MY COMMUNITY NEWS
Play Your Part in World Environment Day
Water ows through our rohe/region, sustaining everyone and everything. Water is life, and when it’s safe and healthy, so are we. Right now, the health of local lakes and rivers are in decline, facing contamination from pollution and invasive species.
WAI Wānaka is a community organisation, accelerating local action for freshwater to ensure healthy ecosystems and community wellbeing for future generations. They foster an understanding of and connection to local lakes and rivers, o ering people the tools to reduce their impact and take action.
This Thursday 5 June is World Environment Day and a good chance to nd out how you can get involved. Whether it’s adopting a drain, becoming a citizen scientist, joining a beach clean-up, donating to a research project or education programme, there’s plenty of ways you can play your part.
WAI Wānaka have just updated their website homepage, with a fresh new look and feel to make all of this a lot easier to navigate.
Head over to www.waiwanaka.nz to learn more and take action.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to St John and the Cold Kids Campaign, after covering essential running costs.
The schedule o ers something for everyone, with sessions in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Natha Yoga, Laughter Yoga, Qi Gong, meditation, philosophy, and Yoga Nidra. A Sound Journey and a live Kirtan session with Kirtan Journey Queenstown add a powerful musical and meditative element to the day.
