Mental Health Awareness Month 2025
This October, Community Link and local groups have created a full month of activities, workshops, and events to celebrate mental health and wellbeing. From yoga and Zumba to re ective walks, book clubs, breathwork, and volunteering, there’s something for everyone.
Because mental health is health - it’s not something to be hidden or ashamed of. It’s something we can grow, protect, and share together as a community. When we look after ourselves and each other, our whole community grows stronger.

Natural Cleaning Workshop Returns This Spring
Discover how low waste, low toxic living can be better for your health, lighter on the planet and kinder on your wallet. Wastebusters’ much-loved Natural Cleaning Workshop is back on Wednesday, 8 October, 6.00 – 8.00pm at the Wānaka Community Hub after selling out in June.
“People are often surprised by how easy and a ordable it is to make their own natural products,” says Wastebusters Communications Manager Ruth Blunt. “The workshops are always lively and inspiring, and it’s great to see the community come together to learn new skills.”
Part of Wastebusters’ Low Waste Living programme, the workshop o ers practical skills to help households cut single-use plastics, reduce toxins and
save money. Participants roll up their sleeves to make everyday essentials such as all-purpose sprays, laundry powder, toilet pods and scented jars – simple recipes that are safe, e ective and easy to recreate at home.
Guests can also look forward to a spread of low waste kai, including Wastebusters’ famous dal, seed crackers and pea dip, with recipes provided. Everyone leaves with their own handmade cleaning products and a sustainable goodie to take home.
This Resourceful Communities event is proudly supported by the Queenstown Lakes District Council’s Zero Waste District Programme.
