Despite the daily influx of news, it can sometimes be hard to know where to turn. Community Networks Wanaka and LINK Upper Clutha are involved in the Council-led emergency response, with our staff leading the local welfare team and providing direct support and information. If you have questions related to the following issues, here are the most important websites and numbers to have handy: General – For the most accurate and updated sources of information. Central government’s resource hub: www.covid19.govt.nz Local government’s resource hub: www.qldc.govt.nz QLDC customer care lines are open during normal business hours 03 443 0024. Physical Health – If you exhibit Covid-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), call Healthline 0800 358 5453 or your local GP. Mental Health – If you need to talk with someone urgently, free call or text 1737 for support from trained counsellors anytime, or call your GP. For a list of local counsellors, go to www.communitynetworks.co.nz (click on “Looking for Support”). For general advice on mental health resources, visit www.qldc.govt.nz (click on “Health & Wellbeing”). Welfare – If you are looking for assistance with food provision, financial issues, accommodation, or simply
need to connect, complete a welfare registration form at www.qldc.govt.nz (click “Do you need help?”) or ring 0800 322 4000. The welfare response team will follow up with you. Business – The newly formed Southern Lakes Business Response Group provides helpful information for employers and employees on the QLDC website under “Covid-19 Business Support and Advice”. Volunteer – If you want to offer your time or service, Volunteering Central is coordinating that effort with Council, and you can register through www.qldc.govt.nz (click “Offer your support”).
