KIDS AND COVID VACCINES by Sarah L. (4B) People 12 and up have been able to get the COVID vaccine for a while, but the COVID vaccine is now available for kids between 5 and 10! The Villa grade kids that can get the vaccine are kindergarten (as long as they're 5) through 8th grade. Seattle Children's Hospital is one place these kids can get their vaccines. For more information, visit Seattle Children's COVID-19 vaccination website. Source: Seattle Children’s

CRAFTING CORNER by Marlow D. (5B)

Here's a fun and easy craft I made, so I decided to add it to the Villa Times!

How to Make a Stuffed Animal Turkey! Instructions Step 1: Get dark brown, red/pink, green and yellow fabrics, 2 googley eyes, needle and thread or a hot glue gun. Felt works really good for this. Step 2: Look at these pictures and cut out shapes from fabrics like this. Glue then together with a hot glue or sew them together. Step 3: Now put the googley eyes one the beak and the gobble, the wings, and the feet with the hot glue gun.

Fun Facts about Turkeys A baby turkey is called a poult (rhymes with bolt). Turkeys can run up to 25 miles per hour! A turkey’s gender can found out by its droppings! Males produce spiral-shaped poop and females' poop is shaped like the letter J. Source: Smithsonian Magazine

Wanna Play? Fun game recommendations from Villa Times Staff The Holidays are coming up and playing games is fun to do during breaks. Below are favorite games suggested by The Villa Times writers:

Tim The Game of Life (8+): "It's fun, I like the strategy and how it follows the story of life. Pan Am World Airlines Board Game (12+): "It's a fun strategy board game. You build an airline empire and try to take over the other player's airlines."

Marlow Yatzee (8+): "There are lots of dice and it's fun to keep track of them all." Uno (7+) : "I like it because I'm good at it."

Sarah Phase 10 (7+): "My family and I do play a lot, instead of rounds there are phases and each phase has a different goal." Monopoly Jr. Arcade (5+) "It's fun to get money, lose money, buy things. It's actually kind of how life really is." Five Crowns (8+): "There are five suites instead of four like usual cards. I like the Star suit. It's a fast game." Made-up board games: "I made up a game called "Late for Dinner" where you try to get from your bedroom, to another room, and then try to get to dinner."

Samantha Monopoly (8+) "It's fun to go around and buy the places and it's kind of like real life." Ticket To Ride (8+) "It's fun, it's competitive. I like making long trains." Skull King (8+) "It's a pirate game. You get to save things and hide them from other pirates."

Claire Cards We like lots of card games with usual cards, like Kings in the Corner, kinds of like an old-fashion card game, War, Smoke or Fire (a guessing game)

Ms. Alessi: Quiddler (8+) "It's a really fun, short-word spelling card game." Telestrations (12+) "It's like telephone but with drawing and it gets really funny. Machi Koro (10+) "It's a very strategic, resource-managment game."

The Rich Platypus A weird poem by Tim H. (7A) Image Courtesy of Mental Floss

A rich platypus stands On the top of a hill He swims in his money That he got from aunt Jill

Meanwhile the common buzzard sits On the top of a tree He is feared by many Nobody could disagree

The rich platypus decides To go to the site Of an excavation In the middle of the night

He finds something He sees what he has discovered But its too late He is food for the common buzzard
