DEATH NOTICE FOR

Dr. Dana Ballard, Ph. D

Born on October 15th, 1946 passed away on Friday, November 4th, 2022.

His parents are Capt. Eddie Ballard, Ethel “Buzzie” Ballard.

He is a resident of Nassau, Bahamas since 1951. Dana attended Queens College and briefly Government High School in Nassau before being accepted into M.I.T. in the US at just under the age of 17 years old. After undergraduate, he moved to UC Irvine for further education in Aeronautical Engineering and Computer Science. Further on he became head of Computer Science at U Rochester and finally found a home in Austin, Texas as head of Computer Science.

Dana’s books a re required reading at undergraduate and he lectured all over the world. His first love was the Bahamas and he had a home also in Georgetown, Exuma which he dreamed of retiring to. Dana is survived by his wife: Dr Mary Hayoe Ballard; sister: Frances Young Doyle; brother: Peter Lambton. He also has two sons: Peter and Mark Ballard.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
