single count of misconduct in public office and four counts each of extortion and bribery. Supporters gathered to see Dorsett as he was led away from court after the charges were brought against him. He was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services in Fox Hill, but is due in the Supreme Court for a bail hearing today at 1pm. The allegations concern the purported exchange of funds in connection with work done by a heavy equipment operator to move debris from the New Providence Landfill following a massive fire at the site in March. The extortion charges were brought contrary to Section 453 (1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 84 while the bribery charges were brought under Section 3(2) (a) of the Prevention of Bribery Act Chapter 88. INTERIM Progressive Liberal Party Leader Phillip “Brave” Davis defended his party yesterday, saying it is “not a corrupt party” and “does not support corrupt practices”. In a statement released Thursday, Mr Davis called on party supporters to remain strong in the face of
what he sees as attacks on the PLP. “We are not a corrupt organisation, we must remain strong, and we do not support corruption in any form,” Mr Davis said. “The events now before us are designed to sap the will of the PLP and to destroy the party. I urge you to stand strong and with God’s help we will prevail.” SEE PAGE THREE
MINISTER of Health Dr Duane Sands suggested yesterday additional bombshell arrests may be on the horizon once police are able to gather evidence on the myriad of allegations brought to officials. “I think the public will find that there will be a number of individuals who

will be brought before the courts if the information that has been brought to us, in the opinion and findings of the commissioner of police, prove to warrant pressing charges,” Dr Sands told The Tribune. Some senior members in the Royal Bahamas Police Force have also said “stay tuned” as more bombshells are expected. SEE PAGE THREE
