On Saturday 16 June from 2.30pm until 6.00pm Kahu Youth will be celebrating Matariki once again at the Dinosaur Park. We’ll have our usual workshops and Kapa Haka performances, two bonfires on the shore with fire dance performances and loads more. There will be the huge community hangi, with over 900 portions packed in, and to finish it off we will be having our amazing fireworks display - so make sure you hang about! Once again this is a truly community affair. We want to give a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, schools and community organisations that put their blood, sweat and tears into making this happen. Everything from the hangi prep to set-up, pack down, stewarding and all the workshops and performances are volunteer-led. Our sponsors this year are the Wanaka Pantomimers,
LINK Upper Clutha, Callis Charitable Trust, The Wanaka Alcohol Group, Smokefree NZ, Radio Wanaka and the QLDC. Our local community partners include Wastebusters, Mitre 10, Peak Functions, Downer, Print It, 4am Studio, Bullock Bar, The Butcher’s Block, Entertainment Solutions, Med Market and Venus Coffee. We are always humbled by the level of help, support and plain old hard graft we receive from the community to make this happen. So come on down on Saturday and share some kai and good times!
