The Meeting House – a call for ideas
At the start of this year Sydney Community Services merged with The Meeting House and took on the lease of the Centre at Stokes Street in Lane Cove North with Lane Cove Council.
Over the past 60 years Sydney Community Services (originally Lane Cove and North Side Community Services and Hunters Hill and Ryde Community Services) has been funded to provide services and activities for seniors and people with a disability. The Meeting House has always had a broader community focus in that it has provided for families, children, and everyone in between.
Having received a grant through Trent Zimmerman’s office from the Commonwealth Government’s Stronger Communities Program, the funds are now available to refresh the Stokes Street building to make it more attractive and improve the facilities available to the community.
SCS would like to know what the community wants from the building. Currently it runs two playgroups, activities like crochet, cooking classes and women’s discussion groups during the day and a shopping bus and bus outings for seniors. The building has a large meeting room and a lovely outdoor area with a BBQ and garden area.
SCS is seeking your opinions, views and comments on how you think the space could be best used, and what activities you’d like to see run there whether during the day, the evening or at the weekends. Please write to Gillian Batt, Sydney Community Services at: 1 Pottery Lane, Lane Cove NSW 2066 or email gbatt@sydneycs.org
PERIN LEGAL LANE COVE
Perin Legal, a boutique law practice specialising in Children’s Law, Criminal/Traffic Law and Family Law with a focus on representing and defending children, young people and families.
ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL
Prior to entering the legal profession, I worked as a high school teacher with at-risk students and their families. This experience furnished me with valuable insights into the complex home environments in which many children, young people and families co-exist. I came to understand and respect the difficulties and tensions they face, which sometimes results in the breakdown of the family unit or requires the intervention of the Police.
LEGAL EXPERIENCE
Since my admission I have worked for a variety of private practices. I gained a reputation for being a fearless and passionate lawyer due to my successful representation of people across a range of matters at the Children’s Court, Local Court, District Court, Family Court, Federal Circuit Court, Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia. Through such achievements, I have developed a strong and respectful working relationship with a formidable team of barristers and medical professionals, affording my clients the best possible representations if warranted.
A lawyer who consistently acts in your best interests. PRINCIPAL: Gloria Perin

THREE VALUES UNDERPIN MY APPROACH: 1. Each client’s matter is treated with confidentiality and managed with diligence and respect. 2. Clear and consistent communication is guaranteed.
All enquiries are answered within 24 hours. 3. We offer legal services that deliver realistic, practicable outcomes on a fixed costs basis. Only family law hearings or defence trials are charged differently.

WHY NOW IS A GREAT TIME TO SELL
With lockdown restrictions having slowly been eased, most of us still have more time at home. That’s why now is a great time to prepare to sell your home. With the property market tipped to start gaining momentum soon, it’s important to have your property ready for interested buyers. According to industry researcher, Core Logic, house prices around the country have not plummeted, despite the number of transactions that took place during the CoVid-19 lock-down. There were sellers who pulled their properties off the market, and are likely to consider re-listing them in the coming months, so it’s important that you ensure your property stands out from the competition. My first open for inspection in early January had over 50 groups through the property. Attendance has continued to be very extremely high at each open for inspection, at every property, since then. With interest rates at an all time low and an abundance of buyers searching for their dream home, it . makes sense to start planning now.
