Save the date! Saturday, 9 January 2021. With successful trips through West Wanaka, Bendigo and Hillend Stations under our belt, this year we will venture a little further afield, to explore Forest Range Station located in the Lindis Pass High Country. This one is a not-to-be missed experience.

We will travel in convoy through stunning Lindis tussock landscapes, climbing to the summit of Mt Grandview. This peak is well named, as we will have unique views of both Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka from the top. We will descend steeply through Mt Grand Station, taking in picturesque views of the Hawea flat. Once at the bottom, we will travel along the Hawea Back Road and meet for a lakeside BBQ on the greenway at Gladstone, on the shores of Lake Hawea at about 4.00pm. We thank Russell & David Emmerson of Forest Range & Ric McNeilly of Mt Grand Stations for allowing access to these iconic properties.
This trip is intended to be an enjoyable family day out and is perfect for those who have a 4WD, but have never really taken it off road. Search and Rescue and Shotover 4WD Club vehicles will be placed among the convoy for added safety. We will assemble at the Forest Range homestead at 9.30am. Allow about 1 hour driving time from Wanaka. Registration is essential and numbers are strictly limited. If you don’t have a 4WD vehicle, register anyway. There are always spare seats and we will find one for you! Adults $60, children under 15yrs $25, children under 5yrs free. A donation from the proceeds will be made to Wanaka Search and Rescue (SAR). Wanaka and Districts Lions are proud to support this essential community organisation.
