We are so pleased to have you visit us today for our Open Afternoon.
Today is all about you having the opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to become a student at the University of Winchester. All of us here at Winchester are driven by our mission to provide a transformational educational experience for our students that sets them up for success in life. Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to meet colleagues teaching on our courses and our academic and student support teams, as well as hearing from current students about their experience. I encourage you to be inquisitive and find out more about our excellent courses and the wider opportunities you will have as a student here. You will also have the chance to visit our excellent facilities, tour our award-winning accommodation and take in our beautiful campus.

1 CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION FROM 12pm
Please ensure you check in promptly upon arrival. Registration points for this event are located at: The Stripe Plaza (number 25 on your map) and West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map). Quiet registration can be found in The Learning Cafe (number 12 on your map).
Our friendly staff and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to assist you. They will scan the QR code sent to you via email or check you in using the name you registered with.
Don’t forget to collect your exclusive University of Winchester goodie bag, along with a copy of the event programme and University prospectus.
2 JOIN THE WELCOME SESSION
Once you’ve picked up your programme, take a moment to plan out your visit. We recommend starting with a Welcome Talk to get an overview of the day and what the University has to offer. After that, feel free to explore the campus and dive deeper into the courses and areas that interest you most.

Course Talks run throughout the day and offer a fantastic opportunity to meet our lecturers, explore the course content in more detail, and get a real sense of what it’s like to study at Winchester.

Join one of our guided campus tours to explore the University and its facilities. You’ll also have the chance to visit our student villages and get a real sense of what it’s like to live on campus.

Talks
Welcome Talk Meet members of our Leadership Team, as well as current students, as you find out more about the University of Winchester. This talk is approximately 40 minutes.
Course Talks Talks will last approximately 25 minutes with time for questions. Please check pages 5-7 for further information.
Student Life Talk Delivered by one of our own Student Ambassadors, find out what student life is really like at university.
DBS Talk This talk will walk you through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application procedures, helping you understand how to obtain a DBS check efficiently. Whether you're applying to a course in education, healthcare, or any placement involving vulnerable groups, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge to navigate the process smoothly.
Personal Statement Clinic
We know writing a Personal Statement when applying to university can be overwhelming. Drop into our clinic to speak to one of our Schools and Colleges who will give you advice and tips on how to write a great Personal Statement.

Campus Tour Join a tour of our beautiful campus to look at the facilities Winchester has to offer. They are led by a current student and take approximately 1-1.5 hours.

Parking
As detailed in pre-event communication, there is no on campus parking available for this event, unless for those with Accessibility/Disability needs. If you need to park on campus for Accessible/Disability needs, we suggest liaising with the Open Day team before arrival to be given specific parking instructions.

Please make sure to get off at the Royal County Hospital stop, as this sits between both West Downs and King Alfred Quarters.

Sacred spaces
Across our campus, we have many sacred spaces for prayers, meditation and contemplation that are open to visit during this Open Day.
The Chapel (number 6 on your map) is a RIBA award winning restored building in the middle of King Alfred Quarter. The Muslim Prayer room is located in the Winchester Business School building (number 26 on the map) in the West Downs Quarter. Our Contemplation Space (pictured) is found at the West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map) and plays host to personal meditation pods and a contemplative centre. For more information on further sacred spaces, search for ‘Sacred Spaces’ on our website.
Accommodation
We offer a range of high-quality on-campus accommodation. These benefit from having access to our 24/7 security team, unlimited WiFi, utility bills included and a dedicated cleaning team for all communal facilities.

Our vibrant Queen’s Road Student Village consists of 399 en suite rooms arranged in flats of four to eight rooms, with shared kitchens. There are also 24 single occupancy premium rooms which have a larger bedroom space and a double bed.
St Elizabeth’s Hall, Beech Glade, Cathedral Point, and Riverside Way*
There are also on and off campus accommodation options available. To find out more information about other accommodation offered at the University of Winchester, speak to Housing in the Advice Fair.

West Downs Student Village (pictured top right) Number 29 on your map.
Located behind the Winchester Business School and our new West Downs Centre, there are over 650 bedrooms in houses of six to eight rooms. There is a mixture of en suite and shared facilities.
Burma Road Student Village Number 4 on your map.
Burma Road consists of 408 en suite rooms arranged in flats of six to eight with shared kitchens. We also have two one-bedroom family flats, and six bedrooms (and kitchens) adapted for wheelchair users.
Visit the City
When you have finished your day here at the University of Winchester, why don’t you head down to the city centre? It is a 10-15 minute walk from campus and boasts an array of eateries, shops, entertainment, culture and history.

Sport and fitness facilities
We encourage you to visit Winchester’s excellent sports facilities, including the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park and the University’s Sports Stadium, both located at Bar End in Winchester City Centre, a 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive from campus.
The Winchester Sport and Leisure Park boasts a 50m pool, 200 station fitness suite, studios, and an eight-court sports hall. Our university Sports Stadium offers a floodlit competition standard eight-lane athletics track and all-weather pitches. Both facilities are home to some of our Sports courses and the Winchester Students’ Union sports teams. Tours are not available at this Open Day.
