In conjunction with the 1st Agroecology Conference, held 28-30 January 2019 in Cape Town, we present the first screening in southern Africa of the film DOWN to EARTH. THE FILM Down to Earth is a thought-provoking cinematic experience of the ancient, earthly wisdom, with music composed by Oscar-winner Stephen Warbeck.

Leaving the rat race behind, a family of five embarks on the journey of a lifetime.

With only one camera and backpack each, they travel to the ends of the earth searching for a new perspective on life. During five years on six continents they seek out tribal sages never filmed or interviewed before.

From the heart of the Amazon, to the jungles of India, from the Australian outback to the Kalahari Dessert, from the Andes to the banks of Lake Superior, we meet one-toone with some of these humble individuals who are still connected to the Earth, the Elements and to the Other Worlds. They have retained a natural balance and live in harmony with All That Is. The Silo Hotel The Silo Hotel sets a new standard for luxury Cape Town hotel accommodation. A magical hotel towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa‘s Mother City.

The exterior of the building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building‘s original structure is the addition of the ingenious glass windows inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors. These multi-faceted windows bulge outward as if gently inflated.

By night, this transforms the building into a glowing beacon in the Table Bay harbour.

The Silo Hotel has 28 rooms, including a spectacular one bedroom penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden.

Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture.

Chef Julia Hattingh‘s 18-seat table d‘hôte restaurant in Observatory serves a 5-course chef‘s choice dinner and is, in her own words, her ―daydream come true‖. Leinster Hall is now home to The Stack – private members club and public brasserie. The illustrious 160-year old lady has been given a second youth, a coiffe and polish that sees her Georgian structure and Victorian fretwork shining.

Pakamisa Private Lodge In August 1996 Isabella Stepski fell in love with the unspoilt Pakamisa Mountain in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. By September the land was bought and then the hard work began!

In the first year they established the infrastructure with 52kms of dirt roads, and secured the 2,500 hectare park with 24kms of fencing. Pakamisa Private Game Reserve, which was once a cattle farm, is now pristine Savannah and Bushveld.

In December 1997 the superior stables were completed and Isabella‘s precious Arabian stud horses, imported from Spain, were in residence.

Perched on the edge of a magnificent mountain range, the ‗Spanish Ranch meets African Bush‘ styled lodge took four years to construct. Local stone and materials were hauled up the perilous dirt road, and finally in January 2001 the elegant lodge, reflecting Isabella‘s warm personality, welcomed its first guests.

Isabella has stocked the reserve with indigenous animals, steering clear of predators and dangerous beasts such as buffalo, to allow guests, horses and animals to live in safety and harmony.
