Kahu Youth presents Matariki
Written by: Richard Elvey This Saturday the 25 th of July from 2.30pm until 6.00pm Kahu Youth will be celebrating Matariki once again at the Dinosaur Park. We didn’t think we’d be able to do this, but our amazing team of 5 million, and then our amazing community have pulled together to make this a reality! We’ll have our usual workshops and kapa haka performances, a huge paint it yourself community mural, two bonfires on the shore with fire dance performances and loads more. There will be the huge community hangi, with over 900 portions packed in, and to finish it off we will be having our amazing firework display - so make sure you hang about!
Our local community partners include Wastebusters, Mitre 10, Downer, Heartland Design and Print, the Bullock Bar, Placemakers, ANZ volunteers, Entertainment Solutions, Med Market and Venus Coffee. We are always humbled by the level of help, support and plain old hard graft we receive from the community to make this happen. So come on down on Saturday and share some kai and good times!
