My Dunolly Walks

By Em Goldy

Debris in the tar, how bazar

On one of my many walks

Around the town of Dunolly

There is often rubbish lying about.

Caught in dry grass or rubbish traps. Where rainwater flows

When there is a break in a drought.

The rubbish is varied. From paper to glass

Plastic items top the list. If one was keeping such a list

There is one item which is not to be missed.

On a corner in Inkerman Street

Lies the debris in the tar.

Tar softened by heat. exposing a mobile phone

Pulled apart – in pieces it lies.

Trapped, much as amber would be. This is a less valuable find, any archaeologist would see.

However, it is intriguing, How such a phone would be lying there

Should it be recovered?

In both senses of the word

Covered over again with more tar. Or extracted to be examined. Its owner to be found, give it back? Yet I feel It is better left underground In the tar.
