Last year saw a record crowd down at the Grow Wānaka garden site for the first ever collaboration with the Wānaka Garden Club. The seedling sale surpassed all expectations, so we've teamed up again. Come down to the Grow Wānaka garden Saturday, October 15 from 10.00am-12.00pm to buy your seedlings. Visit the garden and grab a coffee from Little Wanderer. There will be plenty of expert advice on hand from the Wānaka Garden Club members and Grow Wānaka team. If you have any questions about suitable seedlings for your space or how best to care for them.

You are welcome to tour the garden and see how Grow Wānaka has expanded over the winter months in preparation for a productive growing season.

If you have not visited the site before follow the signs from Aubrey Road. Parking available on site and it will be cash only for purchasing your seedlings.

Good day Wanaka, well the weather certainly can’t make its mind up lately. Cold and snow then getting warmer again then back to rain. I guess it is to be expected this time of the year. Well, what have your team in blue been up to this week, and it’s been a pretty busy one.

A few vehicle crashes this week in and around Wanaka. A motorcyclist slid off up on the Crown Range after hitting grit from the recent snow dump up there. So a quick reminder for motorcyclists getting out and enjoying the upcoming good weather, the roads may not be what they seem. Give motorcyclists the respect they deserve. The Crown Range Road again claimed another, this time a vehicle towing a load of firewood falling off the tar seal after losing control. A three-car crash in town on the Brownston and Helwick Street intersection resulted in all three cars needing to be towed from the scene. A vehicle flipped out at Hawea Flat ending up with the rubber in the air not on the road. Fortunately, there were only very minor injuries from the crashes but again most would not have happened if attention was fully on driving and not being distracted.

While Police were dealing with the three-car crash on Brownston Street an out of town 12-year-old was reported as missing. As they weren’t familiar with the area they didn’t know how to get back to where they were staying. Fortunately, the eagle-eyed Sergeant spotted a distressed 12-year-old walk past the crash scene and identified them as the missing person. A successful reuniting with the relieved parents was conducted shortly after.

After doing pretty well lately Wanaka, this past week we have apprehended 5 drink drivers with levels from around 500 up to over 1000. One having crashed into a parked vehicle causing extensive damage. All will be having a date in court to explain themselves with some having lost licences for 28 days already. Remember it just isn’t worth the risk, make alternative arrangements to get home if you’re going to go out and have a

When located they decided to race from Police, heading to Queenstown but decided to return to Wanaka. On their return, Police concerned for the safety of family members, spiked the vehicle's tyres bringing the whole episode to a conclusion and taking the offender into custody to face a raft of family harm and

A public transport trial, connecting the Wānaka CBD, Wānaka Lakes Health Centre, Three Parks, Albert Town, Hāwea Flat and Lake Hāwea, is underway.

The Community Shuttle Trial was developed by Community Networks/ LINK in collaboration with Yello! It aims to help meet the transport needs of young people, commuters and seniors seeking more affordable or sustainable transport options – but there are plenty of ways for everyone to use the service. While the trial is short-term, the organisers will collect customer feedback to inform the decision-makers in our district of the demand and feasibility for public transport going forward.
