For the past 3 years Wanaka and Districts Lions Club have been leading 4WD Safaris to some of the most iconic high country stations in our region. In 2017 they took 50 trucks to West Wanaka Station, and a similar number to Bendigo Station last year. This year the Safari trip, planned for 11 January, is sticking close to town, but the views will be the best yet. Heading to Hillend Station, up the northern flanks of Mt Alpha, you are guaranteed jaw dropping, panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and town and the Cardrona Valley. Join us to see this working high country station in action, which runs sheep, deer and Angus beef.

On this trip, we will assemble at Heaton Park (directions: https://goo.gl/maps/7Jh6KY4MfTrbnHUKA) at 12.30pm. We will travel in convoy through high country tussock landscapes, climbing to approximately 1000m, finishing at Timber Creek near Cardrona Valley Rd. The Wanaka

Chef special of the week

and Districts Lions Club will be there to supply a BBQ at the end of the day.

Pork belly, confit brussels, kumara puree, roast hazlenut crumb and maple & sherry vinaigrette.

The journey will take a minimum of 3½ hours, so you should bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water. The weather can change rapidly, so bring warm clothing and suitable footwear.

Come enjoy views of Lake Wanaka & town, our style Call us on: 03 443 5099 // Email: kota.wanaka@gmail.com 80 Ardmore Street, Lake Wanaka

Registration is essential and numbers are strictly limited. Don’t worry if you don’t have a 4WD vehicle, we will find one for you to travel in. Cost of the Safari will be $55 for adults and $25 for children under 15 years (children under 5 are free). Again a donation from the proceeds will be made to Wanaka Search and Rescue. Thank you to Sam Morgan the owner of Hillend Station and also Mike Scurr (Manager) for their support, both for Wanaka and District Lions and Wanaka Search and Rescue.
