WARRIOR IMPACT STORY Tomorra Warrior success during a global pandemic Background Tomorra was referred to TWA during the pandemic following a COVID-19 layoff and a subsequent illegal eviction from which she was facing homelessness. However, the most heartbreaking part of her life came last summer when her son suddenly passed away. Her circumstances were devastating and required immediate action just to help Tomorra make it through the next day.
Solution After review of her needs assessment and the results of the Quality of Life survey, her Navigator went to work to fill the critical needs for food and shelter, while contacting our community partners to provide services that would get Tomorra on a better path. TWA recently announced the Food Insecurity Project as part of a grant from The Bob Woodruff Foundation. This project provided a great opportunity to support Tomorra’s ongoing needs for food assistance so that she, along with 99 other veterans, could receive a Kroger $100 gift card. Additionally, TWA worked with Atlanta Technical College to get her enrolled for the next semester, while working to rehouse her family into stable housing.
Impact The assistance from the TWA network is enabling Tomorra to support herself and her grandchildren during the most difficult time of their lives. While the road ahead will be met with continued challenges, knowing she has her military family to support her is more than a relief. “The Warrior Alliance provided support for food and a back brace for back pain while I am unemployed due to Covid-19. My case manager was professional and supportive… this organization goes beyond the call of duty for veterans. I am most grateful.”
