Funeral Service For Lourdes Limcaco
Tolentino Percentie, 63
passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Lake Worth, FL. She was born in Manila, Philippines on February 8, 1959. In 1970, she moved with her family from the Philippines to the Boston, Massachusetts area. She attended Duke and Northeastern Universities for undergraduate education, furthered her education at George Washington and George Mason Universities in pursuit of a graduate business degree, and received a Master’s in Management of Technology from MIT in 1999.
A longtime resident of Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas, she is credited as being one of the IT pioneers on Grand Bahama when the Computer Service and Training computer school (CST) was opened. Most government officials, the Grand Bahama Port Authority and private businesses on the island got their initial personal computer training at CST. Silently, Lourdes assisted and played a fundamental role in the operations of charities on Grand Bahama, especially the Northern Bahamas Council For Disability.
After graduating from MIT, she continued her entrepreneurial career with a Japanese software localization startup Boston Investek. In 2002, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and a poor prognosis of survival. The disease resulted in her being severely disabled with limited movement. Despite the pain and suffering, Lourdes did her very best to maintain her obligations on Grand Bahama but was ultimately forced to relocate permanently back to the United States as treatment and medicines were inadequate or unavailable in the Bahamas. Being disabled, Lourdes dedicated the last several years of her life assisting international charities. However her main charity was the Parkinson Foundation where efforts are being made to find a cure or treatment for Parkinson’s Disease. She will be remembered for her willingness to help others, her faith and optimism through adversity, and her tenacity and will.
She is survived by her husband: Dr. Leatendore Percentie; son: Ferdinand; daughter: Amelia; father: Dr. Felipe Tolentino; mother: (predeceased) Flora Limcaco Tolentino; brothers: Philip Tolentino and wife Karen Hulbert, Michael Tolentino and wife Agnes Tolentino; brothers-in-law: Johnny Percentie and wife Ila Percentie, Humphrey Percentie, Elvis Percentie Sr. Martin Percentie; sisters-in-law: Paulette Ferguson, Barbara-Jean Percentie, Valerie Percentie, Nancy Percentie, Karen Catalyn, Juanita Percentie; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives especially: the Percentie Clan of Harbour Island, the descendants of the original Percentie family (all predeceased) Herman, Henty, Duke, Anthony, Humphrey, Anna and Olga, her California family, the Philippines family that are too numerous to mention; special mention of the honorary adoption of Pastor Dr. Matheo Smith of Nassau and Carolyn Moss of Eight Mile Rock and the Grand Bahama community.
In lieu of flowers, well-wishers are directed to make donations to the Parkinson Foundation.

Life Changers’ leader is consecrated as bishop
By FELICITY DARVILLE
THE head of Life Changers Ministries International, Valentino Williams, has officially been ordained as bishop. His role places him not only at the head of his church, but also at the head of King dom Covenant Fellowship, a movement which aims to create strong and healthy churches, ministries and organisationsfirst in the region and then the world.
A Sacred Episcopal Consecration ser vice was held to mark the occasion on Tuesday, November 29. Bishop Neil C Ellis was the chief consecrator.
Life Changers Ministries International on Bacardi Road continues to grow by leaps and bounds since its inception in 2003. People from throughout New Prov idence flock to the church to hear Bishop Williams’ sermons and be touched by the love and hospitality of his wife, Pastor Dr Cleopatra Williams, and the Life Chang ers family.
Bishop Williams was first ordained as a pastor on September 23, 2003. Life Changers Ministries International started in a storefront on Pitt Road. By May of 2008, the church moved to Bacardi Road. There, faithful followers worshipped under a tent for 13 months. They gladly welcomed their first structure in June of 2009. It was a 3,000 square foot edifice, where they carried out weekly services for seven years. The church continued to grow in popularity, attracting young people, families and people from various backgrounds until the building had to be expanded. From 2016 to the present, Life Changers has operated out of a massive 21,000 square foot building which serves as a multipurpose facility.
“God honours faithfulness, because faithfulness honors God,” said Bishop Williams.
“One of my guiding philosophies of ministry is that we should be faithful over what God has entrusted to our care. I’ve seen God bless me over the years at every stage of my ministry because of faithfulness. The core values of our church are faith, empowerment, excel lence and integrity.”
Bishop Williams is the son of Kirk Williams and Sharel Maura. He gradu ated from St Augustine’s College before he studied at Murray State University in Kentucky. He returned home to work in his father’s business, Carpet World, before he eventually found his calling in spiritual leadership.
In addition to leading Life Chang ers and Kingdom Covenant Fellowship, Bishop Williams is also the author of two books: “Go Big or Go Home: Living Beyond the Limits” and “Take the Lead”.
Congratulatory remarks came in from
pastors from throughout the country, including Apostle Delton D Fernander of the Bahamas Christian Council.
“This call God had on my life began 29 years ago, in April of 1993,” said Bishop Williams.
“I was called to impact my generation and bring souls into the Kingdom of God. That has been my life’s mission from then until now. Over the past 29 years, I have helped countless people find their pur pose, build their faith and maximise their life’s potential. Being consecrated to the office of Bishop increases my ability to reach, impact and influence my genera tion. Moving forward, I intend to remain focused on advancing the agenda of the kingdom of God and living a life pleasing unto God.”

ST AMBROSE ANGLICAN CHURCH HOLDS MASSIVE PATRONAL FESTIVAL
By REV FR CHESTER BURTON
ST AMBROSE Anglican Church, which sits on the intersection of Car michael and Gladstone Roads, was a beehive of activity last Sunday afternoon as they congregation celebrated their first patronal festival since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is the only Angli can church in the Diocese that bears the name of St Ambrose.
With throngs of members and visitors assembled, it was time for the solemn sung evensong sermon and benediction to begin.
Retired Archdeacon James Palacious, who assists at St Ambrose, was the officiant during the first part of this ancient liturgical rite. The preacher for this grand celebration was Rev Deacon Cameron Simeon Adriel Saunders, whose spiritual navel string is buried within the confines of the church. Deacon Saunders is also the assistant
at Holy Cross Anglican Church in High bury Park whose rector is Canon Peter Scott.
Rev Deacon Saunders’ father, Rev Colin Saunders, was the first rector of St Ambrose.
Rev Deacon Saunders took his text from Matthew 13:23, where Jesus states, “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it and it grows inside of them. This is the only seed in the parable which produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Rev Saunders posited that Jesus in this parable tells the gathering about the Parable of the Sower. Jesus asserts that the sower of the seed implants the seed in four distinctive surfaces, each surface yielding different results. However, the seed that fell on good soil produced pro lific results.
Rev Saunders also spoke about how Ambrose of Milan (venerated as Saint Ambrose) was a wonderful bishop and
servant saint of the Church. He retold the childhood fable of Ms Chicken and Mr Pig who are walking home from church and are discussing their donation to a grandiose church function.
Ms Chicken brags that she will produce enough eggs for the entire church func tion. On the other hand, Mr Pig looks down at the ground and in a sorrowful voice tells the chicken that her eggs are an easy task. He, however, must give his all if it is going to be a tasty and sump tuous breakfast consisting of ham, bacon and eggs.
Deacon Saunders referred to St Ambrose as a “piggy” Christian leader because he gave his all for the
advancement of God’s kingdom during his earthly life. He was described by many as a rhetorical genius. He defended the early Church against Arianism and was one the lead proponents for the advance ment of the Nicene Creed in 325 AD. The Nicene Creed is a creed professed in the Anglican Eucharist which simply states the divinity of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Three individuals undi vided in splendour and deity). He is also credited with baptising St Augustine of Hippo, who was born into a pagan family.
Rev Saunders said that although he came from an affluent family, Ambrose led a humble lifestyle. He only dined sumptuously on Sundays.
St Ambrose is considered a master mind theologian who converted many biblical writings to Latin, allowing the word of God to be spread more openly and freely.
Rev Saunders reminded the congrega tion that, “God does not put on us more than we can bear, and as we traverse this earthly just like St Ambrose, God will ameliorate our fears and turn them into joys and celebrations”.
In conclusion, he told the congregation that in these last days with which we are faced there will be many unpredictable things happening, so let us collectively roll up our proverbial sleeves and get busy working for God and using God’s given gifts of time, talents and treasures.
Also in attendance at this service were the newly installed Archdeacon Dwight Rolle, Rector of Christ the King and Archdeacon for the West Central Bahamas; retired Archdeacon G King sley Knowles; Father Andrew Toppin, Rector of St James Adelaide; Father Bradley Miller, Rector of All Saints Joan’s Heights, and Rev Desiree John son, curate at Christ the King Ridgeland Park.

Churches come together for pre-Christmas give-back
By JEFFARAH GIBSON Tribune Features Writer jgibson@tribunemedia.net
EMBODYING the spirt of giving during the festive season, two churches have joined forces for a special preChristmas outreach event to be held this Saturday.
The Church of God of Prophecy East Street along with partnering churches Salem Baptist and Golden Gates Assem bly hope to spread holiday cheer with its pre-Christmas extravaganza out reach that will be held from 1pm-4pm at COGOP East Street.
The event is sponsored by the churches who will partner in prayer and outreach to impact people in the community.
Members of the general public are invited to attend the event and bring along an unwrapped gift to be presented to a child.
There will be free food for the children as well as entertainment. The event will
feature performances by three bands: The Bahama Brass Junior Band, The Golden Gates World Outreach Band and the Urban Renewal Band.
At the heart of the event, Daren Sey mour, public relations officer, said it putting a smile on the children’s faces.
“We hope to give a hand out to chil dren and a hand up to businesses in the area by hosting this giving event while featuring three community bands for an afternoon of fun and wholesome family enjoyment,” he said.
For several years now, Bishop Hulan Hanna, senior pastor of COGOP, has led the charge, usually during the summer, in partnering in prayer and evangelism. Seeing the positive impact the events have had over the years, he felt it was important for the upcoming extrava ganza to be hosted at this time of year.
“This year we are extending this reach to the Christmas season post-COVID,” said Mr Seymour.
“Highlights of the events would be
gifts of music creating a jolly atmosphere during this Advent season; the gift of charity wherein everyone is invited to participate by bringing a gift for a child and marking it for a particular gender and age.”
Small acts of guidance, he said, go a long way in lifting the spirits of those in the community, especially the children. This is what brings organisers the most joy.
Apart from giving back, Mr Seymour noted the event is also another way for the church to get out of its four walls and have its presence felt in the community.
It is an opportunity for evangelism and
to offer prayers for anyone going through a difficult time in their lives.
“Come out for a life-changing experi ence with your family. Children will be blessed with free food and there will also be a bouncing castle and everyone will have an opportunity to enjoy the festive season by giving a gift to Christ, who said, ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me’ (NIV) Matt 25:40).
“There will be free hamburgers and hotdogs for the children. Also, we have invited businesses in the area to partici pate by offering pastries and ice cream at minimal costs,” said Mr Seymour.

Church of God of Prophecy Love Centre to host special Winter production
EVERY day we hear of sad stories, of people afflicted by tragedy barely holding on. We also hear of stories that speak of those who were saved and changed forever.
The Church of God of Prophecy Love Centre hopes to offer the latter when it stages “Time Heals”, a short play for its Winter production set for December 11 at 7pm.
The play tells the story of a young man who has forgotten God, and who is now experi encing a tragic situation that will either bring him closer to the Lord or lead him even further astray. The cast have
gladly embraced their charac ters and are eager to perform the play because they feel it portrays the reality many people are currently facing.
“Time Heals” was written by Minister Samita Ferguson, who has experienced per sonal loss after the sudden passing of her mother. She has also had to deal with other life situations that could have either broken or shifted her mindset as an individual. She wants the audience to know the impor tance of depending on God, who is a sustainer and who will make a way where there
seems to be no way; and He will heal any situation that one may encounter.
The cast is comprised of Bahamian gospel singer and drummer Jermaine Taylor; Pastors Charles Johnson and Pascale Saunders, also Michelle Ditmar, Clelia Minnis, Marvin Whitney, Arneisha Bowleg, Nathaniel Beneby Jr, Greg ‘Valentino’ Miller, along with others. The audience, they promise, will be taken on a journey of songs, “real talk” and laughter.
Also taking part in the production will be psalmists Lateka Culmer and Simmone Bowe, prophetic dancer Tenesha Euphermia, with Rashad Cunningham playing the bells.
“If we can help someone as we pass along, then our living will not be in vain,” the organisers said.
NEW RELIGIOUS BOOK REEXAMINES THE START OF CHRISTIANITY IN THE BAHAMAS
By CARA HUNT Tribune Features Writer cbrennen@tribunemedia.net
IN HER new book, “The Battle of the Kingdoms – A Histori cal Report of the Islands of the Bahamas”, Rev Adrana Lockhart explores the impact Christopher Columbus’ landfall in Bahamas had on the development of Chris tianity in the country.
Rev Lockhart is an educator and a public and motivational speaker.
She says she loves bringing his torical facts together.
Her ancestor, William Lock hart, came to the islands of the as a Loyalist in 1788.
“My book is a historical report of the islands of the Bahamas and brings new insights into the histor ical events that happened in the Bahamas. It shows how one man’s faith led to the discovery of new lands,” she told Tribune Religion.
She explained that the idea for the book came to her during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I was at home and so I used that time to fulfil a dream of mine, which was to write a his torically based book about the Bahamas,” she said.
The book focuses on what she calls the meeting of Columbus and the Span iards with the Lucayans.
“I don’t call it a discov ery, because neither party knew the other party existed. It was an encounter between them where they met each other,” she said.
Rev Lockhart asserts that upon landing in the Bahamas, Colum bus said a very powerful prayer, claiming this side of the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.
And her book discusses the progression of Christianity in the country leading on from that point in 1492.
She believes there are a lot of
misconceptions among Bahami ans about Colombus, as evidenced by the recent attack on his statue in front of Govern ment House.
“There are a lot of things about him that people may not know and so I hope that this book can explain some of them,” she said.
Rev Lockhart’s book also touches on the history of the Lucayans and slavery.
“I think books like this are very important because history is always evolving as people learn about new things that happened that they were not aware of that need to be shared,” she said.
Rev Lockhart said this will not be her last book, as she has ideas for several other religion-themed books in the works.
Those interested in reading “The Battle of the Kingdoms – A Historical Report of the Islands of the Bahamas” may contact Rev Lockhart via email at lockhar tadrana@gmail.com.

‘WORSHIP HEALS’ EVENT TO STIMULATE PEOPLE’S WEAKENED FAITH
By ALESHA CADET Tribune Features Reporter acadet@tribunemedia.net
A NIGHT that calls for healing, deliverance and breakthrough is what Minister Nadene Moss, pictured, hopes to offers at her upcoming “Wor ship Heals” event.
Nadene’s commitment to a life of prayer and study of the Word of God is the driving force behind her wor ship; it is the catalyst that propels her praise.
Known for her powerful and elec trifying music ministry, Nadene’s rich voice not only compels an audience to praise and celebrate, but it heralds the sound of deliverance and sets an atmosphere for the manifested pres ence of God.
She is the former International
Director of Worship for over 700 churches in the Global United Fel lowship organiaation, under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Neil C Ellis and Bishop of Music Cortez Vaughn, whose voice is known for singing the popular “You Deserve It” by JJ Hairston.
Nadene’s “Worship Heals” event is set to take place on Friday, Decem ber 16, beginning 7pm at the Agape Church.
She told Tribune Religion that many people have been healed and delivered as a result of her worship ministry.
Her faith was put to the ultimate test when she was diagnosed with cancer. The same worship that she used to heal and change the lives of others, she now needed to heal her body.
“‘Worship Heals’ is exactly what it says. As we honour and adore
Jehovah, our faith is stimulated, our prospective changes and we begin to see God for all that He is and all that we need Him to be. On July 29, 2022, I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Prayer, praise, worship and the word of God along with medical inter vention saved my life. I worshipped my way out of cancer,” she said.
“I was scheduled to do 12 chemo therapies, but after the fourth one the doctors were amazed because they could not find the mass anywhere. The night before, there was a 24-hour prayer chain and somewhere around 3am in the morning as I was worship ping, I felt the power of God over my entire body and I knew something sig nificant had taken place.”
Nadene said this is the first time the event is being held, and going for ward, she hopes to take it around the
world as she follows the lead of her Lord.
“It is important (to attend) because the faith of many has gotten weak and weary. We are not witnessing the miracles, signs and wonders in our immediate circle as we ought to, there fore sickness, disease and the issues of life have overwhelmed us. ‘Wor ship Heals’ is a reminder that Jehovah Rapha still heals, delivers and sets free. Not just for others but He will do it for you too,” she said
“The overall goal is to stimulate your faith so that you will receive total healing and deliverance from your infirmities and impossible situations.”
Nadene said she is looking for ward to someone saying afterwards, “I was healed and delivered as I worshipped.”
