Viva Las Vegas! By: Kaleigh Timmons and Madelyn Ronan August 3rd-5th, our BAP President, Kaleigh Timmons, Vice President, Madelyn Ronan, and Faculty Advisor, Dr. Amanda Marcy, traveled to sunny Las Vegas, Nevada for the BAP Annual Meeting, Reimagining the Path Forward. On the first day, we all participated in Community Impact Day, sponsored by KPMG U.S. Foundation, Inc., KPMG LLP – University Talent Acquisition, and BAP, in collaboration with the non-profit social enterprises United Way of Southern Nevada, The Pack Shack, Back 2 School America, and First Book. We took part in The Pack Shack’s Feed the Funnel Party. Along with more than 500 other meeting attendees, we donned gloves and hairnets and packed more than 125,000 meals for under-served communities in Las Vegas, local food banks, and the food resource centers at local college campuses – to help combat food insecurity that exists amongst college students. This was a great opportunity to serve the community while getting to know the members of other BAP chapters across the country. After that event, we headed out for some lunch at Wahlburgers and explored the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. We returned to the conference for the Opening Plenary Session and heard from the Keynote Speaker, Anthony Pugliese, CIA, CPA, CGMA, CITP, President and CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors. We then completed a “Becoming a Professional” Leadership Session with members from other chapters. The night ended with a Networking Reception where we met with different firms, organizations, and exhibitors. Following the session, we hit up the two-story Taco Bell Cantina at the heart of the Vegas strip, showcasing a VIP lounge and a DJ booth.
