Mortgage Choices

Starting to think about end of financial year tax deductions?

If so, it may be worth considering paying interest in advance, prior to June 30, on any investment loans you have. Stephanie Cook, principal of Mortgage Choice Lane Cove, says that “at about this time of year, investors and their accountants are thinking about how they may be able to reduce the amount of tax payable for the year by looking for legitimate deductions. One common strategy is to pay a full twelve months interest in advance on any investment loans. Depending on your individual financial situation this can mean a substantial refund right at the beginning of the new tax year. It is important that people thoroughly understand the advantages and disadvantages before they make a commitment to enter into any new loan agreement. That’s one reason why the Mortgage Choice service works so well. We spend time going through what lending requirements you have, matching this to our lenders’ policies and comparing the various interest rates, fees and charges, and flexibility of the different loans on offer.” As your local mortgage professional with more than 20 years industry experience, Stephanie says “the main benefit of using our service comes down to saving you time, money and effort. Best of all, Mortgage Choice does not charge you for this service.”

Fast fashion and cheap clothing today has resulted in the average consumer buying 60% more clothes and wearing them fewer times - sometimes not at all, and keeping them for only about half as long as 15 years ago. Our society discards a huge volume of clothes which often end up in incinerators or landfills only within a

Doubling the life of clothing from 1 year to 2 years reduces greenhouse gas emissions over the year by 24%.

Somewhere between 500 billion and 1 trillion plastic bags are used each year around the world. While each plastic bag is only used for an average of about 12 minutes it remains in landfills, oceans and other places for hundreds of years.

In oceans, plastic bags get consumed by hundreds of different species of marine life, which can harm them. It has consequences on us too; as much as 25% of the fish in markets has been found to contain plastic in their abdomen.

Discarded clothing and plastic is a huge waste of all of the resources in these products but it creates yet more pollution, through emissions of hazardous chemicals and greenhouse gases from incinerator stacks or landfills.
