Lindis Pass Conservation Group has terrifically hard-working people carrying out sterling work in the Lindis Pass Scenic Reserve. Like many volunteer groups, they are few rather than many. The same core people turn up to workdays year after year and they are not getting any younger! The LPCG needs a big infusion of younger, stronger, committed volunteers, or it will fade away. If you love the Lindis, with its clean, beautiful, outrageously photogenic landscapes of susurrating tall tussock, please think about taking a break from your daily toil for a day of restorative mountain tussock-bathing, and to do some good work on the Pass. The Group has been warring against the highly invasive Russell Lupin. The policy is “No
flowers, no seeds”. In this season of unprecedented growth however, this has proved hard to achieve.

NZTA has done a good job of keeping the highway verges clear, and the DOC tends to the Conservation Areas on either side. The Scenic Reserve is largely looked after by our volunteers, and you can thank them for the "clean" reserve landscape - no smothering swathes of lupin, no bristling matrix of sweet brier, no build-up of travellers’ rubbish lying on the roadsides, and no wilding conifers, pest broom and gorse. We would love (and NEED) more volunteers. The next scheduled weekend workday is 5 February.
