The Arts

Movement and the human experience. Like so many aspects of Webb, the dance company here is unique. It invites students to discover dance as practice and performance. The Winter Dance program is a culminating highlight, co-choreographed by our instructor and students—offering a dynamic, student-driven community to take risks and push boundaries of self-expression.

The arts at Webb immerses students in global and historical creative work while challenging them to develop bold, original ideas of their own. Guided by accomplished and practicing contemporary artists and supported by state-of-the-art facilities, Webb students explore theater, dance, visual arts, music, digital media, and film. With the cultural energy of Los Angeles as our backdrop, students learn to think creatively and make inventively both in and beyond the studio, theater, and classroom.

“ Fortune Favors the Bold” There is an ancient idea translated into perfect Latin by the Roman poet and thinker Virgil in the Aeneid, audentes fortuna iuvat, or “fortune favors the bold.” Virgil’s lesson, however, is to be bold but not reckless, to pursue your goals with good and measured purpose.

One can find this wisdom furrowed deep in the life and mind of Webb’s founding father, Thompson Webb. He was a bold school maker, but his boldness was also steady, essential to propelling this great school for more than a century.

Thompson’s example continues to inspire generations of students, educators, and school leaders.

What we know for sure is that Webb’s second century will be one filled with new challenges and new opportunities.

What we know for sure is that the sentinel questions we will be called to answer will be both age-old and startlingly new.

What does personalized learning look like when curiosity and discovery guide the curriculum?

How can interdisciplinary study, emerging technologies, and a more open curriculum best support individual pursuits without sacrificing shared knowledge?

How can schools design learning that connects directly to the world, through student-centered projects, partnerships, and community engagement?

Should internships and mentorships that connect the relevance of academic skills to the many professions play a larger role in our education?

How can schools prepare students not to just use AI and other emerging technology, but to question, shape, and design it for the common good?

How should schools teach students to use and develop human-centered technology tools to benefit humanity?

These are indeed exciting, thrilling, and on occasion, breathless times to be an educator, a student, or a family working to guide and inspire young people toward a better future. We are in this work together. We are grateful to count you as vital partners.

A Year in the Life of the AI Project@Webb

Innovation at Webb is embedded in our history and alive in our culture. Nowhere is this more evident than in the AI Project@Webb, an exciting initiative positioning the school as a national leader in the creative and age-defining possibilities of human-centered AI and other emerging technologies.

The AI Project@Webb encompasses a wide range of programs and projects—designing and building a secure, school-based AI platform; developing new courses in technology and innovation; establishing ethical use AI guidelines for educators and students; and integrating responsible AI practice across disciplines and programs, from golf to the humanities. Together, these initiatives provide a platform for Webb students and faculty to explore and discover technologies that emphasize curiosity, integrity, and community.

Developing WebbGPT

A cornerstone achievement of the past year was the further growth and development of WebbGPT, a self-contained AI system that provides students, faculty, and staff with secure access to the latest generative AI tools. WebbGPT operates entirely within Webb’s systems, ensuring that data and queries remain private while allowing users to engage safely with the most advanced models.

Following a comprehensive technology audit in fall 2024, Webb began to strengthen its infrastructure to support the responsible use of AI across campus.

The updated version of WebbGPT now includes image generation and an agent builder feature, enabling users to design and customize AI assistants tailored to their academic, athletic, or program needs.

is using the platform to plan practices specific to individuals, surfacing drills in a very targeted way, and helping him to simplify language around the golf swing.

“The golf swing is complicated and hard to talk about because, as golf coaches are fond of saying, ‘feel ain’t real,’” said Hebert. “What a player feels they are doing with their body does not necessarily correspond to what they are actually doing. WebbGPT has helped me to deepen my library of ‘feels’ (i.e., ways I can describe what a particular move might feel like for a particular player) and for taking very complicated biomechanics and demystifying its jargon. Who wants to talk about the ulnar deviation of the wrist?!?!!?!

Instead, I can say, ‘Imagine you’re hitting a nail with a hammer.’”

Teaching Technology and Ethics In the classroom, Webb continues to explore the intersection of technology, ethics, and the humanities. A Technology & Innovation course invites students to experiment with design thinking, 3D modeling, and computational tools.

Webb’s Tech & Innovation seminar is cotaught by Mark Dzula, Ph.D. and Luke Raus ’20. “The aim of the course is to inspire and support burgeoning innovators as they ask generative questions and collaborate in a lab environment. Our projects and prompts

get them to exercise computational and critical thinking in a student-centered project-based course,” Dzula said. “We also interface with Professor Zach Dodds to make sure our innovators are prepared for our course with Harvey Mudd College, as well as potentially larger, more independent projects in Tech & Innovation Seminar II.”

Webb is developing a new interdisciplinary elective, Ethics and Technology, designed to help students examine the cultural, moral, and societal implications of AI.

During one unit, students enrolled in the course joined the robotics team on a visit to JPL laboratories and developed independent projects around major tools in the Innovation Wing: the 3D printers, the laser cutter/engraver, the robotic arm, and the VR headsets. “While AI wasn’t the sole focus of the unit, we worked with innovators to strategize ethical use of the tool to extend their thinking and to dive deeper with the tools. Notable progress included students programming the robotic arm to stack Jenga blocks, including exploration of the utility of fiducial markers (like QR codes),” Dzula said.

In another unit, students will build 3D scanning devices. They will study the relationship between analog and digital data streams, using AI as a way to deepen their understanding of how the sensors work and what their output means. “I am increasingly seeing innovators use AI as a tool on the side to extend their thinking, interrogate obstacles, and develop their understanding. In this way, I am seeing them exercise computational thinking while they also critically evaluate the results that AI delivers,” Dzula said.

“Personally, I like this application of AI on

the side, that it amplifies questions as students grapple with challenging, significant problems. I see the tool opening doorways and pathways to new understanding, giving the students a sense of efficacy as they build their identities as innovators.”

Advanced Studies Literature & the Machine

Meanwhile, the Advanced Studies Literature & the Machine course, also taught by Hebert, challenges students to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping authorship, creativity, and the human experience. The course explores generative AI’s potential impact on art, literature, and human creativity, allowing students to place contemporary debates in a context that goes all the way back to Prometheus and Plato. Students engage in vibrant class discussions about key works of science fiction—from classic 20th century writers like Isaac Asimov to contemporary comic books—that speculate about the promises and pitfalls of AI. Students will also take a hands-on, experimental approach to these emerging technologies, working in collaboration with AI applications to test the limits of AI’s ability to augment human expression.

“This year, as I rework the course for its second voyage, I’m using generative AI to redesign the whole thing as a massive roleplaying game. Think: Dungeons and Dragons. Students create alter egos and go on a series of quests together that force them to think through the material for the course. The game was co-developed by me and my good friend Claude (aka WebbGPT). I’m also using Codex, OpenAI’s coding GPT, to develop a Webb portal for this where students can create their character sheets and keep track of what quests they’ve completed. This is all very much a work in progress,” said Hebert.

“With respect to what students do in the class, we talk quite a bit about the ethical use of AI. Their final project last semester was to use generative AI to interrogate

Partnership and Purpose

generative AI. One student, for example, made a computer game that challenged players to identify writing done by famous authors (e.g., Ernest Hemingway and Virginia Woolf) versus AI impersonations of those writers,” Hebert said. “He then did an informal test with the class and with a group of teachers. (I’m proud to say that Humanities teachers outperformed students on this test!) I had another student do a breakdown of AI-generated art, specifically looking at the anatomy of different creatures. For example, as a sketch artist, she drew a wolf, starting with the skeleton and then fleshing it out. Then, she had different image generators do the same task. Lastly, she did an analysis of the accuracy of those image generators and the implications of their failures (because they weren’t very good at this, as it turned out).”

Building on these foundations, Webb is also developing a new interdisciplinary elective, Ethics and Technology, designed to help students examine the cultural, moral, and societal implications of AI. This work is supported by the creation of formal AI and Ethics Guidelines for the Webb community—establishing a shared framework for transparency, academic integrity, and thoughtful engagement with new technologies.

“Our goal is to balance innovation with Webb’s core values—critical thinking, creativity, and community,” said Head of School Theresa Smith. “AI tools are all around us, and we want students to safely explore and innovate with them while learning to discern their appropriate and ethical use.”

The AI Project@Webb also reflects the school’s belief that meaningful innovation happens through collaboration. This year, Webb formalized a new partnership with the USC Center for Artificial Intelligence in Society (CAIS), whose mission is to use AI for social good, which aligns closely with Webb’s own. In May, CAIS Co-Director Professor Phebe Vayanos visited the Webb campus to share her groundbreaking research on applying AI to address social challenges, offering students and faculty a model for how technology can serve humanity responsibly.

“Professor Vayanos and other USC professors are using AI to improve the Los Angeles community, which is a powerful reminder to us all that AI tools aren’t just the domain of tech businesses but tools that scientists, scholars and civic leaders can utilize to address the big global challenges of our time. Just like our work with Professor Zach Dodds P ’17, ’19 at Harvey Mudd College, these partnerships enable Webb students to collaborate with leaders in the field,” said Head of School Theresa Smith, Ph.D.

Looking Ahead

The AI Project@Webb continues to grow.

A new WebbGPT Agent Design Challenge now invites students, faculty, and staff to develop their own agents and share findings on optimal use, customization, and ethical safeguards. Through these initiatives, and upgraded tech infrastructure, Webb students are not only learning how to use AI but how to lead with it.

In every aspect of this work, Webb remains guided by its mission: to prepare students to think deeply, act with honor, lead with distinction, and serve with a generous spirit. The AI Project@Webb exemplifies this vision, ensuring that Webb graduates step confidently into the future, equipped not only with technological fluency, but with the wisdom to use it well.

A Set of Guiding Principles for AI at Webb AI is an important technological tool to be explored, not banned.

Utilizing the latest tools for researching, learning, thinking and creating— including AI—is essential as part of a Webb education.

Transparency of AI use is critical for all users, including adults and students.

The ethical use and development of AI is a relevant and vital topic for an honor-based community.

AI has the possibility to streamline school operations, but it should never be used as a substitute for humancentered communications or relationships.

Private student or employee data may not be entered into AI programs that are not official Webb systems.

The Selective College Admission Journey Evolves

A Conversation with Dean of College Guidance Hector Martinez

For nearly three decades, Hector Martinez has been a force behind one of Webb’s most defining programs—guiding students along their path to college and beyond. Now in his 29th year at Webb and approaching his 40th year in college admission work, Martinez has had his hand in shaping the futures of thousands of students. As one alum recently calculated for him, of Webb’s roughly 5,000 living alumni, half of the school’s graduates have crossed the threshold of his office on their journey to college. “The first thing I thought was, I’m old! Then, I thought, she graduated from MIT, so the math is probably right,” Martinez said.

The college guidance program at Webb is built not on numbers but on relationships.

Each conversation, application essay, and letter of recommendation marks a milestone in a student’s life. “This office is about taking student aspirations, maybe long-held dreams, and making them real,” Martinez said. “These kids work incredibly hard. They create these remarkable lives for themselves through their Webb experience.

They have ambitious hopes for their future, and we get to be part of their success.”

It’s no surprise to anyone in our community that Webb’s college guidance program stands out for its deeply personal, student-centered approach. While the world of college admissions grows more data-driven and competitive, Martinez and his team remain committed to what he calls the “high-touch, person-to-person” side of the process. “We get to see the moment it happens for students,” he said.

“It’s the best feeling.”

That sense of purpose and commitment to excellence resonates across Webb’s broader mission. Webb’s innovative and rigorous academic and residential experiences are designed to prepare students to lead in a rapidly changing world. With more than 130 courses, including 46 Advanced Studies offerings, leadership development, arts programs,

athletics, and research opportunities, Webb’s full program empowers students to discover who they are. It prepares them for where they’re headed next.

Martinez believes it’s crucial to impress on Webb students that this moment—the college decision—is one of life’s defining experiences. “I think there are only about five or six major things that happen to you in your life,” he tells them. “This is one of the first. Be serious and choose wisely, because it can have an incredible impact on what comes next.”

Here are excerpts from a short conversation we had about Webb’s college guidance program, and the tightly honed process that has led to decades of selective college admission success for Webb graduates.

Q: Can you describe the program and mix of one-on-one advising, workshops, retreats, and college fairs?

Martinez: The process really begins the moment a student steps on campus. It’s embedded in Webb’s DNA. With freshmen and sophomores, we hold “class talks” twice a year, helping them see what’s ahead and how to make the most of their Webb experience. For juniors, we start regular one-on-one meetings in January to shape their college lists, support college visits, and help them prepare for testing and the application process to come. Seniors, of course, are deep in it, finalizing lists, writing essays, and deciding on early or regular options.

Along the way, there are class meetings, field trips, retreats, workshops, college fairs, and guest speakers. More than 100 colleges visit Webb each year, more visitors than we have seniors, and we host a major case studies program every spring with about 50 leading institutions. We also sponsor college tours across California and the East Coast. The idea is to surround our students with touchpoints, relationships, and real information so that by senior year, they are confident, well-prepared, and focused on fit and match.

Q: Are Webb students well prepared for college success? How do you know?

Martinez, Flores, Abrams-Fuller

Q: How is the Office of College Guidance staffed?

Martinez: We have three full-time professionals in our office. Two of us, Associate Dean Remy Abrams Fuller and I, work directly with juniors and seniors and lead the one-on-one counseling program.

Adriana Flores, our senior college guidance associate, manages the office. She’s the first person families and college reps meet, the one who makes sure every transcript, recommendation, and application is processed and sent on time. She also helps with financial aid questions, college visits, and our busy event calendar. Between the three of us, we get to know every student well. We’re constantly in touch with colleges and stay current through professional development, so we’re bringing the best information and advice possible to our students and families.

Q: How does Webb’s academic and boarding program benefit students?

Martinez: Webb is an intense place, in the best possible way. Students here live and learn in a 24/7 community, surrounded by peers and teachers who care deeply about them. This intensity builds confidence, maturity, and a strong sense of self.

Boarding school students learn how to manage their time, advocate for themselves, and live with others. Those are huge advantages when they get to college.

Many of them later tell me it was hard to find another place in college and beyond

Martinez: Absolutely. Colleges tell us all the time how well Webb students do once they’re on campus. Admissions offices track student performance, and our record is consistently strong. They know our students come from a rigorous academic environment, with a culture that values learning, independence, and integrity.

And we hear it from our alumni. They come back and say, “Mr. Martinez, that was the best thing that ever happened to me,” or, sometimes, “I didn’t realize how special Webb was until I left.” The boarding experience, the small classes, the connection to teachers, these things make an enormous difference. There’s nothing more confident than a boarding school graduate at college.

Q: What role do faculty play in the admission process?

Martinez: Our teachers are vital. First, they are the lifeblood of the Webb experience. They make it happen and make it so special. Also, colleges often tell me that Webb recommendation letters stand out. They’re thoughtful, personal, and beautifully written. In an era when test scores are sometimes optional, a teacher’s insight can be one of the most powerful parts of an application.

Our faculty take that responsibility seriously. They know our students well, they care deeply, and they take the time to write about them with real detail. This helps colleges see the human being behind the transcript. It’s one of the reasons Webb’s reputation in selective college admissions is so strong.

Q: What trends in college admissions are you witnessing?

Martinez: So much has changed since COVID. The process is faster, more digital, more complex. But we’ve got a handle

on things. We have a program, process, and timeline that works. Unfortunately, because of the immense pressure they feel, families might try and start the college process too early, even in middle school, and I always tell them that doesn’t help. It only adds stress. What matters is doing it right and at the right time.

Of course, we also remind families that college preparation and admission is only one part of the Webb experience. If you spend your whole time here just thinking about where you’re going next, you’ll miss out on the extraordinary education and community right in front of you.

Q: What is the role of emerging technology, AI, and the like, in the admission process?

Martinez: Wow. Good question.

Technology is changing everything, from how students apply to how colleges review applications. Some universities are already experimenting with AI to help manage the massive volume of applications they receive. That could mean initial sorting or pre-reading done by algorithms before human eyes see the files. For example, some universities receive more than 100,000 applications and only have an admission staff of 60 professionals or less—making reading all these applications impossible. So, AI technology may be useful in this situation.

For Webb students, that might be a double-edged sword. Our students are strong, so that they might rise quickly in those systems, but there’s always the worry that a special story or unique talent gets lost in the data. That’s why relationships and advocacy still matter so much.

On our end, we use technology every day. It allows us to work efficiently and stay connected, but nothing replaces knowing our students personally. I can manage applications from my phone, but I still need to know each student’s

hopes and aspirations. College admissions professionals feel the same way. They still want to admit real people, not just strong profiles on a screen.

Q: What is unlikely to change about the selective college admission process?

Martinez: The human part. As advanced as emerging technology becomes, colleges are still admitting people, students who will live, learn, and contribute to their communities. This will never change.

At Webb, we believe in the value of knowing our students well and advocating for them. This is what makes the work so special. We get to help students onto their next adventure. After nearly three decades, I can say, that never gets old.

A New Era for Webb Athletics Completion of Phase 1 Les Perry Gymnasium Renewal Project

Webb marked a significant turning point this year with the completion of Phase 1 of the Les Perry Gym renovation. Through the generosity of alumni, families, and friends, this transformative campus project signals the school’s commitment to excellence in athletics, supporting community health and wellness, and celebrating Les Perry, Webb’s renowned athletics director and beloved coach from 1946 to 1976.

Today, the Perry Gym is home to Webb’s 40 teams in 15 different sports. It plays a central role on campus as a health, fitness, and recreation space for our boarding program and a place for all-school community programming.

With these Phase 1 improvements finished, Webb students-athletes now enjoy facilities that match their commitment to sports and fitness. Phase 1 boasts a menu of real game-changers: a new gymnasium floor precisely engineered and striped for basketball, volleyball, and badminton; a new state-of-the-art digital scoreboard system; new and more energy-efficient lighting; and fresh interior finishes.

“The digital scoreboard is super cool and makes our games feel more intense, like we’re at a professional sporting event.

Phase 1 also provides improved accessibility for all guests, a new main entrance and lobby, and a suite of expanded, air-conditioned restrooms.

Along with comprehensive fire-safety upgrades, accessible parking, and

new code-compliant entrances, these upgrades make the building safer, more accessible, and better positioned for future expansion.

Perhaps the biggest impact on the Webb community is the installation of a new bleachers system allowing the entire student body and faculty to gather for school programs and events as well as larger crowds at sporting events to cheer on our Gauls!

“The completion of Phase 1 represents an investment in our students and the vitality of our athletics program,” said Head of School Theresa Smith. “It reflects our belief that excellence at Webb extends to athletics, fitness, and the overall health of our community.”

Looking Ahead to Phase 2 of the Les Perry Gymnasium Renewal Project Now in the planning stages, Phase 2 will include a new comprehensive fitness and training center serving both studentathletes and the broader Webb community.

The modernized fitness center—featuring new flooring and ceiling treatments—will offer state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, along with a dedicated space for yoga and stretching. Roll-up garage doors will connect the renovated interior to a new outdoor workout area, expanding the usable space and giving students and coaches greater flexibility for training and wellness activities. An integrated audiovisual system will further enhance instruction and support a wide range of

fitness and wellness initiatives.

A new Sports Medicine Center will significantly expand Webb’s training and recovery resources and relocate them to a more advantageous location. The facility will include multiple trainer tables for injury prevention and treatment, as well as hydrotherapy tubs to support muscle recovery.

Additional offices incorporated into the fitness center will provide dedicated space for coaches and athletics staff—allowing for more consistent supervision and, ultimately, extended hours of access for students.

With further philanthropic support, Phase 2 will also make possible full air conditioning for the gymnasium and fitness areas, as well as the conversion of Webb’s outdoor courts into two competitiongrade sport courts, enhancing year-round athletic opportunities.

The Les Perry Gym Renewal Project stands as a powerful symbol of Webb’s enduring dedication to its mission—investing in student wellness, leadership, and excellence as we look to the century ahead.

Fueling Webb’s Margin of Excellence With more than 1,000 donors contributing over $1.8 million to The Webb Fund in 2024–25, community support for the school’s most urgent priorities remained strong.

& Innovation Seminar, developed in partnership with Harvey Mudd College’s Zach Dodds, which challenges students to consider not just what code does, but why it matters.

The Webb Fund also strengthens departmental budgets, ensuring that teachers and students have the materials, equipment, and technology needed to bring ideas to life—from science labs and art studios to the stage and classroom.

One Webb, Worldwide On March 19, screens lit up from Los Angeles to Beijing, Melbourne to London, as alumni, parents, and friends united for our eighth annual Webb Giving Day. Messages flew, WeChat buzzed, and our global community rallied across continents in a shared celebration of spirit and generosity, all in support of Webb.

Our Home The Webb Community means so much to me—it is my work, but it is also my home, where my husband and I choose to raise our family. What a privilege it is to raise our daughters in a community that values honor, trust, and unbounded thinking.

We are forever grateful!

For over 24 hours, alongside our traditional Webb Day/Night activities, the global Webb community showed up in a big way. On campus, students engaged in spirited competitions and class challenges, while online, that same energy came alive as messages, photos, and gifts poured in from around the world, reminding us why this place means so much to so many.

The result? A memorable day with $309,893 raised from 430 donors across four continents, reflecting the enduring strength of our worldwide community, and a whole lot of Webb pride.

The energy soared as challenge matches unlocked throughout the day, igniting spirited yet friendly class competition and inspiring donors to jump in and push us over the finish line. Every gift sparked momentum. Every note sparked joy. Every voice made a difference.

The Les and Barbara Perry Awards For over 100 years, The Webb Schools have remained steadfast to the standards of distinguished academic and athletic achievement complemented by a dedication to principles of unwavering ethical behavior and personal responsibility. These are the ideals upon which the school was founded—ideals which have been embodied by Les and Barbara Perry.

From 1946 to 1976, Les and Barbara Perry dedicated their lives to Webb students. Among his many roles at Webb, Les served as athletic director, head football coach, head basketball coach, head baseball coach, advisor to the Block W Club, math teacher and assistant headmaster under both Steve Longley and Fred Hooper. Barbara was a committed dorm parent, providing the boys with much needed support.

Each year, department heads are encouraged to nominate faculty members who are deserving of a Perry Award. These awards, established in 1995 by generous donors, honor the Perrys and serve as a tangible reward for a job well done.

Will Allan

The four Cs (Color, Clarity, Carat, and Cut) are traditionally used to evaluate the quality of a diamond. For this Perry recipient, we can redefine these four Cs to celebrate an exceptional member of our community to: Calm, Cool, Collected, and Committed. These qualities perfectly encapsulate Mr. Will Allan’s remarkable twenty-five-year tenure at Webb.

Like a masterfully cut diamond that reveals its brilliance through multiple facets, Mr.Allan has demonstrated his versatility and dedication through numerous roles within our community. As a teacher, he is patient, approachable, and committed to supporting his students. As a coach, he has fostered both athletic excellence and character development throughout various sports and seasons. In

his roles as dorm head and lead dorm head, he has created a nurturing residential environment where students truly feel at home. As an advisor, he has guided countless students through their academic journeys, offering both support and challenge when needed. And of course, his institutional knowledge has been crucial to his service on various (and numerous) committees, helping to guide conversations around Webb’s continued evolution insightfully and thoughtfully.

Similar to the strength and stability of diamonds, Mr. Allan’s strength lies in his unwavering consistency and reliability. He approaches each day with the same steady demeanor and commitment to excellence that has characterized his entire career at Webb. Whether in the classroom, on the playing field, or in the dormitory, his presence has been a cornerstone of our community.

Nika Haleftiras

From transforming campus courtyards into living laboratories to guiding students through local watershed studies (or cemeteries) to taking 60 students on a boat to whale watch, Ms. Nika Haleftiras’s impact in the classroom at Webb has been transformative. Her innovative approach to science education has elevated our curriculum, particularly through her recent redesign of the AP Environmental Science into our new Advanced Studies Environmental Solutions course. By

incorporating hands-on learning experiences and realworld applications, she has created a more engaging and mission-aligned course that inspires students to think critically about environmental challenges and their role as responsible citizens of the Earth.

Beyond academics, Ms. Haleftiras has served as a supportive, approachable, and intentional advisor for our ninth-grade students helping to guide them through their first year at Webb. Additionally, her contributions to our varsity basketball program are significant – through cultivating a team culture centered and rooted in growth, teamwork, and character development yielding success in addition to developing well- rounded student-athletes.

And yet, perhaps most notably, Ms. Haleftiras has quickly become legendary for her role as the Alamo dorm head.

Her dorm meetings have evolved into a beloved weekly tradition, creating informal mentoring opportunities and strengthening campus connections through her mutual love of food with her residents. These gatherings exemplify her ability to foster meaningful relationships and create inclusive spaces. Ms. Haleftiras has shown remarkable leadership as a residential faculty member, as she has cultivated an incredible dorm environment that her Alamo residents truly describe as their “home away from home.”

Ms. Haleftiras embodies the values of educational excellence, mentorship, and community engagement that define our institution. Her contributions have enriched our campus immeasurably.

Leah Moore

Leah Moore joined our century-old community last year; few could have predicted how profoundly she would reshape it in such a short amount of time. From the classroom to the basketball court, from student living spaces to vital affinity group work, her impact has been both immediate and transformative. In just over one short year, Ms. Moore has made a significant impact in pretty much every single aspect of Webb that she’s involved in. In the classroom, Ms. Moore fosters a culture of deep intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. In particular, Ms. Moore has a keen ability to guide complex and thoughtful class discussions while creating an environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed and explored and celebrated.

Additionally, beyond her teaching excellence, Ms. Moore is a dedicated basketball and track coach, a committed and supportive advisor, and creates a homelike residential environment for our students as a residential faculty member.

What is even more impressive, however, is that this is just all the visible work that Ms. Moore does on a dayto-day basis. Yet, some of the most impactful work that Ms. Moore does is with our black affinity group at Webb to cultivate a space and community centered around ensuring that our students feel safe, seen, and heard.

Much of this work, by nature of affinity work, is not quite as public and/or visible, but we hope that this is a moment where we can acknowledge and celebrate the incredibly intentional work that Ms. Moore has done to support our community in just over one year here at Webb. Much of the same way that Les and Barbara Perry centered students in their daily work at Webb, Ms. Moore does the same.

Eric Vos

In a campus community as intricate and diverse as Webb, there are countless unsung heroes who make tremendous impacts in less visible ways. These individuals form the backbone of our institution, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that they are supporting the health and wellbeing of our community. Among these remarkable individuals, one name stands out: Eric Vos. Throughout his tenure at Webb, Mr. Eric Vos has exemplified the qualities of Les and Barbara Perry. As a school counselor, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student well-being, serving as a dependable, caring, and empathetic presence in the lives of countless students. His one-on-one work with students is nothing short of transformative, providing crucial support and guidance during their academic journeys and personal growth.

Additionally, Mr. Vos’s contributions extend far beyond his role as a counselor. As the faculty advisor to our Peer Advisor program, he empowers students to support one another, fostering a culture of mutual aid and understanding. His leadership as our varsity tennis coach instills valuable life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Furthermore, his role teaching freshman seminar creates a space for our 9th grade students to explore relevant topics that are directly related to their growth and development as healthy adolescents.

What truly sets Mr. Vos apart is his humble nature. He is not one to seek recognition or praise for his efforts, preferring instead to focus on the impact of his work. This selflessness only amplifies the profound influence he has on our community, making him such a well-deserving recipient of this year’s Perry Award.

In just two years at Webb, Cory Warren has made a remarkable impact on the community. As a humanities teacher, advisor, LGBTQ+ affinity group advisor and advocate, Breakfast magazine advisor, and coach, Mr. Warren consistently puts students at the center of his work. He is grounded, genuine, and deeply authentic in both his actions and the way he lives his values.

In the classroom, Warren brings a wealth of knowledge about literature and a passion for teaching writing and close textual analysis. But beyond content, he brings joy and a deep understanding of what makes learning meaningful. He’s committed to his own growth, recently becoming a certified naturalist through the state of California—a testament to his curiosity and drive to keep learning.

Warren’s presence fosters a true sense of belonging. “He embodies radical empathy.”

He creates inclusive, thoughtful spaces where students and colleagues alike feel seen and supported. He is an advisor to the Honor Council for 2025-2026.

The Laurence McMillin Excellence in Teaching Award was established and endowed by David Loo ’79.

JAMES T. DEMETRIADES ’80 ENDOWED PRIZE FOR UNBOUNDED THINKING Stephen Hebert, Humanities Stephen Hebert, co-leader of the Humanities Department, the Boys’ League Golf Coach of the Year, a rockstar organizer and a senior advisor, is always looking to support and elevate those around him. He’s dedicated to innovative pedagogy and eager to make space for all educators to reflect and grow. His creativity, eye for living a great life and genuine care make a meaningful impact on his students and colleagues alike.

His exceptional attention to detail is always evident. One student shared that

his class is a space where you learn about history, laugh and learn about life. His golfers speak to how purposeful every practice feels, with sessions designed to build both skill and confidence and he is always a partner with athletes to troubleshoot challenges intentionally. His teams, classes, department, advisory—even his Monday night labs in the library!—are all spaces grounded in respect and shaped by his authentic interest in each person’s voice. Hebert is passionate, supportive, committed to growth and learning.

The James T. Demetriades ’80 Endowed Prize in Unbounded Thinking was established and endowed by James T. Demetriades ’80.

JEAN E. MILLER EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD Dr. Elizabeth Cantwell, Humanities Elizabeth Cantwell is a deeply valued member of the Webb community and a dedicated leader of the Humanities Department. She is an exceptional educator and an advocate for curiosity, creativity, and student voice; creating spaces where all feel seen and empowered.

Over the past ten years, Cantwell has made challenging ideas and texts accessible, relevant, and fun—especially when they’re weird. Her signature class, Gothic Literature, is one of the most talked-about courses on campus, pushing students to explore horror through a thoughtful academic lens.

Her students say they want to do the homework in her class because she helps them understand why it matters. Beyond the classroom, she has led the debate team, contributed to the literary magazine, and been a consistent presence in the dorms, where students appreciate her approachability and genuine interest in their lives. Her intelligence, evident in all that she does, is carried with humility and care.

She inspires students to rise to her high expectations with respect and admiration.

THOMPSON AND VIVIAN WEBB AWARD Dr. Mairin Balisi, Science/Alf Museum Mairin Balisi is an extraordinary educator whose passion and intellect are felt across the Webb community. In the classroom, in the field, or in conversation with a curious student, she brings her distinct blend of scholarly rigor and genuine warmth. Rather than providing easy answers, Balisi invites students to draw on their own knowledge and curiosity, helping them arrive at complex understandings with confidence.

In Advanced Studies Paleontology Research and in the afternoon research program, Balisi’s brings paleontology to life.

“Snackumentary Fridays,” fully outfitted with her freshly baked lemon bars or carrot cake frosted to resemble fluorescent moss, is a seemingly small gesture that speaks volumes about how much she values student engagement.

Flexible and deeply dedicated, Balisi creates a learning environment where students are inspired. As one of her students said, “She’s just a great person to be around.” She is a role model, a mentor, and a source of inspiration for the entire community.

The Thompson and Vivian Webb Award was endowed by Edmund L. Piper ’43.

JOHN AND MADELINE FRAMPTON STAFF CELEBRATION AWARD Annalise Reynosa, Science Department Even if she isn’t quite as visible as the rest of the department, Annalise Reynosa’s work impacts every single student at Webb each and every year. As the lab technician, she is the backbone of the science department, ensuring labs run seamlessly while instilling proper safety protocols and accountability in our students. Beyond regularly setting up and organizing lab spaces, Reynosa has also taken on the important role of caretaker for all of our lovely science department pets, as well. Her commitment to Webb’s community extends far beyond the science labs, as she is often seen attending weekend

events to cheer on her students to help ensure that faculty and students feel seen and appreciated.

Additionally, as a committed volleyball coach, she inspires athletes to embrace diligence, resilience, and perseverance.

Her colleagues value her as both a reliable professional resource and a compassionate presence in the community.

JOANN ROBINSON STAFF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD Teresa Acosta, Dining Services This year, Teresa Acosta was recognized for her remarkable 34 years of service to Webb. Teresa has dedicated much of her life to supporting the students and the entire Webb community. She is a hardworking, committed employee who consistently goes above and beyond in her role. Throughout her time at Webb, Acosta has contributed in many different capacities within the dining hall, making her an invaluable member of the team. Her initiative to clean, organize, and assist wherever needed exemplifies her dedication to the success of her colleagues and the school.

Beyond her regular responsibilities, Acosta is a reliable source of support during the summer months, often volunteering to take on extra hours to help other departments.

This further demonstrates her commitment to Webb and its community. Acosta takes great pride in her work, and the Webb community is incredibly fortunate to have her. We are proud to present her with this well-deserved recognition!

Endowed Funds

As funds held in perpetuity, endowments generate revenue for scholarships, educational programs, athletics, faculty enrichment, and many other areas critical to the success of the schools and museum. A generous endowment gives an institution confidence that it can remain true to its mission regardless of a challenging economy. The Board of Trustees currently uses a 4.0% annual payout rate for Webb and a 5.0% payout rate for the Alf Museum. Webb’s endowed funds are managed by Goldman Sachs & Co., a global leader in investment research, strategy, and management. We are forever grateful to the individuals, families, and organizations listed below whose generosity secures the future of The Webb Schools and the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology.

Adams Family Math Fund Established in 1990 to furnish and endow the mathematics laboratory, this fund was made possible by generous gifts from the families of Peter Adams ’35 and Morgan Adams, Jr. Ahmanson Teaching Endowment Created with grants from The Ahmanson Foundation in 1990 and 1996 to provide resources for faculty support.

The Alamo Fund Established in 2017 by Dodd Fischer ’61, this endowed maintenance fund provides for upkeep and renewal of The Alamo, a home away from home for many Webb students. The fund was created to honor four of Dodd’s lifelong friends and classmates: Andrew Branscome ’61, a southern gentleman who championed the rights of man; twin brothers Don ’61 and John Girard ’61, who had a combined 94 years of service as medical doctors; and Samuel Zemurray III ’61, another southern gentleman and cattle expert who helped others less fortunate receive independent educations.

Raymond M. Alf Inspirational and Unbounded Teaching Chair in Science Funded by Robert A. Hefner III ’53 in 1998 in honor of Ray Alf, this fully endowed chair provides a competitive salary and benefits package to an innovative, energetic, and unbounded science teacher.

The Raymond M. Alf Peccary Society Chair Established in 1999 by the Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation, this chair supports the development of new and expanded programs that provide Webb students with unique educational opportunities in paleontology and scientific research, and also supports the museum director’s work with Webb students in the field, the lab, and the classroom.

This gift was made possible by Col. John ’59 and June Rogers.

The Alumni Endowed Fund for Equity and Support Established in 2023 by the Board of Trustees, in an ongoing effort to sustain a sense of inclusion and belonging in the Webb community, this fund provides additional resources to ensure all Webb students have access to the full breadth of the Webb experience.

Appleby Endowed Scholarship Fund for Student Diversity Established in 1996 by Carlton Appleby ’41 to support scholarships.

Appleby Maintenance Fund Established in 1987 by Carlton Appleby ’41 in honor of his mother, Jerene Appleby Harnish, to provide for the ongoing care of Appleby Dormitory.

The Richard and Kathleen Armour Scholarship Fund Established in 2001 by Mrs. Richard Armour, mother of Geoff ’59, to provide scholarship support for deserving students.

Olive W. and Bruce P. Baganz Fund for Geology Established in 2021 by Terry and Bruce Baganz to support geology education at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology. The fund will support Museum staff professional development in geology, field trips, Museum classroom technology with direct application to geology, support for geology library materials, outside speakers and programs on science-based geology organized by the Museum, paleontology laboratory support, classroom materials on geology in conjunction with Museum designation, support for geologybased Museum research, and more.

The C.J. Peter Bennett ’40 Scholarship Fund Established in 2015 by C.J. Peter Bennett ’40 in honor of his 75th reunion to provide financial aid to a deserving student.

The Michael ’92 and Alicia Chang Scholarship Established in 2012 by Michael Chang ’92 and his wife in honor of his 20th reunion to provide financial assistance to a deserving Webb School of California boarder.

The Kenneth Clarke, Jr. Scholarship Fund Established by Richard P. Collegiate School Scholarship Fund Established in 1986 to provide scholarship support to Vivian Webb School by the trustees of Claremont Collegiate School (formerly Girls’ Collegiate School) after the school closed.

Robert L. Connolly Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund In 2018 in honor of his 30th reunion, Robert “Bob” L. Connolly ’89 with his wife, Nancy Tung, created this fund in memory of Bob’s father, Robert L. Connolly, Sr., who taught at The Webb Schools from 1982 to 1991 and was a dedicated math teacher to his son and many of his son’s peers.

This fund will provide financial aid for future generations of Webb students.

Marvin S. Corwin Endowment Established in 1992 from the estate of Marvin S. Corwin, father of Nicholas ’84, to endow a speaker’s program for Webb School of California.

The Crean Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund Established in 2010 by The Crean Foundation of Newport Beach, California to provide scholarships to deserving students. This support was made possible by the Crean family, and in part by parent and Crean Foundation board member Susan Thomas P ’05, ’09.

The Jim Dahler Fund for Faculty Excellence Established and named in memory of a longterm faculty member, The Jim Dahler Fund for Faculty Excellence supports the lives and professional work of talented and dedicated faculty. Few educators embody the spirit of Webb as closely as Jim Dahler did in his 36 years of service. His legacy lives on in the spirit of those he inspired—students, alumni, faculty, staff, and parents who are forever grateful for his numerous contributions and who created this fund in his honor.

James T. Demetriades ’80 Endowed Prize For Unbounded Teaching Established in 2005 by James Demetriades ’80 in honor of his 25th reunion, the prize is awarded annually to a Webb teacher for the most innovative and creative course, program, or approach that fosters a hearty appetite for the joys of unbounded thinking and learning among students and others.

The Ding Family Endowed Fund Established in honor of their children, Jian Ding and Yi Wang P ’24, ’28, ’28 created The Ding Family Fund to provide perpetual unrestricted operating funds to Webb to enhance its operations and secure its future.

The Pravina Dholakia Scholarship Fund Established in 2002 by Sanjiv Dholakia ’87 & Melissa Barnes Dholakia ’87, P ’21 and Sameer Dholakia ’91 in honor of their mother to provide scholarship support to a deserving Vivian Webb School student.

The John Duden Class of ’81 Scholarship Fund Established in 2006 by members of the Class of 1981 in honor of their 25th reunion to support scholarships for deserving students. In 2018, the

The 21st Century Endowed Scholarship Fund Established in 2019 by Snigdha and Deval Dvivedi ’00, with additional gifts from Sandeep Madhavan ’99 and members of Webb’s Classes from 2000 to the present to provide financial aid to future generations of deserving students.

The David D. Fawcett ’61 & Diane C. Wilsdon Scholarship Fund Established in 2014 by members of the Class of 1961 in honor and recognition of their classmate’s extraordinary 39-year career and his wife’s 30-year career as Webb faculty members and presented at their retirement.

David Fleishhacker ‘55 Research Award in Paleontology Established in 2019 by David Fleishhacker ’55 and his wife, Victoria, to support student research at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology.

Mortimer Fleishhacker ’50 Endowed Arts Fund Established in 2012 by Françoise Fleishhacker in honor of her late husband. The purpose of the endowed fund is to provide ongoing annual programmatic support for the arts at Webb. It is intended to create supplemental income to increase the arts budget so faculty can enhance production capabilities, concerts, exhibits, hire professional guest artists, etc.

Fawcett Library Plant Endowment This endowment was made possible by life trustee Mrs. W.R. Fawcett in 1989 for the ongoing support of the W. Russell Fawcett Memorial Library.

Firestone Fund This scholarship endowment was made possible

by Leonard K. Firestone, father of Kimball ’51 and A. Brooks ’54, and the Firestone Foundation.

The Forney Family Scholarship Fund Established in 2018 by John and Jai Forney, Jonathan Forney ’02, and Christopher Forney ’03 to provide financial aid to families in extreme need. Preference will be given to students from the following geographic regions in priority order: 1) East Los Angeles or South Central Los Angeles; 2) Small town rural America as defined by populations under 50,000.

The Fund for Arts and Sciences Established in 2021, this endowed fund ensures that Webb has the necessary resources to sustain its excellence in arts and sciences, specifically paleontology, biology, music, math, and humanities.

Edward E. Ford Foundation Fund Established in 1994 to support faculty enrichment.

The Gao/Li Family Fund for Faculty Development and Support Moved by the long and meaningful career of Jim Dahler, Liangyu Gao and Kun Li P ’26 created this fund to thank and support teachers for dedicating their life to the profession. Designated funding supports Webb’s faculty sabbatical program. The fund allows faculty paid time off for research and creative activities, travel, development of new curriculum or programs, acquisition of new skills, and more.

Catherine Garrison Fund Established in 1983 by Anne Garrison Gould, life trustee and founding Vivian Webb School trustee, in memory of her mother, to provide scholarship support for Vivian Webb students.

The Donald L. Lofgren Endowed Director’s Chair Established in 2019 with a lead gift by Ken De Nault ’61 in honor of Don Lofgren to endow the Director of the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology position. Since the fund was first established, it has received gifts from alumni, parents and friends across the decades in honor of Dr. Lofgren.

Specifically, these funds will be used to support instruction in Mandarin and provide faculty and students with resources they can use to further their immersion into their study of Mandarin and Chinese culture.

N. Price Paschall ’67 Fund Established in 1966 by Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Paschall, parents of Price Paschall ’67, to provide scholarship support.

Jean E. Miller Excellence in Teaching Award Named in honor of the second headmistress of Vivian Webb School, the fund was established in 1987 by The Affiliates of The Webb Schools to recognize and reward distinguished teaching.

Les and Barbara Perry Faculty Enrichment Fund Established in 1995 to honor Les and Barbara Perry with the creation of the “Perry Awards,” presented to deserving faculty who embody the Perry legacy.

Miranda Scholarship Fund Established in 1998 by Rodrigo, Sr. and Iona Miranda, parents of Cristobal ’95, Rodrigo, Jr. ’98, and Mariana ’98, to support scholarships.

Lluella Morey Murphey Scholarship Endowment Established in 1983 to provide scholarship support, this fund was made possible in part by Alfred B. Hastings, Jr. ’42.

The Malcolm C. McKenna Goler Research Fund Established in 2008 in memory of Malcolm McKenna ’48, this fund supports fieldwork in the Goler Formation, which includes the study of California’s oldest fossil mammals and the early geologic history of coastal California 60 million years ago.

Muhammed Rizvi Mowjood Library Endowment Established in 1992 to provide funds to purchase books for the study of Islam, this fund was made possible by friends and relatives in memory of Muhammad Mowjood, father of Rahmi ’90.

Samuel H. Nigh, Jr. ’63 Fund Established in 1977 by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nigh, parents of Samuel H. Nigh, Jr. ’63, this fund provides an award to the student who has contributed most to the development of the athletic program at Webb School of California.

The Jacques and Mimi Pauwels Fund for Excellence in World Languages and Cultures Created in 2015 by Eric Pauwels ’79 in honor of his parents, the Pauwels Fund provides support for teacher and student development in the area of World Languages and Cultures.

The Endowed Fund for Physical Plant Excellence Established with a gift from an anonymous donor, this fund will grow with gifts from this donor and others who wish to ensure that Webb always has the means to refresh, improve and upgrade its distinctive and beautiful foothill campus.

Pratt Fund Established in 1983 by Lycurgus (Curgie) Pratt ’52, father of Hewitt L. Pratt ’90, this fund provides scholarship support. Additional gifts to this fund were made by the Class of 1952 in his memory..

The Coach Dan Pride Fund Established in 2008 by the Wray and Dey families, the Coach Dan Pride Fund provides support to honor and recognize outstanding student-athletes through the Dan Pride Award, given annually to both a VWS and WSC student who characterize hard work, determination, and dedication in the athletic arena.

Quon Family Scholarship Fund Established in 2006 by Ronald Quon ’55 to honor his father and family, this fund provides scholarship support that allows Webb to attract the best and brightest and most diverse students from across the nation.

Ripley ’60 Scholarship Fund supports students interested in world languages, international relations, and service, areas of study that Bill Ripley excelled in The Mary Stuart Rogers Endowed Scholarship The Mary Stuart Rogers Scholar Program began in 1995 with a generous gift from Col. John ’59 and June Rogers and the Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation. Since its beginning and because of the tremendous generosity of the Rogers family, the Rogers Scholar Program has grown from six to more than 20 students each and every year.

To become a Rogers Scholar an individual must: demonstrate admirable qualities of character; demonstrate a strong work ethic and potential for academic achievement; demonstrate leadership potential among his/her peers; and contribute positively to the spirit and life of the schools through athletics, the arts, publications, and o ther activities.

Snite Scholarship Fund Established in 2009 by the Fred B. Snite Foundation to provide scholarship support to a deserving student. This support was made possible in part by alumnus and Snite Foundation board member Lance Williams ’97.

The Taylor and Anne Stockdale Fund for Community Life Established by the Board of Trustees in 2023, the Taylor and Anne Stockdale Fund for Community Life honors and celebrates Taylor and Anne Stockdale for their extraordinary legacy of building community over 35 years at Webb. This fund is dedicated to enhancing the overall wellbeing of students, faculty, and staff by providing resources and opportunities for meaningful engagement. It supports a wide range of activities, such as organizing community service projects, cultural celebrations, and extracurricular clubs.

Additionally, proceeds from this fund will be used to support the maintenance of the Taylor B. Stockdale Community Center. By nurturing a strong sense of belonging and encouraging social connections, the Stockdale Fund enriches the Webb experience and cultivates a spirit of unity and mutual support within the school community.

Student Activity Fund Established by the Class of 2008 as part of their senior gift with additional gifts from the Classes of 1988 and 1990 in honor of their 20th reunions.

The fund aims to assist financial aid students with extra-curricular costs, such as expenses related to senior trips, weekend activities, Unbounded Days, peccary trips, or community service outings.

So many memorable Webb experiences happen outside the classroom, and the goal of this fund is to make these activities accessible to as many Webb students as possible.

Student Leadership Program Development Fund This fund was established to ensure that Webb has the necessary resources to sustain and further develop its excellence in providing unique and valuable opportunities for student leadership.

This fund supports annual student leadership programming, professional development for faculty advisors, and the development of leadership opportunities with outside partners such as the Claremont Colleges and throughout the broader community.

The Sun Family Fund for Performing Arts Established in 2019 by LiangLiang Sun ’06 and the Sun family in support of the Orchestra and Chamber Singers Programs. The fund will ensure that Webb has the necessary resources to sustain its excellence in instrumental music and vocal performance.

Named for Alfred B. Hastings, Jr. ’42, this society honors our most loyal supporters who embody Al’s commitment to the schools and our community.

A distinguished alumnus, life trustee, and consistent donor, Al dedicated his life to the advancement of The Webb Schools, giving every year and joining the Thompson & Vivian Webb Society by making a planned gift to the schools. He was an early champion of the establishment of Vivian Webb School and a close friend to Thompson and Vivian Webb.

Membership in the Hastings Society is automatic after you have made a gift to Webb or the Alf Museum for three consecutive fiscal years (measured from July 1 to June 30). You remain in the society as long as you continue to renew your annual support.

Nathan Damrongrat ’26 Connects Paleontology and Home When Nathan Damrongrat ’26 arrived at Webb from Thailand, he didn’t plan to become a paleontologist. And still, after four years of volunteering with the Alf Museum—sorting microfossils, identifying teeth, scanning dinosaurs, and more—he discovered something meaningful and lasting: the power of curiosity and the joy of learning beyond the classroom.

Though Damrongrat has pursued a variety of other academic passions at Webb, he remains a devoted museum volunteer, drawn to the stories fossils tell. A few years ago, a casual conversation with Augustyn Family Curator Dr. Mairin Balisi sent him on an unexpected journey. When Dr. Balisi mentioned she was traveling to Thailand for a paleontology conference, Damrongrat was surprised. He had never heard much about dinosaur discoveries in his own country.

After some research, Damrongrat discovered something even more remarkable. Thailand is home to many important fossil sites and dinosaur discoveries, yet information about them is limited, particularly in the rural regions where fossils are found.

Motivated to change that, he spent last summer creating a bilingual book about Thai dinosaurs, written in both Thai and English, entirely on his own. Copies are now available at a regional dinosaur

museum and through Thailand’s tourism authority, helping to share science and national pride with new audiences.

“Writing Meet The Thai Dinosaurs was an experience that allowed me to apply my skills learned at Webb. While writing the book, I had to keep in mind that the target readers were children. Luckily, my Advanced Studies classes at Webb, taken my junior year, allowed me to think outside of the box. This experience showed me that what is learned in the classroom doesn’t need to remain there,” he said.

Damrongrat’s story shows how a single spark of inspiration, nurtured through his work at Webb and with the Alf Museum, can grow into something extraordinary that bridges curiosity, culture, and learning.

Ways to Give Make a Gift

The Webb Schools and the Alf Museum are registered as charitable organizations under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to Webb and the Alf Museum are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Planned Gifts

Bequests, Testamentary Trusts, Charitable Trusts and Life Income Plans:

Webb accepts gifts of appreciated stock or mutual fund shares.

Planning a gift to The Webb Schools or the Alf Museum through your will or living trust can be achieved through a new document or a codicil to an existing document. You may specify a dollar amount, a percentage of your total estate or a piece of personal property. Estate gifts made through a will or trust may also help reduce federal estate tax liability and allow you to create a charitable legacy that aligns with your personal values. The Advancement Office can help you make a decision regarding your financial plans, which can also include charitable gifts that pay you income during life or provide for your heirs.

Gifts of Securities:

Increase your giving power through matching gifts. Many companies will match the charitable contributions of their employees.

Gifts of Property:

Property gifts can include real estate and tangible personal property such as antiques, art, and the like.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA is a simple and tax-efficient way to support Webb.

If you are 70½ or older, you can donate up to $108,000 per year directly from your IRA to a qualified charity— reducing your taxable income while satisfying all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD). It’s a powerful way to make an immediate impact on Webb students and programs.

Remainder Interest in a Personal Residence or Farm:

You may retain a life interest in your home or farm while deeding the property to The Webb Schools or the Alf Museum. Though you may continue to live in or use the property, you may claim a tax deduction at the time the property is transferred.

Life Insurance:

The Webb Schools or the Alf Museum can be a total or partial beneficiary of an existing whole life insurance policy, or a new policy may be taken out for this purpose. Life insurance can be used to cover charitable gifts made from your estate. Annuities may also be given to Webb or the museum.
