Celebrating 10 years of YAMI (Youth + Adults in the Music Industry), this one-of-a-kind weekend summit guides musicians and music-lovers keen to pursue a career in the industry.

The not-for-profit event brings in expert tutors with in-depth experience in performance, management, copyright, royalties, engineering, tech, recording, sync industry, album release, touring, and production.

On Saturday night (3 May), the general public is treated to performances from Tom Scott (Home Brew, Avantdale Bowling Club), Gin Wigmore, Haz + Miloux, and Bobby Brazuka (Latinaotearoa), supported by choir and bands.

On Sunday night (4 May), the ever-popular YAMI showcase features Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties) as this year’s Kiwi Legend, who performs alongside songwriters, producers and musicians.

Tutors and speakers from The Teskey Brothers, Black Comet, The Nudge, The Nomad, Roundhead Studios, NZ On Air, APRA, NZ Music Commission, Concord Publishing, Twice The Hype, Mind Your Music, and inspiring local tutors round off this ground-breaking summit.

Mountain Bike Youth Programmes with WORD

At WORD (World O -road Riding Department), we’re all about fuelling the stoke for young mountain bikers.

Our youth programmes are designed to build con dence, improve bike handling skills, and foster a love for the outdoors in a safe, supportive setting. From beginners to advanced riders, our expert coaches guide kids every step of the way.

April School Holiday Camps: Adventure Awaits! Keep the kids active this holiday with WORD’s epic mountain biking camps, tailored for various ages and skill levels. Check out our lineup:

• Queenstown Girls Camp-out! (14 - 15 April):

Overnight adventure for 10 - 12 year old girls, camping at 12 Mile, riding 7 Mile and Skyline. Transport from Wanaka to Queenstown included.

• Tour de Gnar (14 April): For 10 - 14 year olds tackling techy trails at Bike Glendhu.

• Know Your Local (15 - 16 April): This two day camp is designed for 7 - 10 year old intermediate riders, building con dence exploring Hikuwai/Deans Bank on day one and shredding Bike Glendhu on day two.

Spectacular Easter Egg Hunt

The Wanaka Community Hub is excited to announce our annual Wanaka Children’s Spectacular Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, 12 April, 10.00am - 12.00pm at ‘The Hub’ (34 McDougall Street, Wanaka). Entry is Koha, with the proceeds going to the Cold Kids Campaign Fund coordinated by Community Link Upper Clutha. This fund supports local families who need help with staying warm this winter.

Easter fancy dress is encouraged, but be aware that there will be some messy arts and crafts to get involved in and the hunt itself is outdoors.

We will have two start times, 10.00am and 11.00am. Make sure to give your preference when you register. We have fantastic community support with some great ra e prizes that include a very ash children’s bike and a Nutribullet up for grabs!

Celebrate 125 Years of Rugby in Wanaka

Upper Clutha Rugby Club will be celebrating our 125th Jubilee over the weekend of 16 - 18 May. There will be a dinner on the Saturday night at the Lake Wanaka Centre with special guests, stories from the past and a band.

Upper Clutha has a rich history and after a well celebrated 100th back in 2000, it is time to honour the last 25 years. With new clubrooms, championships, White Horse Cup wins, and the many colourful people that have been through or supported our Club. We will look to have most of our junior teams playing throughout the Saturday morning, with hopefully some open grades and possibly a golden oldies game on the Friday night.

Our premier team will play Maniototo at a slightly earlier start to make room for the evening festivities Registrations are now open, so check out our Facebook page. Make sure you get in quick as numbers are limited.
