HIS SUMMER, Pelham streets and country roads were plentiful with runners, joggers and walkers. As a community, we've been awarded Walk Friendly and Bicycle Friendly status by international organizations, so it's to be expected Pelham is home to many runners of all ages. Winter's approach, if we have one this year, will divide this group into those that enjoy the challenges and invigoration of running outdoors all year, and those that prefer the comfort and shelter of treadmills at the YMCA, private clubs, or their own home. I’ve got to admit, when I hear the word treadmill, gerbil wheel rather than indoor running comes to mind. Not that there’s anything wrong with treadmills. See COLUMN SIX Page 18
