Friends of Wanaka Wastebusters invite you to become a life member of FOWWB and support this locally owned and operated social enterprise. Gone are the $1 yearly subscriptions of the past, now you can belong forever. After operating as a community initiated incorporated society for 13 years, in 2013 Wanaka Wastebusters became a not for profit company, Wanaka Wastebusters Ltd. The desire to retain a sense of grass roots connection to the ethos and philosophy behind the initial formation of WWB, resulted in the formation of The Friends of Wanaka Wastebusters (FOWWB). In other words, Wanaka Wastebusters is the company and you, as members of the community, are the shareholders. FOWWB want the community to be involved. FOWWB comprises a small band of people who hold the shares (having no monetary value) on your behalf, as part of their role in supporting the guiding principles of Wanaka Wastebusters.

Large FamiLy Living On Larch

We are sure many of you have a WWB story. Some may remember the early days of selective scavenging from the side of the landfill on Ballantyne Road, or the meetings in the drafty old town hall when dreams of a sustainable recycling future were just that, dreams. Some may also remember the opening of Wanaka Wastebusters when Mayor Warren Cooper disparagingly shared his cynical belief that the enterprise would be short lived. Perhaps you are a more recent arrival and you have discovered the joys of foraging amongst the treasures in the yard or shop, or you may be a committed business or individual/household recycler, or perhaps you have experienced the educational delights of Dr Compost or Enviroschools. For your $10 life long member fee you receive a $5 gift voucher to spend at WWB, a sticker and a sense of pride in being connected with something that ‘makes a difference’. You can join at the store, or look for us at the Farmers Market. Remember you are a shareholder in this community venture. (If you want more involvement, enquire about the FOWWB group).
