The 2025 Quality of Life Survey is now open, and local organisations like Community Link are urging residents to take part.
This annual survey, run by Queenstown Lakes District Council since 2018, helps gauge how people feel about housing, health services, transport, employment, the environment, and sense of community. The insights are vital for planning programmes that truly meet local needs.
“Understanding what matters most to our
families facing a tough time. Data from the survey helps us anticipate demand and improve access to essential services like this, ensuring everyone has support when they need it.
The survey is open to residents over 18, and takes 1520 minutes, and responses are anonymous. It closes at 5.00pm on Sunday, 16 November.
Community Link has hard copies and iPads available for anyone without online access and will ensure completed surveys reach council on time. Just pop in, fill it in and we’ll take it from there.

Wastebusters’ popular Repair Revolution is back this Sunday, 2 November at 10.00am to 2.00pm at the Wānaka Community Workshop, and the team is looking for more community xers to join the crew.
The events, held several times a year, bring together local volunteers who help mend clothing, small appliances, bikes and more, keeping good items in use rather than heading to land ll.
“We’re incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated team of volunteers at our repair events,” says Wastebusters events coordinator Celine van de Eecken. “They’re epic. My favourite part is all the conversations and connections that happen between our volunteer xers and the people who bring something in to be repaired.”
More than 400 items have already been xed
this year, ranging from darning socks and resewing buttons to repairing toasters, lamps and other everyday household items.
With more locals coming along each time, Wastebusters is inviting a few extra volunteer xers to join the day so even more treasures can be brought back to life.
“It’s a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, full of yarns and problemsolving,” Celine says. “You don’t need to be a professional. If you enjoy sewing, glueing, darning, xing bikes or small electrics, we would love to hear from you.”

A rare collaboration between the Central Otago Regional Choir and the Central Otago Regional Orchestra will present 'A Feast of Fauré', a concert celebrating the beauty and depth of Gabriel Fauré’s music, enriched by the warmth of traditional Christmas carols.
The highlight for many will be Fauré’s serene Requiem, one of the most beloved choral works of all time. Under the direction of Richard Madden, the choir, accompanied by the orchestra, will bring this masterpiece to life with grace and sensitivity.
A selection of traditional carols with inimitable arrangements by John Rutter will add some early festive sparkle.
As guest artists, the orchestra, conducted by Ashley Hopkins, will perform two contrasting works; Berceuse, the rst and best known movement of Fauré’s delightful Dolly Suite,
