Parking
Parking permits are pre-booked when you book on to the event. If you have a parking permit, please park at the Hospital Car Park, the Dytche Car Park, or Medecroft Car Park, as detailed on the map (on page 17).
If you require an Accessible Permit or have a Blue Badge, please liaise with the Open Days team before the event for specific parking instructions.
City Centre Parking
If you do not have an on-campus parking permit, or are looking to park in the city, we would suggest utilising Tower Street Car Park (SO23 8TA). This is a 15 minute walk from the University.
Park & Ride/Bus Stop
Please make sure to get off at the Royal County Hospital stop, as this sits between both West Downs and King Alfred Quarters.
By Train
Both Quarters are approximately a 15 minute walk from Winchester Train Station.

Minibus Shuttle Routes
We have a variety of bus routes running throughout the day. The details of where these mini buses will run are below. These fill up on a first come first served basis so you may have to wait in a short queue, but we will do everything we can to keep wait times to a minimum. You can get on and off at any point on the loop.

Accessible Minibus
One our of minibuses has dedicated space for an electric wheelchair. If you would like to use this minibus to get between campuses, please head to King Alfred Reception (number 12 on the map) or West Downs Reception (number 28 on the map).
Please make sure to head to reception with plenty of time as the bus will have to be called, and may have to finish running a loop.

Today is all about you having the opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to become a student at the University of Winchester. Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to meet colleagues teaching on our courses and our academic and student support teams, as well as hearing from current students about their experience. I encourage you to be inquisitive and find out more about our excellent courses and the wider opportunities you will have as a student here. You will also have the chance to visit our excellent facilities, tour our award-winning accommodation and take in our beautiful campus.

CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION FROM 9.15am
Please ensure you check in promptly upon arrival. Registration points for this event are located at: The Dytche Car Park (for location see map at the back), Medecroft Car Park (number 15 on the map) King Alfred Reception (number 12 on the map). and West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map). Quiet registration can be found in The Boardroom (number 12 on your map).
Our friendly staff and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to assist you. They will scan the QR code sent to you via email or check you in using the name you registered with.
Don’t forget to collect your exclusive University of Winchester goodie bag, along with a copy of the event programme and University prospectus.

Join one of our guided campus tours to explore the University and its facilities. You’ll also have the chance to visit our student villages and get a real sense of what it’s like to live on campus.

DBS Talk
This talk will walk you through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application procedures, helping you understand how to obtain a DBS check efficiently. Whether you're applying to a course in education, healthcare, or any placement involving vulnerable groups, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge to navigate the process smoothly.
We know writing a Personal Statement when applying to university can be overwhelming. Speak to one of our Schools and Colleges Team who will give you advice and tips on how to write a great Personal Statement.

Visiting the Faculty Hubs is your opportunity to have in-depth conversations with academic staff, ask questions about course content, assessments, and career opportunities, and gain a clearer understanding of what it’s like to study your subject at Winchester.
Some courses offer tours of their specialist facilities following the Course Talk. You’ll be informed during the talk if a tour is available for your subject. These tours are a great opportunity to see the specialist spaces where you’ll study and engage with hands-on learning.

Sacred spaces
Across our campus, we have many sacred spaces for prayers, meditation and contemplation that are open to visit during this Open Day.
The Chapel (number 6 on your map) is a RIBA award winning restored building in the middle of King Alfred Quarter. The Muslim Prayer room is located in Winchester Business School (number 26 on the map) in the West Downs Quarter. Our Contemplation Space (pictured) is found at the West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map) and plays host to personal meditation pods and a contemplative centre. Quiet Spaces
Quiet registration can be found in the Boardroom (number 12 on your map) If you wish to discuss your support requirements with a member of the Disability and Inclusion Team please visit them at the Advise Fair, or email disability@winchester.ac.uk.
Accommodation
We offer a range of high-quality on-campus accommodation. These benefit from having access to our 24/7 security team, unlimited WiFi, utility bills included and a dedicated cleaning team for all communal facilities.

Our vibrant Queen’s Road Student Village consists of 399 en suite rooms arranged in flats of four to eight rooms, with shared kitchens. There are also 24 single occupancy premium rooms which have a larger bedroom space and a double bed.

Located behind the Winchester Business School and our new West Downs Centre, there are over 650 bedrooms in houses of six to eight rooms. There is a mixture of en suite and shared facilities.

Burma Road consists of 408 en suite rooms arranged in flats of six to eight with shared kitchens. We also have two one-bedroom family flats, and six bedrooms (and kitchens) adapted for wheelchair users.

When you have finished your day here at the University of Winchester, why don’t you head down to the city centre? It is a 10-15 minute walk from campus and boasts an array of eateries, shops, entertainment, culture and history.

Sport and fitness facilities
We encourage you to visit Winchester’s excellent sports facilities, including the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park and the University’s Sports Stadium, both located at Bar End in Winchester City Centre, a 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive from campus.



The Winchester Sport and Leisure Park boasts a 50m pool, 200 station fitness suite, studios, and an eight-court sports hall. Our university Sports Stadium offers a floodlit competition standard eight-lane athletics track and all-weather pitches. Both facilities are home to some of our Sports courses and the Winchester Students’ Union sports teams.
On campus, we have a fully-equipped gym, fitness suite, sports hall and multi-use games area.
