THE WALLIS: A RICH HISTORY, A COMMUNITY-CENTRIC MISSION.
The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts campus has been a symbol of civic pride for the City of Beverly Hills and Greater Los Angeles since first opening its doors in 1934 as a local post office arising from Roosevelt’s New Deal. In 1994, a group of community members established an organization dedicated to the adaptive reuse of the historic post office as a cultural venue, and to continue the building’s long tradition of public use and service. This spirit of civic engagement, bolstered by the visionary Wallis Annenberg, the Annenberg Foundation, and a group of “Dream Builders” from the community, suffuses the historic landmark building and sprawling 70,000 square foot campus of which we are the proud stewards.
Today, The Wallis is a world-class performing arts center where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are warmly welcomed as audience members, arts learners, artistic collaborators, and visitors. Dually focused on impactful artistic programming and our vital GRoW @ The Wallis arts education initiatives, The Wallis has been serving the Beverly Hills and Greater Los Angeles area since its inaugural 2013/2014 Season through its community-centric mission:
Deeply rooted in our local Beverly Hills community and influenced by cultural change, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, a publicprivate partnership with the City of Beverly Hills, strives to be a site for the convergence of relevant, dynamic performing arts, education and civic life, strengthening our local and global community in our role as a presenter, producer, educator and community resource.
2023 marks a historic milestone for The Wallis, the culmination of our first extraordinary decade; now we begin the journey promised by a fresh new chapter serving Beverly Hills and Southern California. We seek your partnership as we launch The Wallis Arrives: a Comprehensive Campaign. This effort will focus on the delivery of four pillars that support our mission:
Artistic Excellence Education And Community Engagement
Historic Preservation
Fiscal Sustainability

Just as the original Capital Campaign that concluded in 2013 galvanized us all with a panoramic vision of what The Wallis could be and set the stage for our first ten extraordinary years, The Wallis Arrives will set a standard of artistic excellence, community connection, and financial sustainability for its next ten years — and beyond.
We invite you to join us as The Wallis ARRIVES.
