Bikers gearing up for Biketoberfest event The largest bike event in Niagara begins on Friday, September 16 at 6:00 pm starting at the Original Clare’s Cycle on Regional Road 20. The kick off to Biketoberfest, Ride of the Flags, will leave Clare’s Cycle and proceed to Welland County Motorcycle Club (WCMC) Race Track where festivities will take place provided by Welland County Motorcycle Club. “All are welcome to attend Ride of the Flags and
the fun at WCMC Race Track at no charge,” says Bruce Bissell, event charman. WCMC has arranged to have both the flat track and the motocross track open for making practice runs. The food booth and the club house will both be open for food and refreshments. “You will also be able to get a ticket from the Fabulous Fenwick Lions for their 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic

The route for Ride of the Flags is: Maple Street to Canboro Road, left on Canboro to Effingham Street, right on Effingham Street to Welland Avenue, left on Welland Avenue to South Pelham Road, right on South Pelham to Webber Road, left on Webber Road to Price Charles Drive, right on Prince Charles Drive to Townline Road, left on
Townline Road to WCMC Race Track. “On Saturday, September 17, get on your bikes and ride out to Centennial Park, Church Street, Fenwick for Biketoberfest from 9 am to 6 pm.,” says Bissell. “The weather promises to be fantastic.” Bissell encourages folks to come early and have breakfast, check out the vendors and get last-minute tickets for the 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic which will
be drawn at 5 pm. Tickets are $20 each and all proceeds are going to Lions Foundation of Canada, Welland Hospital Foundation, Pelham Cares and Lions Community Projects. Enjoy the live entertainment by David & Jamie and More Bad News & the Horns From Hell. Also, people may enter their bikes in the Show & Shine event. And for those looking to sell their bikes, they can take advantage of the ‘For Sale’ Bike Coral.

“If that’s not enough, check out Canadian Heroes, a display for our Canadian troops, or take a look at the original super trike owned by Elvis Presley Sr. or his original costume from RCA and the first design prototype for a belt that was presented to Elvis by international casino owner Kirk Kokorian,” says Bissell. “There will be plenty of great food and refreshments, and a lot to see for everyone.”
