Annual gathering sees discussion of Kame, transit, Community Centre BY VOICE STAFF Last week, Ward 2 Councillor Gary Accursi and Ward 3 Councillor John Durley, along with Mayor David Augustyn and CAO Darren Ottaway, attended the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Windsor. The AMO aims to support and enhance strong and effective municipal government in Ontario by promoting municipal interests to provincial and federal bodies. It also provides municipal officials with a chance to attend seminars, share ideas, and receive training in many aspects of municipal governance. Local representatives also use the conference as a way to leverage funding and promote projects within

their communities. Mayor Augustyn explained the importance of the event on the Town’s website. “AMO is an excellent opportunity for us to highlight Pelham’s strategic priorities and objectives to the Provincial Government,” he said. “We are grateful for the dialogue we had with key Ministers and decision-makers and feel confident that they will continue to work together with the Town on initiatives important to our residents and businesses.” One of the issues brought up by Pelham’s delegates was the protection for the Pelham Kame. Town representatives met with Kathryn McGarry, the Minister of Natural Resources and ForSee AMO Page 3
