Make a difference in your Community and improve your health - VOLUNTEER!
Studies show that volunteering provides benefits to both your mental and physical health. This means that the time you spend volunteering offers a double advantage; you help others and you’re also helping yourself! The Cancer Society offers services and support to people affected by cancer in our communities. We can’t do it without the time and effort given by our teams of volunteers. Relay For Life and Daffodil Day simply couldn’t happen without volunteers like Alison Stretch (in the light pink). Alison has been a member of the Wanaka team for many, many years. Do you have a few hours to give? Regularly or casually, there are roles that may suit you; baking, carer relief, companionship, driving, cleaning, gardening – we need men and women of all ages in the Wanaka area.
We have roles to assist in providing emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer and their families. Volunteers work closely with supportive care staff to help people in their community and receive training and ongoing support. Contact us to find out more!
