Peter Drinan, General Manager at UNTITLED at 3 Freeman Alley

Q: What are your best tips for exploring NYC like a local?

A: Take the subway and walk as much as you can. It will enable you to walk through various neighborhoods and explore all they have to offer.

Q: What should be on every visitor’s “bucket list” when visiting?

A: I believe every visitor’s “bucket list” should include a visit to the Whitney Museum followed by a stroll on the High Line with a coffee in hand. A breathtaking trip over the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise or a walk around the reservoir in Central Park is perfect on a beautiful day.

Q: What’s an excellent spot to capture a great selfie?

A: Freeman Alley, for sure! Freeman Alley has the best street art the city has to offer.

Q: What is the best suggestion you can give a first-time visitor?

A: Look up as much as possible and take in the smells and sights of NYC. Local New Yorkers walk like they own the city. Walk with confidence and with purpose, and you’ll fit right in.

Q: For a guest looking for a night on the town, what would you recommend?

A: The Lower East Side has the best live music, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Have a Michelin-caliber evening at Estela, enjoy the most cutting-edge natural wine and bites at Skin Contact, or go to the most fun, trendiest NYC club, Outer Heaven, for incredible DJs.

Q: Any suggestions for the best under-the-radar sites or uncommon things to do?

A: Smalls, the intimate basement club in the West Village, is home to some of the best up-and-coming and established musicians. I also recommend riding a Citibike on the West Side Highway. From there, you can see everything from Hudson Yards to the Intrepid to the Freedom Tower and get some great people watching along the way.

Whether you're a resident or just visiting, make sure to explore these floral havens that offer a tranquil escape from the urban rush and a feast for the senses.

In Manhattan, the Conservatory Garden in Central Park is a six-acre formal garden divided into three smaller gardens, each with a distinct style: Italian, French, and English. The magnolias and tulips here are simply stunning during the spring months.

For those who find themselves on the island of Staten, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden offers an array of blooming flowers with its Chinese Scholar’s Garden and the Tuscan Garden, which are particularly beautiful in spring.

Lastly, the Wave Hill Public Garden in the Bronx is a hidden gem with sweeping views of the Hudson River. Spring visitors are treated to the sight of daffodils and flowering trees that provide a serene backdrop for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful afternoon of contemplation.

The New York Botanical Garden is a must-visit during the spring season, with its vast

collection of flora from around the world.

The annual Orchid Show draws visitors from far and wide to witness the stunning display of these exotic flowers. Additionally, throughout the spring months, visitors can enjoy guided tours and special events that present the opportunity to learn more about the diverse plant life within the garden.

In Queens, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is home to a beautiful rose garden, perfect for a romantic stroll or simply taking in the sights and smells of over 5,000 roses in full bloom. The park is also home to the Queens Botanical Garden, which boasts a variety of themed gardens and educational programs.

For a more unconventional spring experience, head to Battery Park, where you can find fields of tulips and daffodils in full bloom. This urban oasis offers stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, making it the perfect spot for a picnic or a leisurely walk.

So whether you're a nature lover or simply looking to escape the concrete jungle for a little while, NYC's gardens and parks offer the perfect respite from city life. Take a break from the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in the beauty of spring blooms—your senses will thank you!

Henry the 8th who gets a swift divorce, wealth, and independence. Soo the sweetest deal of all the wives.

are also the stars of Broadway. We talked with Olivia Donalson who stars as Anna of Cleves in SIX: The Musical, about her favorite places in NYC.

How did you get your start in performing, and in what other shows have you performed?

Donalson- I grew up in a very musical family and always wanted to act/be a Disney channel star, but I ultimately was redirected to band where I spent middle and high school playing oboe very seriously. Theatre was still in my heart though, so I went to Ithaca college for theatre and from there pursued theatre in NYC! My very first job was in shows on the Disney Cruise line and then I went on to do the Aladdin 1st National

tour and Broadway company, and now we are apart of the SIX family!

How would you describe your show to someone completely unfamiliar with Broadway?

Donalson- The six wives of Henry the 8th host a pop concert competition to see who had the WORST time as his wife. It’s 90 minutes of fierce energy, incredible vocals and ultimately a message of sisterhood and empowerment.

What are the best tips you can give a visitor?

Donalson- If you’re slow walking, taking it all in, please stay to the right of the sidewalk. Venture out of midtown at least once, there are so many other cool parts of the city that will be a lot less crowded!

If you're going out for a night on the town in New York City, where would you go?

Donalson- I love live jazz. So I’ll go to Dizzy’s for semi upscale with a view, Mezzrow and Smalls for an energizing yet intimate experience, and Blue Note for incredible artists that are jazz and beyond.

Where are your favorite spots to send family and friends when they visit?

Donalson- I can’t recommend live theatre enough. Broadway shows, off broadway shows, opera, the ballet, in all Burroughs there are incredible theatrical experiences, they can’t go wrong catching a show or 4!

What do you love best about New York City?

Donalson- It’s a true melting pot, bursting with culture, buzzing with fine arts and good food, and as busy as it is, we look out for each other here and I’m thankful.

No matter the weather, there’s a great way to spend a day in the Big Apple.

New York City is a bustling metropolis known for its skyscrapers, broadways, and rapid pace. However, when March brings unpredictable weather patterns, it can be challenging to plan a day out. Fortunately, NYC offers an abundance of indoor activities immune to Mother Nature's whims. Whether raindrops pelting the sidewalks or an unexpected chill in the air, here are some top indoor spots where you can enjoy a day in the Big Apple.

For art enthusiasts, the Metropolitan Museum of Art beckons with its vast collections, ranging from ancient to contemporary works. Those seeking an immersive experience might gravitate toward the Whitney Museum of American Art, specializing in 20th and 21st-century American art. On the other hand, the interactive exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art are sure to inspire visitors of all ages.

Book lovers can while away the hours in the iconic reading rooms of The New York Public Library Alternatively, The Strand Bookstore,

Rainy Days in NYC

with its 18 miles of books, offers literary treasure hunts for rare editions or the next great read. You can spend hours marveling at the collection of reads.

For a spot of drama, why not catch a matinee at one of Broadway’s storied theaters? Take in a matinee and enjoy one of the city’s best productions before dark. Smaller venues like the Public Theater provide a space for groundbreaking off-Broadway productions. Meanwhile, film buffs can enjoy indie and foreign films at intimate venues like the Angelika Film Center.

Those searching for relaxation can partake in the urban oases of wellness centers like AIRE Ancient Baths or Chillhouse for a spa day. Meanwhile, the burgeoning comedy scene offers laughs-a-minute with stand-up performances at spots like Comic Strip Live or The Stand.

Foodies can embark on a culinary adventure at one of the city’s many indoor food markets, such as Eataly or the Chelsea Market. Cooking classes are a more interactive option, with places like Sur La Table offering sessions to refine your culinary skills and enjoy delicious outcomes.

For an active day, the mega entertainment center SPYSCAPE lets you live out your James Bond fantasies and immerse yourself in the world of espionage. Chelsea Piers provides a full range of athletic activities, from rock climbing to bowling.

Afternoon on Roosevelt Island

PLAY

The journey is half the fun—take the Roosevelt Island Tram to enjoy sweeping views of the city. Renwick Ruin, also known as the Smallpox Hospital, offers a glimpse into the island’s medical history. A short walk away, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms State Park serves as a serene tribute to President Roosevelt. The park invites reflection against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. Adding to the island’s charm is Roosevelt Island Lighthouse, a quaint structure standing guard at the island’s northern tip, which has guided ships since the 19th century with its persistent light. Roosevelt Island Viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the cityscape, making it a favorite spot for photographers and sightseers.

EAT

ME Mediterranean Eatery beckons with its authentic dishes that transport diners straight to the heart of the Mediterranean, offering an array of flavors from tangy olives to succulent kabobs. Just a short walk away, Granny Annie’s Bar & Kitchen provides a cozy, welcoming atmosphere where comfort food meets creativity, serving everything from hearty brunches to tantalizing dinner specials. For those seeking a unique dining experience, Anything At All stands out with its eclectic menu and modern ambiance, promising a culinary adventure with each visit.

DRINK

Positioned atop the Graduate Hotel, the Panorama Room offers one of Roosevelt Island’s most stunning dining and cocktail experiences. With its 360-degree views, guests are treated to unparalleled New York City skyline vistas, including iconic sights such as the Queensboro Bridge and the East River’s winding path. The venue’s chic interior and sophisticated ambiance make it a perfect spot for both relaxed afternoons and vibrant evenings. The Panorama Room’s menu, featuring innovative cocktails and exquisite bites, complements the breathtaking views, ensuring a memorable experience that encapsulates the unique spirit of Roosevelt Island.
