If you set your sights higher than the stunning mountains, Wanaka’s skies offer a picturesque playground for thrill seekers and sightseers alike. Take a tour of the big blue above and have your mind blown at the in-air activities Wanaka has to offer. Go up and away with a breath-taking flight in a fixed wing plane (See Southern Alps Air on page 41), land at one of the many glaciers in a helicopter (see Wanaka Helicopters on page 44), get your adrenaline fix with a skydive (see Skydive Wanaka on page 34), soar over waterfalls with a tandem paraglide, or soak in the sights while cruising the lake with a parasail. Wanaka is home to the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow which is held biennially. The show will be held 29 – 31 March 2024.
