A PROMINENT QC has been blasted for failing to disclose his “conflict of interest” over a real estate transaction involving a “sometime client” serving a 15-year prison sentence. The Court of Appeal found Elliot Lockhart QC had failed to inform Clifford Dean, who had
been convicted of “drug offences”, that he was also the president, director and a beneficial owner of the company seeking to acquire the latter’s real estate in a $250,000 deal. IN the the fifth policeinvolved killing in a month, police shot and killed a man Friday after he allegedly opened fire at them. During the man’s attempt to evade apprehension, police said, he collided into a vehicle, exited his car and fired a shot in the direction of the officers. “Officers being in fear for their lives returned fire,” Assistant Commissioner Clayton Fernander said. “The individual ran a short distance where he collapsed. THE Department of Immigration is “tightening up” its efforts in the capital and on the Family Islands after receiving information that more migrant sloops “are on the way,” according to Kirklyn Neely, head of the department’s Enforcement Unit. In a recent interview with The Tribune, Mr Neely said 114 illegal migrants, who were captured in the past few days, will be repatriated to Haiti today. “We got some information that more boats are on the way, so we have to be prepared for that,” Mr Neely said.
