DEAR FRIENDS Welcome to The Venice Symphony’s 2019-20 concert season at the Venice Performing Arts Center. This dynamic program is filled with works that will excite loyal Symphony fans and those just discovering the wonders of symphonic music. Every piece will come alive when performed by the exceptional musicians of The Venice Symphony. We open with two “rock star” works, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. In December, Sarasota’s Key Chorale will be our guest for our Holiday Pops (with a twist). Our orchestra will transport you across the universe with music from Star Trek and Star Wars and back to the days of Romeo and Juliet, with works by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. We will shake (not stir) things up with six decades of unforgettable music from the James Bond movies and celebrate John Williams who created the greatest film scores of our time.
In March, we are thrilled to bring you Broadway star Linda Eder for an extraordinary concert of songs from the stage and screen. Linda has been called “one of the greatest voices of our time” and sells out performances all over the country. Once you hear her sing, you will never forget her. To make your visit to The Venice Symphony even more memorable, there will be video montages, visual effects and special events throughout the season. Come join me to experience this season of music and adventure.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR As Executive Director of The Venice Symphony, one of my favorite things to do is to watch our patrons after a concert. This past season, you left the hall, uplifted, moved and in awe of the performances by our outstanding musicians, led by our new Music Director Troy Quinn. Many of you stopped to tell me that you had an “amazing experience,” “The orchestra never sounded better,” and “We could have been in New York or Chicago.”
We know that once you look over this season’s program, you will want to attend every concert, and that you will understand the moderate increase in ticket prices this season. The Venice Symphony will always offer a variety of packages, ticket options and discounts to provide you with the finest seats at the greatest value. We do not want you to miss a minute of what is sure to be an extraordinary and unforgettable concert season.
The Venice Symphony has undeniably entered a new era. In our 46th year in Venice, we are redefining what it means to “go to The Symphony” while staying true to our commitment to present the highest caliber of symphonic music in Sarasota County. Troy Quinn’s visionary “Season for All” will celebrate the joy and breadth of that music, promising to thrill our audience and challenge our orchestra.
