One of the South’s best-loved off-road events, the Wānaka Trail Ride is back after a year's hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event returns on 1 April, with exciting updates to the trails, and a few new changes to satisfy riders of all abilities.

The highlight of this year's event is the opportunity for riders to rip into the new loop sections built in 2021 but not ridden in 2022 due to the cancellation. These new sections feature expert and advanced terrain that will test even the most seasoned riders. The trails team has been working hard to get the tracks ready - including a few updates to the advanced/expert loops for 2023.

The Wānaka Trail Ride is a major fundraiser for Wānaka Primary School and Montessori Children’s House Wānaka and promises to deliver plenty of family-friendly fun. Junior riders can take on the free pee wee track, novices will love the beginner trails, and more experienced riders can challenge themselves with advanced and expert trails.

This year, the event has partnered with the Wānaka Lions Club to provide catering throughout the day. Riders can tuck into a range of hot food and beverages to refuel after enjoying the trails.

Wānaka Trail Ride takes place Saturday, 1 April near Tarras. Early bird tickets are on sale nowtickets are $55 for adults (16 years plus) and $20 for juniors. Book at www.wanakatrailride.org
