EPIC AT CUSTOM COMPUTERS EPIC AT C.I. GIBSONWeare at the end of this road trip series, and between the online posts as well as these arti cles, it has been cathartic for me, and I only hope it has given you some food for thought as we end the year.
Last time, we had the oppor tunity to think about “D” words that can hinder our progress in life.
Dead ends, detours, damages all play a part in slowing our journey toward the “expected end” we’ve always been taught about. A few of my very own “D” words are death (I’ve recently lost one of the best sis ters in the world), divorce (I’m out here single and experienc ing a new lease on life) and decisions (I have had to make some hard choices about who I am and what I want my next iteration to be; and, I know it’s nothing new.
I’ve chosen to end this series on a final “D” word that should get us in the frame of mind to
and active, watching over My word to perform it.” (The ERV says, “I am watching to make sure that my message to you comes true.”)
Have you guessed the final “D” word of this series is “demand!”
receive abundantly from God throughout the rest of this year.
Let’s see if you can figure out what it is:
Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearken ing unto the voice of his word.
(Psalm 103:20,KJV)
Jeremiah 1:12 AMP says, “Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert
So many times, we sit back, allowing life to happen to us, without placing a demand on anything to be different in order to secure a different outcome. Something I wish above all else is that the people of God under stand their powerful ability to place a demand on God, by His Word, on ministering angels, who hearken unto the Word of God, and finally, on ourselves, to actively and intentionally participate in the liberty and deliverance accounted to us as children of the Most High God!
The key to all of this is three-fold:
We must know the Word of God. I can be wrong but I have always declared emphatically,
“God is not moved by your feeling or emotion; He is com pelled by His Word.” Take a look at Jeremiah 1:12. We have an assurance that every word that has been spoken to us as a promise, a blessing or a proph ecy is being watched over. God is actively working to ensure that not a single word of His concerning you falls to the ground. We can feel free then to remind Him of these promises, these blessings…We can return to the Word regarding each situ ation we face and repeat them to Him, placing Him in remem brance of each of His promises to us.
We must know our team. Not only do we have the encourage ment of fellow Christians on our side, but we also have an army of angelic support, min istering angels, at our disposal.
According to the Word, they wait in anticipation for Godly, Word-based instruction. I firmly believe they are strengthened by Word-based prayer but are
weakened by unbelief and lack of faith. Through prayer and meditation on the word, we strengthen them to do God’s bidding on our behalf. We are not alone, but we have divine and supernatural assistance. We must understand who we are. One of the saddest circum stances is living a life below your benefits as a child of the King. I am reminded of Mephibosheth, living down in Lodebar, crip pled in body because he was lame; but also crippled in mind set, because he was living far beneath his privilege. Once we understand our right to demand our Divine heritage both in this life and in the life to come, I guarantee an amazing aboutface in the way you think and in how you place a demand on Heaven’s abundance in your life.
The final “D” word is demand. Ask, seek, knock! Become intentional about receiving abundance in all areas. God bless you this week!
POPE Francis has decided to extend by a year a lengthy global consultation of ordinary Catholics about the future of the Catholic Church, amid lim ited participation by the laity and seeming resistance to his reforms from the hierarchy.
Francis announced last Sunday that the planned 2023 gathering of bishops would now take place in two stages — one session in October 2023 and a second in October 2024 — to allow more time to find a way forward.
Francis in 2021 formally opened a two-year consultation process on the topic of “syno dality,” or a more decentralized structure of the church with the laity having a greater role. The process is part of Francis’ longterm goal of making the church more inclusive, participatory
and responsive to real-world issues facing ordinary Catholics.
As part of the process, the Vatican asked dioceses, reli gious orders and other Catholic groups to embark on local lis tening sessions so ordinary Catholics could talk about their needs and hopes for the church. Bishops conferences in August reported back the results, and an organising committee recently met near Rome and completed a synthesis document.
But several dioceses and bishops conferences reported minimal participation. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops, for example, reported 700,000 people participated in the con sultation, in a country of 66.8 million Catholics. Many Euro pean countries also reported participation rates below 10 percent.
In addition, many of Fran cis' opponents have scoffed at the entire initiative. A leading
critic and former Vatican offi cial, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller of Germany, recently warned that it represented a “hostile takeover” of the church. Others have pointed to a similar con sultation process underway in Germany that has badly divided the church, amid debate on hotbutton issues such as sexual
morality, women in leadership roles and the church's treatment of LGBTQ Catholics.
Announcing the yearlong extension Sunday, Francis said the fruits of this first phase had been many “but in order to reach a full maturity, it’s neces sary that we not rush things.”
Adding in another year, he

said, would allow for a “more extended discernment.”
“I trust that this decision will lead to an understanding of synodality as a constitutive dimension of the church, and to help everyone live it as a path of brothers and sisters who offer witness to the joy of the Gospel," Francis said in his noon blessing overlooking St Peter's Square.
Already, the Vatican office organising the meeting had extended by several months the deadline to let ordinary dioceses and bishops conferences report back.
to cultivate strong, healthy and happy families that are grounded on Christian principles is the main thrust behind tomorrow’s Family Whole Expo spearheaded by the Bahamas Strong Families Forever (BSFF) organisation.
The expo will take place at the Marathon Mall and seeks to educate people on how they can build their family’s strength and happiness – physically, spiritu ally and emotionally. It will also aim to educate people on how they can prepare themselves financially, socially and mentally for family life.
The second annual National Family Week (July 25-31, 2022), proclaimed by Prime Minister Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, officially launched the BSFF campaign under the theme “My Family Health = Our Commonwealth”.
Patron for activities is the spouse of the prime minister, Ann Marie Davis.
The BSFF campaign is an idea extended from the inau gural National Family Week (July 25 -31, 2021) proclaimed by former Prime Minister, Dr Hubert Minnis.
It is the brainchild of National Organisational Development (NOD) Connections Inter national, a social enterprise conceptualided in April 2020 and its non-profit benefactor Marriage Children Family Alli ance Movement (McFAM).
Bahamas Strong Families Forever is a social enterprise/ non-profit organidation was started by Cheryl WalkineAlexandre in direct response to the devastating blow of Hurri cane Dorian and on its heels the onslaught of the global COVID 19 pandemic.
“After having navigated my own beforehand personal hurricanes and ongoing pan demic-like trials, I knew our country and people would require special tools and insights for healing, recovery,
and sustenance, like I did. This is a particularly necessary for at-risk, vulnerable, and low socio-economic status (SES) families, dysfunctional families, fatherless homes, and families with disabilities,” she told Trib une Religion.
The mission of the organisa tion is to cultivate families that stand on the spiritual and moral principles of God and his word.
Since launching two years ago, the organisation has cov ered “tremendous ground” by increasing awareness of the pivotal role of family via meet ings, education and discussions with government, policymakers, organisational leaders, and in public broadcast mediums.
“However, there is so much more to be done. The BSFF campaign invites partners to collaborate in pooling and sourcing resources, knowledge, education, skills, motivation which will help families have insights to determine means and strategies to provide for their own families and thereby be greater contributors to society,” said Mrs Walkine-Alexandre
Meeting its goals and impact ing family life takes social partnership.
“Urie Bronfenbrenner (19172005), a renowned Russian-born American social psychologist, who worked extensively with the American government on the Head Start programme for children of low SES families declared, ‘The family is the most powerful, the most humane, and by far the most economical system known for building char acter and competence’,” said Mrs Walkine-Alexandre
“In the Bahamas, particu larly, where our people are seeking to rebound from two catastrophic pile-up and enter into an unprecedentedly
challenging post-COVID era, governments and other public, private, business, civil, faithbased organisations must
capitalise on the unequal power of family.
“With most good intentions, governments and social organi sations counterproductively work to replace the responsi bility of the family in providing and caring for its own members. By helping and empowering the family rather than the individ ual or single dyad, for example, mother-child/children, a more effective, sustainable frame work can be developed,” she said.
The organisation recently hosted Family Heroes Renais sance Week that highlighted family heroes past and present in the country.
The organisation will host a number of events in the lead up to the 50th anniversary of Baha mian independence. This will be commemorated with a ball to award “The Family of the Year” and recognise 50 strong families who have blazed the trail to this national milestone.
