Parking
You can book an on-campus parking permit at the point of booking onto the event online. If there is no option to book parking, that means all of our permits have been allocated and we cannot offer any more due to spacing. If you have not been allocated a permit, please refer to ‘City Centre Parking’ or ‘Park & Ride’.
If you have been sent a parking permit from the university, please park at the Hospital Car Park, the Dytche Car Park, or Medecroft Car Park, as detailed on the map (on page 17).
If you require an Accessible Permit or have a Blue Badge, please liaise with the Open Days team before the event for specific parking instructions.
City Centre Parking
If you have not been allocated an on-campus parking permit, or are looking to park in the city, we would suggest utilising Tower Street Car Park (SO23 8TA). This is a 15 minute walk from the University.
Park & Ride/Bus Stop
Please make sure to get off at the Royal County Hospital stop, as this sits between both West Downs and King Alfred Quarters.
By Train
Both Quarters are approximately a 15 minute walk from Winchester Train Station.

King Alfred Quarter to City Centre Approx. 10 minute walk, downhill.
King Alfred Quarter to Bar End Sport & Leisure Park Approx. 30 minute walk.
Minibus Shuttle Routes
We have a variety of bus routes running throughout the day. The details of where these mini buses will run are below. These fill up on a first come first served basis so you may have to wait in a short queue, but we will do everything we can to keep wait times to a minimum. You can get on and off at any point on the loop.
ROUTE A (9.30am-1pm)
Winchester Train Station > King Alfred Quarter Main Reception > Queens Road Student Village > West Downs >Town Centre Route A will run approx. every 30 minutes.
ROUTE B (9am-1pm)
King Alfred Quarter > Main Reception > West Downs Route B will run throughout the event on demand.
ROUTE C (12.30pm)
King Alfred Quarter Main Reception > West Downs > Winchester Sport and Leisure Park Route C will run at 12.30pm only

Today is all about you having the opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to become a student at the University of Winchester. Throughout the morning you will have the opportunity to meet colleagues teaching on our courses and our academic and student support teams, as well as hearing from current students about their experience. I encourage you to be inquisitive and find out more about our excellent courses and the wider opportunities you will have as a student here. You will also have the chance to visit our excellent facilities, tour our award-winning accommodation and take in our beautiful campus.

CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION FROM 9.15am
Please ensure you check in promptly upon arrival. Registration points for this event are located at King Alfred Foodhall (number 12 on your map) and West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map). Quiet registration can be found in The Boardroom (number 12 on your map).
Our friendly staff and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to assist you. They will scan the QR code sent to you via email or check you in using the name you registered with.
Don’t forget to collect your exclusive University of Winchester goodie bag, along with a copy of the event programme and University prospectus.
2 JOIN THE WELCOME SESSION
Once you’ve picked up your programme, take a moment to plan out your visit. We recommend starting with a Welcome Talk to get an overview of the day and what the University has to offer. After that, feel free to explore the campus and dive deeper into the courses and areas that interest you most.
3 ATTEND A COURSE TALK
Course Talks run throughout the day and offer a fantastic opportunity to meet our lecturers, explore the course content in more detail, and get a real sense of what it’s like to study at Winchester. The time of your Course Talk can be found in the table on pages 4 - 6.

EXPLORE THE CAMPUS AND ACCOMMODATION
Join one of our guided campus tours to explore the University and its facilities. You’ll also have the chance to visit our student villages and get a real sense of what it’s like to live on campus.

Welcome Talk Meet members of our Leadership Team, as well as current students, as you find out more about the University of Winchester. This talk is approximately 40 minutes.
Course Talks Talks will last approximately 25 minutes with time for questions. Please check pages 5-7 for further information.
Personal Statement Clinic
We know writing a Personal Statement when applying to university can be overwhelming. Drop into our clinic to speak to one of our Schools and Colleges Team who will give you advice and tips on how to write a great Personal Statement.

Sacred
spaces
Across our campus, we have many sacred spaces for prayers, meditation and contemplation that are open to visit during this Open Morning.
The Chapel (number 6 on your map) is a RIBA award winning restored building in the middle of King Alfred Quarter. The Muslim Prayer room is located in Winchester Business School (number 26 on the map) in the West Downs Quarter. When you have finished your day here at the University of Winchester, why don’t you head down to the city centre? It is a 10-15 minute walk from campus and boasts an array of eateries, shops, entertainment, culture and history.
Christmas market (open 10am-8pm
Saturdays)
Make the most of your time in Winchester with a trip to the Christmas Market, held within the breathtaking grounds of Winchester cathedral. Enjoy browsing stalls for unique Christmas gifts, delicious snacks and festive drinks
To get to the market, either walk or use our minibus service to drop you in the city centre. Please note the minibus service will run until 1pm.
If you would like to be guided to the city centre and Christmas market, please meet at King Alfred Campus reception at 1pm.
Our sport and fitness facilities
We encourage you to visit Winchester’s excellent sports facilities, including the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park and the University’s Sports Stadium, both located at Bar End in Winchester City Centre, a 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive from campus.
The Winchester Sport and Leisure Park boasts a 50m pool, 200 station fitness suite, studios, and an eight-court sports hall. Our university Sports Stadium offers a floodlit competition standard eight-lane athletics track and all-weather pitches. Both facilities are home to some of our Sports courses and the Winchester Students’ Union sports teams. Please note Mini Bus tours of the Winchester Sport and leisure park will leave at 12.30pm (see page 1 for details).

Our vibrant Queen’s Road Student Village consists of 399 en suite rooms arranged in flats of four to eight rooms, with shared kitchens. There are also 24 single occupancy premium rooms which have a larger bedroom space and a double bed.

Located behind the Winchester Business School and our new West Downs Centre, there are over 650 bedrooms in houses of six to eight rooms. There is a mixture of en suite and shared facilities.

Burma Road consists of 408 en suite rooms arranged in flats of six to eight with shared kitchens. We also have two one-bedroom family flats, and six bedrooms (and kitchens) adapted for wheelchair users
