NEW FUNDRAISING COOKBOOK FOR WANAKA PRIMARY

Wānaka Primary School has launched a professionally produced family cookbook to raise funds for the school. The cookbook – entitled Bite: Mountain munches, lakeside lunches and everything in between – features more than 100 recipes contributed by friends and family of Wānaka Primary. The book is on sale from 1 November for $45 at the Mediterranean Market and other participating Wānaka retailers. It can also be purchased by emailing cookbook@wanaka.school.nz Wānaka Primary School Principal, Dr Wendy Bamford says "100 per cent of the proceeds from sales of the high-quality cookbook will go towards purchasing resources for the school’s seven new 'Maker Spaces'. These dedicated practical learning areas range from cooking, woodwork and sewing spaces to electronics, IT and innovation stations.
These pragmatic learning spaces provide important life skills, encourage independence and are loads of fun for the children,” she says. “We are so lucky to have these facilities at our school.” Thirty-three generous local businesses came on board as sponsors of the cookbook and the school hopes to raise at least $35,000 to purchase specialised Maker Spaces equipment for the long-term benefit of children in the Wānaka community. “We now have the printed cookbook finally in our hands and we are absolutely thrilled with the result,” she says. “We are very grateful to our generous sponsors, as well as the parent volunteers who worked hard over six months to create this fantastic book. "We hope that the community will also support this fundraising project and enjoy this unique collection of tried-and-true Wānaka recipes.”
