Death Notice For Funeral Service For

Margaret Mae Edgecombe, 85

Hershal Roy Albury, 75 of Sea Breeze Estates, Nassau, The Bahamas died at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Thursday, 26th November, 2020. A Private Graveside Funeral will be held at Woodlawn Gardens, Soldier Road, Nassau on 4th December, 2020 at 3.30p.m.

Mr. Earl Pinder will officiate.

Hershal was born in Cherokee Sound, Abaco on 2nd May, 1945 to Roy and Marjorie Albury. He grew up and went to school in Cherokee, where he was very popular with his friends. At age 13 he obtained his school leaving certificate and began working on a fishing boat. He eventually became captain of a freight boat called The Nassau Bottler. In 1966, he met and fell in love with a girl from Nassau, Nancy Malone, whom he married in 1967. He got a job in Nassau at Pepsi Cola and worked his way up to Warehouse Manager. Later, he transferred to the Vending Department and eventually became Manager.

In 1970 he became the proud father of a daughter named Charmaine.

In 1976, Hershal successfully obtained his private pilot’s license and for many years he did volunteer work – flying for The Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA). He spent many hours in the air searching for missing people, boats, and planes. He was awarded a citation and a pin from BASRA for many successful rescues.

When Pepsi Cola closed down, he began working at Claridge Marina (which was then owned by JBR Building Supplies). When the Marina was sold he was transferred to JBR, where he worked until he retired, fixing power tools and lawn mowers.

He became a proud grandfather on 25th June, 2005 to a girl named Rebecca Alexis Roberts.

Near the end of 2017, Hershal began having health issues and had to retire. Over the next three years his health deteriorated more and more. On 18th August, 2020 the family was forced to put him in a Senior Citizens Home so that he could receive the care he needed.

Hershal was there for three months and one week; he became unresponsive and subsequently was rushed to the hospital and died on the same night of 26th November, 2020.

Hershal is survived by his loving wife Nancy; daughter Charmaine (Darin) Roberts; grand-daughter Rebecca Roberts; sister Joy (Cedric) Albury; brother Garth(Marina) Albury; cousins Sidney (Margaret) Pinder; Hartis (Greta) Pinder; Rex (Iva) Pinder; Catherine (Craig) Roberts; Roosevelt and Billy Pinder.
