May 13th and 14th sees the return of YAMI Sounz Summit to the Lake Wanaka Centre, where locals and travellers can experience a musical weekend working alongside Anika Moa, Julia Deans, Warren Maxwell, Barnaby Weir, Tali, Anna Coddington, Paddy Free and many more.
to the stage, along with emerging jazz/ funk/electro outfit Yoko Zuna featuring Bailey Wiley. On Sunday night, Hall of Fame inductee Moana Maniapoto and King Kapisi perform alongside guests and summit participants, in an unforgettable showcase.
Over 150 people take part in the summit, with tutors and speakers from all areas of the music industry, including representatives from Pandora, NZ On Air, Rhythmethod, NZ Music Commission and Recorded Music NZ.
Lake Wanaka SouNZ Incorporated, which runs the summit, is a not-for profit group which returns all profits to music education. Incredible local and national support has ensured the summit’s return to the town, although after 2017, YAMI moves to a biennial event.
