Airport has a lot to offer the community, says manager David Devine BY VOICE STAFF The Town of Pelham recently approved funding for repair and maintenance work at the Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport in South Pelham. This included $200,000 for hangar roof repairs, which would be partially offset by a federal grant matching funds up to $100,000, as well as $150,000 for an upgraded septic system, and $10,000 for runway repairs. It’s all money well-spent, according to airport manager David Devine, who touts the facility as an important piece of economic and social community infrastructure. “Maintaining the airport is pricey and people do tend to look at airports like they are just playgrounds for the rich, when they’re not,” he says. “The same way that a soccer pitch, or a bridge
