Academic Success academicskills@winchester.ac.uk We support students from all levels and disciplines to reach their full academic potential. Through one-to-one appointments, group webinars and a wide range of resources, our aim is to boost students’ academic performance to help improve self-esteem and employability. Student Journey studentsupport@winchester.ac.uk Our team of advisors and coordinators are often your first point of contact. We offer advice, guidance, and support to all students on a wide range of issues, which may affect your personal or academic life, including:
• General worries and stress • Difficulties settling or fitting in • Family and friendship issues • Pregnancy, becoming a parent and childcare • Housing issues including homelessness • Bullying and harassment • Other traumatic events such as bereavement, domestic abuse and sexual misconduct
Student Support and Retention Advisors (SaRAs) SaRA@winchester.ac.uk
These roles work closely with academic and programme administration colleagues to support retention, progression and student success. SaRAs provide guidance and supportive interventions where students experience challenges to study, engagement or wellbeing.
Widening Participation wp@winchester.ac.uk We recognise that some groups of students may be less likely to access, succeed or progress in higher education. We provide tailored outreach and support for students from a wide range of backgrounds including, but not limited to: • Asylum seekers and refugees • Care-experienced and care leavers • Carers • Estranged students • Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boaters (GTRSB) • Students from military family backgrounds
