Biketoberfest BY WAYNE CAMPBELL for the VOICE

Biketoberfest will wed more than riders and machines this year. The Saturday, Sept. 21, gathering in Fenwick’s Centennial Park will see the wedding of a Welland couple during the afternoon. Fenwick Lions Club member Fred Disher, who is also a minister, will perform the afternoon ceremony. The 11th annual show and shine sponsored by the Fenwick Lions Club could draw as many as 12,000 this year, said organizer Bruce Bissell. “Last year we had about 8,000,” he said. “Indications are we will have more this year.” The event opens at 9 a.m. A highlight of the day of vendors, motorcycle show, food and entertainment is the raffle of a new motorcycle. This year it is a Harley-Davidson CVO UltraClassic ElectraGlide. Second prize is $1,000 and third $500. Tickets are $20 each. The draw is at 6 p.m. Entertainment is provided by country singer Wendy Snider from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and, More Bad News and Horns From Hell at 2:30 p.m. Over the years, the service club has raised $370,000 through Biketoberfest. The money is used for Lions community projects, Lions International charities, and this year the Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation. See Biketoberfest (Page 3)
