IN keeping with its mandate to strengthen the family through Godcentred activities and community initiatives, The Bahamas Strong Families organisation is hosting its first national family t-shirt day as a precursor to National Family Week next month.
Marriage Children Family Alliance Movement (MCFAM) and its Bahamas Strong Families Forever (BSFF) partners are pleased to announce the launch of National Family T-Shirt Day tomorrow under its campaign theme 2024 “Give Family More…One Nation To Restore”.
This observance was proclaimed Prime Minister Philip
Brave Davis on the occasion of the United Nation’s International Year of Families IYF+30 in support of building strong, dedicated families throughout The Bahamas.
“We are exceptionally excited about the alignment of this strategic continuing monthly platform to heighten awareness and mindfulness of the far-reaching importance, immutable connection
and power in love of God, family, and nation,” said, Cheryl AKA “Sister Cher” A Walkine-Alexandre, Founder of Marriage Children Family Alliance Movement (MCFAM) and the nonprofit organizations credited for the pioneering advocacy efforts of these pivotal national impacting family initiatives.
The campaign encourages she said encourages family centered policy, programmes, events, activities, socials, education, discussions and forums to foster Harmonious, Abundant, Productive, Progressive, YESable (HAPPY) “family consciousness, bonds, relationships, skill-set, magnifying connection, and power in love of God, family and nation.”
“Bahamas 50+1 theme: ”One People United in Love & Service” beautifully
augments our God, Family, Nation Love and Peace mission, which must start with men who are called to serve as leaders of our nation’s families” Apostle Clement Russell of Gathering Men Ministries, a BSFF supporter, added.
Bahamas Strong Families
Forever is a social enterprise/non-profit organization was started by Mrs WalkineAlexandre in direct response to the devastating blow of Hurricane Dorian and on its heels the onslaught of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
And after navigating her own personal trials, Ms Walkine-Alexandre knew families would require special tools and insights for healing, recovery, and sustenance, like she did. This she said was particularly necessary for at-risk, vulnerable, and low socio-economic
status (SES) families, dysfunctional families, fatherless homes, and families with disabilities.
One of the tools to assist families comes in the form of the HAPPY (Harmonious, Abundant, Productive, Progressive and YESable) conference to help families who may experiencing little hope.
The non-profit organisation whose mission is to cultivate more happy Bahamian families will be hosting more events in the near future.
As the organisation commemorates the 51st Anniversary of The Bahamas it will also take stock and examine the health and strength of the family over the years.

IMAGINE having faith so smallsmall enough to fit in the palm of your hand, yet, so powerful that it can also move mountains.
This is the meaning of mustard seed faith, as taught by Jesus in the bible.
“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20, NIV).
With things like doubt, anxiety, confusion and uncertainty becoming weights on people’s shoulders in this world, most times that ounce of mustard seed faith surely becomes the ‘hope’ to keep it all together. It reminds Christian believers that even the smallest measure of faith can grow into something magnificent and transformative. Tribune Religion spoke to a number of Bahamians who shared their thoughts on having an unwavering trust in God by way of faith.
Camille Dean said one of the bible verses that have always stood out to her most is the Matthew 17:20 verse.
“In this case, a mustard seed is being used proverbially by Jesus to describe something that is so small. And this particular
something - is all that you need to believe. If our faith, no matter how big or small, is placed in the hands of Jesus - only great things can happen in our lives. With mustard seed faith, mountains can be moved. Times are hard for everyone but I encourage all reading this to know that all that is needed is faith along the way. Hold on tight to this life, cherish it and keep the faith,” said Camille.
Another Bahamian, Keisha Sands, encouraged people to know that despite the circumstances, clinging to faith and believing in God to perfect which concerns you, is never a bad idea.
“Over time, small acts of faith, praying daily, attending church, and helping others lead to remarkable changes in life. And another thing, when you have faith so strongly, you yourself become a beacon of hope for others and you may not even know it. Mustard seed faith is one of the most powerful metaphors I have ever heard of. And one that is absolutely true. Remember that growth takes time. Trust that God
is at work, even when you can’t see immediate results,” said Keisha.
Patricia Dean added that sometimes it is not as easy to hold on to faith because the problems in front of you seem to appear so big, but always remember God is bigger.
“There is a Maverick City song that I listen to often that goes: If you got a Godsize problem, He can solve 'em. There's just some problems only God can fix. If there'll be some moments that just don't make sense. There's just some battles flesh and blood can't win. There'll be some moments that just don't make sense. I can't see it now, but I'm still convinced. There's just problems only God can fix," said Patricia.
"When I think of mustard seed faith, songs like this helps, at least me. You have to find what helps you in your walk and whatever works for you, and focus on that. Keep God at the centre, and know that whatever you have asked Him for, it’ll work out in your favor - but in His time. My advice is to be ready when He starts blessing you, because there are many things I can say about my God - and one of them is the way in which he blesses His people. So, in your wait time, get into some devotion, bible study maybe, and spend your time with likeminded individuals."
