforce, numbers depleted and members exi ng, not to men on the Carisbrook levee commi ee. The Heritage Commi ee started without the required number of community
members. Most community par cipants reported to having displeasure and li le confidence in council and councillors. Then we look at community volunteers with the above-men oned concerns and the volunteers not feeling valued, the numbers are diminishing. Could there be a common denominator here?
CGR&RAI have been pondering on the volunteer and community par cipa on numbers declining. We decided to place an album up of the elected councillors’ promises and elec on spiels to remind the councillors and community of what was promised, and also to gauge if our elected councillors are true to their pledges. The album is available in this linkh ps://www.facebook.com/media/set/? vanity=cgoldratepayers&set=a.281463717607017 So many fantas c promises, e.g. the promise to address the CIV difference, and address transparency and trust in the council and councillors, is interes ng to read. There are so many concerns, and the way through this is for councillors and council to meet with the community, listen and work together. We are all in the same boat, let us at least arrive at the des na on united. The cold weather appears to have set in, please keep an eye out for others and assist where you can. Please look a er each other. Thank you.
